Under the Dome: Force Majeure (2014)
Under the dome, help I'm smothering.
The problem that I have with this series, is that it would have been a good mini series like "The Stand," but it is a story that goes on for years. I am only on Season 2, and can't imagine dealing with this dome much longer. Even at season 2, it is already stretched thin. I am starting to feel smothered by the dome and just want it to go away.
The acting however is a joy, with Breaking Bad's Dean Norris, and Rachelle Lefevre holding the sometimes good sci-fi, sometimes non- believable script together. The red rain in this episode is a bit much, and if they show that cow in the beginning being split in half one more time I may have to scream. Besides, the women are very attractive, and easy on the eyes, especially Lefevre. The real treat in this episode is Dwight Yokam with an outstanding performance. He is a true acting talent; something I hadn't realized till now.
All in all Under the Dome is worth watching if you can make it to the end, which seems to be adding up as a bottomless pit.
Half Past Dead (2002)
Half Past Dead, appropriate name for this movie.
Half Past Dead, must also refer to Seagal's martial arts skills that are on vacation in this pitiful movie. Bruce Weitz's acting performance is as close as you will get to anything of value. As Stephen King said, "It's all about the story." There is no story, just gun violence, with special effects, backed by hideous crack-head music. Seagal surely will disappoint his fans with this one. If you are looking for another Under Siege 1, or On Deadly Ground, don't waste your time. Money spent for the poorly done effects should have been paid to the script writer. There is no message, no redeeming value, just noise. Not even worth reviewing. 2 Stars just to leave room for something worse.
Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (2005)
Maybe the most boring movie ever made...
Comedy? Where? If you want to get excited over a movie you would be better off watching the film sprockets on the projector turn after unplugging the sound. That way you wouldn't have to listen to Brook's always incredibly boring voice. This is one of those movies that is so so bad that you force yourself to keep watching, thinking surely it will get better. Im afraid that doesn't happen till you get to the credits. If you like watching credits you will like this movie, otherwise you would be better off to attend your local PTA meeting, especially the part where they read the minutes.. Oh those were very interesting times compared to this attempt to do who knows what. Brooks is a bore, the screenplay is a bore, the writing is a bore, the photography is a bore. The only good thing about this movie is the good looking Indian Chick.. No you don't need the sound for her either.
Sicko (2007)
75% Factual, 25% Michael Moore Style, 100% Scarry
This two hour documentary holds your attention and is very entertaining as well. I found myself wiggling in my chair, not because I was bored, but because one foot was trying to run to Washington and kick the living crap out of every politician that is working for the insurance and drug companies not me.
Moore compares Universal health care in other countries and exposes the years and years of untruthful propaganda that has been shoved down our American throats.
There are many sad stories about individuals that were totally done in by HMO's, Politicians and Drug Companies, there loved ones left to die not by omission but by design.
The last part of the movie involved Moore taking a group of 911 First Responders with health problems to Cuba, was embellishment but very entertaining. He does have a set of brass ones and it was absolutely fantastic watching him pull up by boat to the Us Guantanamo Military Base, megaphone in hand, shouting at the guard tower that his 911 people just needed equal health care as the Al Quida prisoners were getting.
Filter out about 25% and you have the raw truth like it or not. This movie will go down as one of the most significant films that changed American Health Care and is well worth saying you were there.
