Sigurd fåkke pult (2020)
Sad when it ended
One of the few shows that actually manage to take quite ordinary people and create somewhat realistic but hilarious situations.
Some situations are a bit extreme for comedic effect, but overall the show has a realistic tone.
A few of the sequences directed to tell stories are clearly inspired by directors like Guy Ritchie but are they are still really funny, and overall the directing of the show is great.
Acting is great, Steinar's performance stands out, his ability to act awkward is event better than Nathan Fielder.
Hope to see more from these guys in the future. Was looking forward to every episode so I was a bit sad when it ended.
Midway (2019)
Cliche after cliche
Imagine every war movie cliche possible. Combine these into a movie. The result is Midway. A friend I saw the movie with even asked if it was new, as he thought he had seen it before.
Even the effects were not top notch, often feeling like a computer game, took me out of the movie several times.
On the plus side I really liked the sound, and most of the acting is good.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Went in with low expectations - came out positively suprised
Perhaps my viewing experience was influenced by low expectations, but this was the best star wars movie since Force Awakens. This is much due to it following "the star wars logic", unlike the last installment which "breaks" the rules of the star wars universe, and made for a painful viewing experience.
The story don't come with too many surprises, but still serves as a good origin story for Han Solo. However, I do hope their next spin off will be something original, or about characters we know less about.
Natural Born Pranksters (2016)
Extended cuts of some youtube videos
I was not hyped for this movie, so no big expectations or anything. I'm familiar with all these youtubers, and have seen quite a few of their pranks on youtube. The premise of this movie is promising, you would imagine Jackass with only pranks, however the reality is not what you would expect.
The major issue is that most of these pranks are already shown on youtube, thus making a majority of the movie a rewatch. Furthermore, without counting, it feels like these 90 minutes only contain about 10-15 pranks.
In short the movie feels like extended cuts of some youtube videos merged together.
Brick Mansions (2014)
Copy and paste, but with quality loss
District 13 is a great movie! This is a wannabe copy. I don't mind copying movies to reach a broader audience, but somehow this movie fails to capture the details that made the original movie great.
The beginning scene where Belle escapes had less wow-factor than D13, and the music was way off. The scene was ruined. This is occurring throughout the movie.
It might be the director, I won't point fingers, but D13 director also made Taken, the director of Brick Mansion made Taken 2, just saying.
It should be mentioned that the acting is way off too. The main villain is good, the mains (Belle, Walker) are decent, but so many of the side characters horribly acted. Without exaggeration I have seen student films with way better acting.
In short: Avoid at all cost if you can bear subtitles/know french ;)
The Machine (2013)
The best movie in this genre
I really enjoyed this movie, acting, directing, music were all top- notch, after my book.
The plot raises some important questions regarding the development of AI. Being an engineer myself I was very intrigued by the theme and setting of the movie.
The interaction between humans and robots were incredibly well written, unlike other movies I have seen in the same genre.
The last 15-20 minutes of the movie were unfortunately the worst part of the movie, due to some minor plot issues, and some things left unnecessary unclear (I'm a fan of open endings, but this was not the case here).
The beginning and main part of the movie were so good that I was left with a very positive experience by watching the movie, and therefore decided to give this a weak 10/10
