Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Trying too hard.
Another stinker from these guys. Yes it's technically well made, but what a mess. 3 hours of absolute nonsense messing around billion "multiverses". Some cool fights/action now and then but I could not care less about characters and non existing plot. I love silly humour, but this on par with swiss blade man. "haha dildo fight! Butt plugs!" etc. Elementary level humour. I was so ready to walk out of this garbage for first time of my life.
Pahanhautoja (2022)
Best Finnish horror movie ever made.
And this comes from Finnish guy who has seen almost all finnish movies. I know there is not many finnish horror movies, so bar is pretty low. But damn this is like something out of japan. It's trippy, confusing and made me think. Best finnish horror by far.
Wild Game (2021)
not 10/10 but..
Such low rating disturbed me. This is no by means "trash".
Well made, decent acting and least I liked the whole thing all the way to the end. Yes. It is another "hunting trip gone wrong" movie, but I liked its tone and did not feel bored. Recommended.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
What's wrong with your face?
Yes. I realize this is based on manga, but just that freaky face and bady made. Story does not make any sense etc. Perhaps kids might enjoy this. I did not.
Inhumanwich! (2016)
Laughed all the way.
First I thought this would be just stupid, but it turned out to be amazing fun. People who made this obviosly had made their homework. Kind of homage to 50's horror/sci-fi. All of the characters are hilarious in their own way. Comedy is constant like ZAZ movies. I just tossed 10/10 to get rating up, because this deserves better. See it for free at youtube.
Slasher (2016)
Don't waste your time.
Shasher was praised on multiple facebook etc. Groups around so I decided to give it a shot. Oh it was terrible.
No spoilers here: It is just poor scream, seven, silence of the lambs mash up.
All the characters vague and obnoxious. Could not care any of them (mediocore acting at best did not help). Story drags and is all over the place. Gore is ok, but rare. Etc. Can't believe I wasted my time watching 2 seasons of this and finally gave up half way during third one. Typical netflix trash.
Pandemonium (1982)
So bad that it is just terrible.
I don't think I would find this even remotely funny even if I was 12yo. It is like bunch of skits(?) and most annoying stereotypical characters that would not make in even in the worst police academy sequel or worst SNL skit. Guess this tried to be horror comedy minus both things. Even part where takes a poo (hehe) and there is bomb in the toilet (hehe) flies up the air next to airplane full of asian tourists everyone carrying a camera (did I mention the stereotypes) Just laugh and take pictures. Sounds silly fun, mut they even managed to make that annoying.
Don't get me wrong. I can enjoy even the dumbest comedies out there but this thing "missed the mark" on everything. Thought I watch this randomly at the evenening just to have some gigles, but I just ended up going to bed full of hate. Way worse than someone making silly faces to amuse infant.
Barry (2018)
Amazing.
This show is about ex war veteran who turned to hitman who ends up to acting class by accident and starts to find his humanity.
Hader is brilliant as usual as lead role as killer and you start rooting for him early on. All the characters are wery well written and acted. (amazingly Henry Winkler _allmost_ steals the show).
The whole haunting feeling knowing cops are few steps behind of Berry all the way the whole show kept me gripped when "Barry" is struggling to be like normal human being but past keeps dragging him back no matter how he tries.
To keep this spoiler free, this show reminds me stuff like (true detective, last man on earth, fargo and movie nightcrawler) for some reason. Quite dark toned but full of dark huomour that made me laugh out loud on every episode.
I head about this show late untill Bill Burr recommended it when Hader was a guest and watched all eight episodes in the row. That Is rare so this is higly recommended.
Jim Breuer: More Than Me (2010)
Not a comedy special.
Actually documentary doesn't contain stand up material pretty much at all. It's more about his almost 90yo dad he decides to drag on his stand up tour. 95% of documentary is him walking him slowly around, dressing and undressing him and gagging on him smelly dumps. His dad is old school dude who doesn't show any emotions or barely even speaks. Guess those long scenes them walking around and climbing stairs with tear jerking acoustic guitar soundtrack didn't really touch me at any level. What is the purpose of this documentary? Pointing out that people don't live forever, so send some time whit them before its too late and help them out? Guess that should be obvious to everyone. I got distant feeling this was bit self glorifying bit how he hangs with her dad even that he is rich and doesn't really need to.
In a nut cell I didn't get any laughs or tears out from this documentary even that I like the guy.
Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders (2006)
Kids playing Irréversible
As an genre fan and director is somewhat as old as I am, I had some hope to see new talent to show off here. Sadly that didn't happen.
First thing what kicks in is noticing that these kids have seen that french movie Irréversible. What means dizzy camera rotating around and buzzing sound from lights. Too bad this doesn't serve any purpose on this movie and shows off the low budged and lack of talent of filmography and editing. On Irréversible all that well done camera trickery served an purpose to tell story from end to beginning seamlessly, but on this its just to cover dull story whit "exotic" 70s' setting (clothing) and predictable story. On acting wise, only one who shows any talent on this flick is Clifton Collins Jr., who seems to be stuck in 2nd class movies since his last notable appearance on mindhunters (and it's director has too, who was called in to remake original unwatchable Exorcist: The Beginning to proper old school horror). Not to mention, this has some lame "blurred out" scenes, where people are having sex and one injection, is as annoying like wathcing some mtv show where all the official logos are blurred out. Haven't seen this on "movies" ever. I guess the only kicker in this one is to see "Dawson's Creek" appearance star butt naked coupe of times (amazing they didn't blur that out), what I never missed because I have only seen that series only couple of times by force. Showing off complete lack of talent, she kind of reminded me of Paris hilton on House of Wax.
So shortly: Lack of talent on movie-making and acting, arty low budged crap, what struggles to be full lenght film. Only question is how could somebody waste money to release this kind of *bleeeeb*. Perhaps this would have been acceptable in 1980 but...
