Dead End: Paranormal Park (2022)
On par with my childhood favorites
This show has brought me so much joy, the representation in it is like nothing I've ever seen directed at a kids/pre-teens+ audience, and would have been so important for me to see as a child. I'm glad it exists now for people to watch. Even as an adult I love this show, the writing is great, and there are elements of foreshadowing the finale of the most recent season in several episodes from the first season. It is so well thought out, like The Good Place, where there is an obvious direction the characters are being taken in over the course of the show as a whole-not just each season or episode independently. The show is relatable, cute, and funny. It's content rivals one of my all time favorite cartoons, Gravity Falls, and should be watched by anyone who enjoys lighthearted but paranormal/ supernatural content.
Rurangi (2020)
Best portrayal of the transmasc experience
I am a transgender man, and I have never seen a fictional show that so accurately describes my experiences-the awkwardness of meeting people who knew you pre-transition, inappropriate questions from strangers, struggling with family and dating, etc. It's all so accurate. I've felt these things, I've seen my friends feel these things. I also appreciate the fluidity and depth shown in the other characters. They have interests and backstories, not everything is about caz and not everything is about him being trans, but everything IS queer and feels very authentic. Its a bonus that it is made by queer people and stars trans people in trans roles. I usually only watch my favorite shows twice, and almost never watch shows three times. I've seen rurangi three times. Every time I am watching it I am so overcome with emotion. I think about it all day after finishing it, and highly recommend it.
