Hidden Strike (2023)
Very fun
As usual with Jackie Chan movies, the stunt coordinator, the fight choreographer, and Jackie Chan made this a fun movie to watch regardless of how dry the humor was, how bad some of the acting was, and how thin the plot was.
First off, the characters and their motivation made sense, but they weren't super drilled in. And some of the character traits were random and didn't tie in to the rest of their character.
There were also plot points that weren't explained well, or didn't make sense. Like, what country are they in? What is the bad guys background and motivation? Very hazy in a lot of that.
The action, though, was very fun! Sure, some of the effects looked low budget, but Jackie Chan fighting in his classic style is so dang fun to watch. And Jon Cena also is fun to watch fight because he's enormous. And watching them fight each other with tons of props (as Jackie is known for doing) was nothing short of awesome.
If you like Jackie Chan movies, you will like this one.
Night Train (2023)
Not that bad
This was a pretty decent movie. I'm surprised it had so many bad reviews. Sure, it's not fast and the furious levels of awesome, but it was clearly made on a budget.
The story is basic, but compelling enough to keep you interested. The casting was actually pretty good for budget actors. I believed what they were selling for the whole movie. Sure, the plot moved slow, then fast and there definitely some instances that didn't make a ton of sense but moved the plot forward.
My main critique is throwing in mechanical jargon that sounds legit, and kind of is, but real car people know that street racers and mechanics would never talk like that in real life.
Overall, it's worth a watch. Not the best movie I've ever seen, but I did enjoy it.
Wednesday (2022)
So good
OK, I quite enjoyed the 90s Adam's family movies, and I also really enjoyed the newer animated movies. Wednesday totally envolopes everything I love about Addams family, and does a great job amplifying my favorite character, Wednesday.
First of all, the plot/story of the show. It moves really fast (bingeable), it grips you right from the beginning and keeps you engaged throughout the series. Never a dull moment. You start wondering how things relate to each other, and then it makes sense.
Next is the acting. Jenna nailed Wednesday. The perfect tone of voice, facial expressions, etc. Very confident and matter of fact. The supporting actors and actresses were also fantastic.
10/10 would recommend. Super fun.
The Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM (2022)
Eye Opening!
This documentart has solid reporting, lots of facts and data used, as well as some fun anecdotal stuff. I highly recommend it. There are so many things in this film that I took for granted, but this has seriously opened my eyes. I do wish that more of her sources would have been in the movie, but Floyd's room mates were a surprising addition and added a lot.
It kind of stinks that you can only watch on daily wire because it's seriously so good and I don't watch much else on daily wire, but it was almost worth the annual subscription just to watch this one documentary. It's a must see for sure!
