Projekt Gold - Eine deutsche Handball-WM (2007)
Celebrate the movie!!!
Was the motto for the handball world championship 'Celebrate the Game', the motto for this awesome documentary should be 'Celebrate the Movie'.
Having some elements from the soccer championship movie in it it is still quite different. This 'Projekt Gold' is not as overblown but rather honest and 'real' with a refreshing humor, well, as handball usually is.
Sitting in the movie theater with at least 300 other handball fans, all wearing fake 'Heiner beards' and crowns, it was the best movie experience ever!
Even though everyone obviously knows how it ends, people were holding their breaths as if going through the whole thing again.
Oelsner was able to carry the atmosphere between the players and the coach with all ups and downs into the rows of the audience. At some point you were laughing your head off, at others trying to suppress tears. The emotions from the championship all came back and you basically just clap, yell and whistle as if sitting not in a movie theater but right in the gymnasium watching the game.
Even though you might not be a Handball Fan it is worth watching, since Oelsner was able to show what makes handball such a great teamsport and how to celebrate the Handball World Championship 2007 again. Thanks for that!
Sherlock Holmes und die sieben Zwerge (1994)
All in all a good mixture
This movie presents especially for younger children up to 10 or 11 a very good mixture of adventure and fantasy, if one does not forget that it was made several years ago and therefore the effects aren't as impressive as nowadays. Thank god this movie does not follow the idea of the terribly retold fairy tales from Disney.
An old detective superintendent retires and discovers shortly after wards together with his grandchildren a secret, connected to an old chair, he got as a present for his retirement. This chair is the entrance to the world of fairy tales, introducing names as Grimm, Hauff and Bechstein to children. Now it is left to the grandfather and his grandchildren to save the king of the fairy tales - world and defeat the black magician who wants to conquer the throne.
A well written plot plus funny dialogs, which are especially appealing to and suitable for children, make this movie a nice film in opposition to the forced moralized fairytale-mutilations from Disney and Pixar.
