Shen bu you ji (1980)
Instant Classic Kung Fu Flick
I stumbled across this film by complete chance on YouTube and decided to give it a watch. All I can say is that this film is why I love 70s/80s Kung Fu movies.
It has action, it has comedy and it all hits the right marks. One scene in particular where Sammo Hung's character pretends to act out and interaction between himself and his self proclaimed master (Bryan Leung). It's such a simple joke that doesn't need dubbing to be funny.
The fight scenes are incredible and show the amazing skills of all the actors in the film, whether through kicking, punching, throwing etc.
I would urge anyone who likes Kung Fu films to give this film a watch, it's an instant classic.
Skibidi Toilet (2023)
Making something out of nothing
Started seeing these toilets popping up throughout the internet and had no actual clue on what they were. The first video I thought was just a meme to the tune of a meme sounding song.
But the longer it goes on more of a story is being made. It's the definition of making something out of nothing, couldn't have ever imagined that a near 50 mini episode series could be made from a 30 second video.
The animations are pretty nice for that they are, are they ground breaking? No, are they the prettiest? No.
But this doesn't detract from the story telling. It's strange yes and for the vast majority of the time you'll be going why?
I would recommend giving it a watch from start to finish it's only 20 minutes or so.
Wheely (2018)
It's Wheely mediocre
The overall film is not the worst that I have ever seen and I would say in certain areas the film is quiet good.
The plot is slightly reminiscent of Cars 3 but not a direct copy like what some are trying to portray this as. The voice acting is to a good standard and nothing too bad can be said about it, maybe besides the terrible terrible impression of an English accent, even if it is being done in jest.
I couldn't recommend this film as something that someone needs to watch bit if there is absolutely nothing else on this would be a nice way to kill an hour and a half so there is that.
Overall not bad not good just Wheely mediocre.
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Destruction of Childhood
This film destroyed my faith in Pixar, upon watching the film for the first time I felt saddened to see what has happened to a series that didn't need this film.
First the positives, the animation is gorgeous I genuinely thought that some parts of the film for real life, the part with RC and the rain looked out of this world. Honestly you cannot fault Pixar on this at all.
Ducky and Bunny bring much needed comedy to the film and are the best characters added.
Now the negatives. Firstly Bo Peep, why? Why is she now a main character? Coming from what I would call a side side character to now front and centre makes no sense although I do know why it's been done, Female Empowerment...
Buzz has been pushed aside to now be a side character and Jessie and other side characters are pretty much non existent.
Bonnie is now a complete wet blanket and honestly becomes detestable over the course of the film. Forky is just there, and Gabby Gabby is meant to be a villain but is portrayed as a toy down on her luck.
Also the Vincent dolls make this film an unexpected horror film. I was freaked out by them and can't imagine how many others were at the cinemas.
Overall, this film didn't need to exist and is just a cash grab.
I'd still recommend watching it though.
The Nut Job (2014)
Completely Forgettable...
Honestly one of the worst films I have ever seen, even my two year old was bored of this film after half an hour.
I would provide details of the plot but I honestly cannot remember anything about it, I think there's something to do with nuts and maybe a hot but vendor cart or something like that, maybe a dog?
This is how much of an impact the film had.
For what it is worth the animation are very well done and is easily the best part of the film, so props to the makers on that one. There also appears to be an random inclusion of PSY at the end although this may just be a sign of the times, either way it ages the film terribly.
Give it a miss unless you have absolutely no other films to watch.
Ozzy (2016)
Harmless but drab
To anyone that says that this is inappropriate for children I think you need to reassess yourself. This is a children's film and having a prison setting doesn't make it inappropriate.
Besides that the film itself is harmless but by enlarge very forgettable, the first act of the film is completely forgettable as in I can't remember anything about it, the acting is passable but again just okay. The same can be said for the animation, there are times where it looks very rough around the edges and looks like it was still in production.
The story is again not great but harmless, as another reviewer said "Shawshank Redemption with Dogs".
If you've got nothing else to watch I'd give it a go to waste some time.
