Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Good BUT Ridiculous
It's always great to see the Indiana Jones character, but too many absurdities in this film.
A "no flying lessons" pilot?
Shot and DOESN'T bleed out?
I operated the NY Subway for 33 years. We were taught to STOP ASAP if we saw ANYTHING on the tracks in front of our trains, NOT speed up
Too much "mindless shooting" that wasn't necessary.
And HOW does. Dr Voller LIVE after being smashed off a train traveling (perhaps) 50mph?
Artistic license is one thing, but sloppiness is another.
It was wonderful seeing "Marion" and."Sallah" again, especially as they aged as Indiana Jones did, but both characters were "wasted" and should have had larger parts.
Our Italian Christmas Memories (2022)
Could've Been Much Better
One story libe was fine (Alzheimer's) because that DOES affect many families, but not ONE family member (especially one that loved cooking and followed that career path) NOT remembering anything about a recipe that was served EVERY Christmas for decades, is a bit of a stretch. NOT bad acting, but the casting was absurd- the young doctor & grandson/brother should've switched characters. Beau Bridges? Italian? C'mon! GOOD casting would've been Joe Mantegna or Tony Danza. A crucifix over the stove? Where do producers and directors come up with these ideas? That's just plain silly! Before watching I correctly predicted the "lost" scene, the "finding of the recipe", and the mispronunciation of Italian phrasing. Typical cookie cutter formula...Disappointing. Lastly, they never mention the town, but the car license plates were from Pennsylvania.
