Great start but slips
29 April 2024
Season 1 was great. Kept in a small town with small scenes taking place elsewhere as well as keeping the main cast small, the story developed well. Season 2 was a disappointment. Trying to go bigger isn't always better and their attempt failed. Bigger cast, fights, number of locations, cgi and on and on just made the show so convoluted I couldn't care less.

Now the main character is producing videos disparaging large swaths of his audience over their beliefs and mischaracterizing his own faith. Why should I support this show anymore? He is entitled to his beliefs, I am entitled to watch something else.

Solid 7
26 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I cut my teeth with Fallout New Las Vegas but it is Fallout 4 I really love. This series captures essence of the FO world and does so in a way that makes you want more and not just tickle your memberberries. The use of flashbacks to the world before compliments the present day story.

I am a harsh critic of modern storytelling but the story building here is intriguing, characters interesting with little issues that I would call foul. In fact, the only dialog issue I had was in episode 6 when Maximus and Lucy are in vault 4 holding cell. Lucy asks Maximus if he wants to get it on. Her asking that and his response are totally uncalled for and has no place in the story.

My only other critique, the Brotherhood isn't developed well and Maximus place within them seems very strange. Although the actor playing Maximus does a great job, it seems they don't know what to really do with him. One moment he is a likeable guy and another a future serial killer, you know, the quiet guy who stares creepily at you.

As I watch the series for a second time I would also add, stop with all the cameos. If they are not a main character don't use well known actors for bit roles.

I look forward to season 2.

Childish and contrived
8 January 2024
This is complete trash. 48 minutes in and what has seemed childish and contrived has now become so cartoonist. So much time is wasted on slow motion, bad cgi, long exposition and horrible immature dialogue and antics in the first hour. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't what the is centered around. SO MUCH WASTED TIME!

On top of that this whole thing comes about as an accident that he then pursues because; where are the responsible adults?

I am going to finish this mess but the critics were right about this movie and the state of the DCEU and as an extension, Hollywood and further extension our nation.

Crusher to the rescue
22 December 2023
Gates McFadden is not a good actor especially when the episode is centered on her. This particular episode shouldn't even have had her involved with starship shield technology but somehow she was the champion for the Ferengi scientist developing it when the universe of scientist and engineers laughed him off stage.

For some reason the script had her being an island, no one believed her or could help her. She even had to spout engineering techno-babble tests that even Data didn't think of.

Another thing about Crusher episodes, she is always right and even if she doesn't have evidence, she is still always right.

This was a poor episode for her, her talent is not enough to overcome the poor script.

Was so bored I couldn't finish
26 October 2023
I don't know if it is superhero fatigue or bad writing or both but unlike its charming predecessor, this movie is not worth finishing, even at the mid point. My wife and I have loved Zachary Levi since Chuck and was rooting for him but they had him play a child in a man's body, again even though Shazam is supposed to be the adult.

The acting from everyone else was terrible, even Helen Mirren though she wasn't handed much to work with. Lucy Liu remains a terrible actor. Newcomer and future feminist Snow White, Rachel Zeigler shows she isn't very good either. There wasn't much good from the other actors as well.

Whether it is the curved monitor or green screen, the CGI was so bad it looked like it was from the CW shows.

Good first season
16 August 2023
Many TV shows will, in the end, not be perfect with things like poor cgi, editing, writing and acting. For the most part, Picket was pretty darn good for the first 6 episodes before any major issue surfaced.

By episodes 7-9 the needed information or thing just started to fall into the lap of the good guys and the bad guys seemed to get dumber or suddenly acted out of character. Episode 8 went on way too long and episode 9 wrapped up halfway through.

There is a little environmental preaching in here and what little there is fits into the overall story and I don't feel like I have been clubbed.

Even with that the show was entertaining and I found myself liking the main characters. All of the actors did an excellent job, even the children.

I have never read the books but want to and I will be clicking on season 2 here shortly.

Not asked for and not needed
4 August 2023
How many ways can you say this season is terrible in nearly every way? It is as if children are in charge. In the spirit of this episode I am singing, "this episode was utter garbage! How can they be so childish thinking this is anything remotely entertaining! It would be better if they just took the old TOS scripts and remade them word FOOORRRRR WOOORRRRRRD!"

Did you like my song? No? Yeah this episode was worse! I can't wait for AI to start pumping out scripts and creating its own cgi actors, I sense a new golden age of entertainment coming.

I did find a new source of entertainment, studio c on the you tubes, better scripts and acting by far.

Peace out Paramount +, I will not be renewing my subscription.

Hilarious!
25 July 2023
This is one of the funniest skits I have ever seen, a must watch!

Since the dawn of science fiction there have been many written works, films and TV shows that try to illustrate how aliens would view humanity and this little short does this to perfection.

Giving humanity a chance to defend itself, General Florg listens to American representatives but is stumped by their use of pronouns. What follows is a comedic yet perfect look at the confusion behind our current worlds confusion.

I really love the portrayal of General Florg and the make-up and costume for him is a hoot. One of the best skits done by the Babylon Bee.

Difficult beginning of a season
17 June 2023
People are quick to pick apart SNW and after Discovery being a terrible mess I can understand. I like Anson Mount and so I gave a lot of things in season 1 a pass because it was better than Discovery. In fact, except for Serine Squal I found most episodes enjoyable.

This start to season 2 is difficult not to pick apart and I am hoping for better in the next episodes but time will tell. First off, thr whole Una being punished but La'an can serve despite her heritage? Spock being so emotional is not where you want to go but if they play it as his pursuit back to logic vs love interest with Chapel.

Kirk is not funny
16 June 2023
Never once did I think any Kirk's shenanigans was in anyway amusing and by this point I ignore any of his dialog. I can't stand people like him, those who everyone else must bend to their will or else you are the bad guy. I am glad he will be leaving the show at the end of the season. It is insufferable to think the other characters defend Kirk or try to accommodate him while Dick is in the right by being angry and distrustful.

The rest of the cast is relatively funny though you know they are still flushing out their characters.

George is by far the most humorous and the deadpan look he has when he doesn't get something cracks me up.

Strong story with stronger cast
16 May 2023
You think at first, this is going to be about a dimensional portal to somewhere or even aliens but it is not. The whole is where the real story orbits and sometimes weaves in and out of and does so very, very well.

There are issues with thr production but I give a pass on those as just part of the filming process, nothing is perfect. Except for some inclusions that had nothing to do with the story and more with ensuring the "woke" criteria was met the only big issue I had was the change in some filming techniques, mainly centered around Autumn. I liked it but it felt almost like a different director showed up one day.

On top of my appreciation for a good story, the acting was fantastic! Every actor did a great job but my hats off to LilinTaylor and Wil Patton, wow did they do a great job.

Decent game with little replay value
12 May 2023
Decent game with a decent enough story that I enjoyed learning and playing until the story was done. After that, it got repetitive and the suit level up options just stopped and left me wanting.

The big issues I had besides repetitive gameplay and suit options, the voice actors didn't really match up well especially Alfred who sounds like a creeper who will harvest your organs. The other big issue, the sign of the times we live in. This is where the game has to affirm a small percent of the game players with who they think they are whether it is the rainbow flag in the Belfry or saying they really need to go to the pride parade. These are pointless additions to the game and only serve to show themselves woke.

I will probably never purchase another DC game again for all the reasons above.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023 Video Game)

Great sequel with few notable issues
12 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I am playing this on Xbox x and I really am enjoying this game. From the more open world options to the story this is an improvement on the first. Three complaints I have are, the women look more like boys and are missing the feminine look, the reliance on way too many timed jumps while running walls and such and the occasional crash of the game when I just completed said timed jumps and now have to do it again. Of the three I would say the worst is the women because it makes me ask, is this a sign of the times we are living in?

The story was great, much better than anything with Rey in it. I just wish they expanded a little more on the relationship with Merrin which deserves much more time, perhaps a 3rd game or movie will do that.

The decline of civilization
21 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There were great bits if cgi and tremendous amounts of Remember Berries to tickle our nostalgia but what was there of substance? The answer is, nothing. A lot of stuff happened but was easily overcome by just waiting a few more minutes and listening to a speech.

There was really no struggle. No heroes journey.

In episode 9 we had the reveal of the Borg queen played by Alice Krige, WOW! Bringing back a major antagonist that could be the spark of life for this season was something I was really hoping for. But what did we get? A character that basically occupied a corner of the set and gave useless dialog in a threatening tone.

You can sum up this season with, they pulled from a bucket of what they thought the audience would like and just slapped it into episodes. This is a perversion of our beloved heroes and the intellectual property. This is such bad nothingness surrounded by flashy cgi and Remember Berries. This is evidence of the decline of our civilization.

Remember Berries abound
14 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This season has, in nearly every scene, something that is a call back to Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as other Star Trek productions. On the surface this wouldn't be a bad thing but they lay it on so thick and so often it has become a joke, with few exceptions. It is those exceptions that really tug the nostalgia but it is those exceptions that are what they season should have been centered on but instead we got SO much nostalgia it became laughable. The most laughable is in this episode where the Enterprise D saucer section returns attached to another sold Galaxy Class star drive section and our heroes comondere it.

Compared to the first two seasons this season is fantastic and the CGI is just beautiful, this episode and the Borg cubes in the nebula was just outstanding. The other great part, Alice Krige return as the Borg Queen; she was such a great antagonist and her return tickled my brain juices.

The show overall is a perversion of what Gene Roddebberry's vision of the Federation was to be. When the Federation in Picard is just as bad as the world today, where is the hope? Is it in our heroes who have become so cynical? Another perversion is seen visually. Where TNG had bright settings aboard ships, this one makes you question whether the Federation can pay of electricity.

This is another example of our modern lazy writing but I am SO glad it is not leftist preaching of the first two seasons.

I couldn't care less
11 April 2023
I love Kathryn Hahn but that love couldn't make me interested in her or the other characters. In fact, I got so sick of the negativity, language and ugliness of the characters, I gave up less than 20 minutes in.

This shoe might speak to some people, for me it came across as ugly and whiney. This is just one example of how art imitates life imitating art imitating life and makes you ask, why? Why watch? Why live your life like this? Why speak the way these people are speaking?

I like anything where i care what happens to the characters, whether they are good, bad or ugly but the key is, I have to care and this show failed at that.

Funny without much substance
4 April 2023
Over the run of the show there have been many funny moments, mostly between Russell and Timmy.

A few things bring this show down, the biggest being that Jeff and Audrey really don't like each other in about 99% of the episodes, really why are they married; this also rolls over to Adam and Jen who are engaged during the entire run.

Another is the intelligence of Adam goes down with each season and he is presented as a idiot in most scenes.

The opening line to the opening lyrics, "How many ways to say I love you", in 7 seasons the couples may have said it once or twice, I had a hard time believing they love each other.

So. Some great little nuggets in the seven seasons of mostly negative representation of relationships.

Wifelike (2022)

Vehicle for soft porn
4 April 2023
Although not a very original premise, the story of an AI becoming sentient or perhaps a human consciousness being put in an android is very interesting. This however quickly shows that it really isn't too interested in that.

Within seconds we see the company, Wifelike, really isn't interested in you having a wife as much as a sex slave. A few more minutes later and we have the first soft core porn scene; I couldn't make it past that part.

This is not a highbrow story. But, if you like a very slow pace movie, nudity that shows how Hollywood really feels about wives and women, sub-par acting and story, then this is for you.

More Remember Berries
31 March 2023
This season is better than the previous 2 by far but it doesn't have much of a story so what it gives you is Remember Berries to tickle the nostalgia in your brain.

That said, I did like this episode more than the others, probably because Raffi wasn't in it but more likely, the "bad guys" reveal why they are doing what they are doing. The why does irritate me because they continue to make The Federation and the Star Trek franchise into a perversion of what it used to be and as such, the Federation is just as evil as everyone else. Thank you for showing our idealistic science fiction hope for a future is now nothing more than bleakness in the darkness of space just like the real world. But at least we have that nostalgia to tickle us.

Other than the reveal of the "bad guys", the show is filled with dumb decisions and contrived actions and of course, Remember Berries.

Team Failure, the saga continues
30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What I liked: music and animation are fantastic, high stakes story with dire consequences,

What I disliked: the team fails again, how many does this make this season? Omega is a terrible character who shouldn't be on any mission let alone with the team and that laser bow thing is just dumb, almost as bad as a laser slingshot. Some might say, oh but she is a child and you are right, she is until they want her to suddenly be good at something then she is an expert. Her thinking she knows best and not listening to orders from the team always turns out bad, she is just a terrible character. All season long this happened like thr writers didn't know what to do with her and now here at the end, she is just a bargaining chip, LOL!

With the exception of a few episodes as seen individually, this season was so poorly written, layed-out and all around telling of a story. As someone who saw A New Hope when it opened in theaters, this is insulting bad!

I am done with the Mandalorian and I am done with this show and I am done with Disney Star Wars. Oh and for me, Acolyte is DOA and Skeleton Crew? All garbage!

Remember Berries fuel this season
26 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of my biggest complaints about this season is its use of Remember Berries to tickle the nostalgia juices in your brain. In fact the whole plot seems to be centered on its usage. Then comes the space heist scene at Daystom Labs and I had my nostalgia juices tickled by Moriarity. This would have been great if it wasn't just a 30 second bit and he was a major player, alas it was a wasted chance.

Best lines come from Worf and Riker while Raffi is just a walking cardboard cutout of a human delivering lines and being a very clingy former romantic partner.

Geordi's character is made to look poorly in thr face of his daughters while one of them and Jack Crusher suddenly know how to install a 100 year old cloaking device into a modern starship, where is the Titan's engineering team?

This send off season could have been much better but with wasted talent and over use of nostalgia, the story is falling flat.

Seen as an episode vs as the whole
23 March 2023
As an episode which is connected to a few others, this is a good episode that is only filled with a few filler scenes or acts by a character. So. I would rank this a 7 out of 10 based upon that.

If I view this in the totality of the season, this rating drops because it is misplaced; this should have been episode 2 or three. This should have been on the build up towards a climatic mid season act. As it is it is out of place amongst the other misplaced episodes and still others that should not have been told.

So, I give this a 5 out of 10 based as seen with the season in view. This criticism lands solely on the idiocy of the showrunners and their inability to tell a cohesive story.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 20: The Foundling (2023)
Season 3, Episode 4
2/10
Only 25 minutes and what did we get?
22 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I will start with what I liked, which was Grogu's flashback to the fall of the Jedi temple. In yet another attempt at tickling your brain with a Remember Berries, it is initiated by the same thing Din's flashback from season 1, the Armourer's hammering. Another thing I liked was the special effects with the inflight dragon fight.

What I detest and what killed the whole series for me. Short episode with really nothing of consequence other than Grogu's flashback. The long camera shots on the beach went on far too long for such a short episode, we get it, they are training. Yet another monster attacks them on the beach, these warriors really stuck at defending themselves. The monster takes a foundling, the one from episode 1 and the Mandaloriams take chase with their jet packs but oh no, they run out of fuel. But no worries Strong Female Character who is smarter uses her ship. SFC then tracks the monster back but they take at least 12 hours to reach the nest, because, reasons. By the time they reach the nest there are 3 angy young monsters and then from nowhere, momma shows up and vomits the very dry and very alive foundling, WHAT UTTER CRAP!

Now that isn't the worst part. The worst part comes after they defeat momma monster and get the foundling back home. There Bo Katan, SFC, gets praise from the Armourer then Bo announces, there are more foundlings to raise and out from her ship come three baby monsters. WHAT GARBAGE!

This episode was only to lift up another character that is not The Mandalorian.

I am done with this show! This has been some of the laziest, contrived and just amateur production that has come from what should be a serious show.

No doubt better than previous seasons, but
18 March 2023
If you step back from the great CGI, this season of Picard is really nothing more than nostalgia click bait that tickles your brain.

What I do like, the actor that plays Jack, I think he will do some great acting and I really like Michael Dorn/Word, most of Rikers lines and the inclusion of Ro and her departure.

What I do not like is the poor lighting, new starfleet officers that are written to be idiots or insufferable or so awesome just to lift up the main cast; Raffi is a terrible character, the actress that plays Raffi CANNOT act and now this revelation of the direness of the changeling covert invasion which is so over the top. So, now our heroes must run to obviously plan their great comeback which will probably be at DS9, I mean, how can you have changelings and not go back to DS9?

I predict even more pre 2k characters to return and for some reason Raffi will still survive, Picard will sacrifice himself and take his place with Q.
