And Just Like That...: The Last Supper Part Two: Entree (2023)
A depleted and shallow storyline
In all, "And just like that", didn't quite get it for me. I was that audience part watching it for the old glory of SATS.
And for this last episode....ugh... just a pile of ,, glitter and picture perfect costumes and framings,, and nothing more.... The storyline felt so depleted and old. A total waste of time watching it. Only plus side would be, (SJPs)Carrie's magic on screen as a character and offcourse (Kim Catrall) Samantha. She looked and acted out great Spot on.
For season 3, please make a full reset.
The storyline doesn't need so much different characters, and short shallow plots.
Make it alive, dynamic, challenging, not barely living.
Bros (2022)
Beautiful and good on so many levels
It's a great movie. It's a Hallmark type of movie. And if you are not a tad idealistic about love and people creating meaningful relationships in the gay community, than you better stop reading right now. Aside from the first impressions, it's a first movie that I've seen that is depicting our community in a mainstream type a way. As something ,,so normal and every day,, that it pains how much this isn't so around the globe, and even around US. But still, we must watch it and start believing in it. We are bound for happiness and love! It's the society stigma that this movie has so playfully and bravely detached from that makes it so appealing and pleasent to enjoy. The leading actors are excellent. Have great chemistry. Their characters are well explained and have reasonable depth that works great for the storyline. As for the depth, you gonna encounter so many characteristics that we, all as people, from the community come across in life, and across the globe, that you gonna feel relieved to know you weren't alone. The movie centers also around the point that you should always be honest with yourself and your closest environment. Cause being gay is not about fulfilling other people's desire of how you should act, but rather your honesty and strength of character changes them for the better. Again, enjoyed it thoroughly.🙂💪
In from the Side (2022)
Watch it you'll like it 🙂
Just a great movie in all. Maybe some parts were a bit too detailed, but the dynamics of the script and the storyline worked just fine for me, for the whole duration of the movie. Great cast, excellent lead actors. Interesting story and a new fresh approach to, an ever more open and liberated subject in the movie world. The gay people. Not as a group of behind the doors type of story evolving with a melancholic tragic epilogue to their story, but as open fresh and I might add, breaking the ice in depicting the community as diverse and ever so ,,normal,, among the majority of ppl around us. Again watch it you'll like it.🙂💪
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: A Quality of Mercy (2022)
STAR TREK MATERIAL EPISODE 10!
Finally, the acting properly matched! Captain Pike presented authority, a steady hand and wit. As he should have 9 episodes ago. The Romulans portrayed excellently. The story creates momentum of attention. So, please, please, ditch the cowboy 21 century street style acting, over babbling, over detailing the main plot, childish improv's in acting. Continue with this storyline type of character representation and camera portraying, the Romulans discussion on their ship and camera action was spot on along with acting. Cause, now at episode 10, we are starting to see true Trek universe! On the down side I would mention, the camera on the CGI and the space battle scenes being too movie spectacle like, the jazzy soul tune before end-totally not in style with everything previously shown, or Trek style for that matter. Didn't like the Kirk representation-the actor was too young and unlike, especially physically, the original Kirk we all know. And I was hoping to see more coherent story being played in S02, regarding the conflict with the Romulans, but it happens to be different time line.😉 Anyhow, a very pleasant surprise in the last episode for the end of S01.🖖
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
A ,,new attempt,, but..
I have watched all of the before mentioned Trek shows in the last several years, and again it doesn't touch the core of what Trek universe is! I am writing this as a Trek fan, outside USA and am trying to put my head in your shoes, as to the reasons of this continued failure. First thing, I am thinking is, ok, there is a whole new generation out there that is living totally different lives outside of the time of Picard's Enterprise, or Voyager or even Archer's Enterprise from 2004. Second, off course, a lot has changed in the segment of what is being produced and can bring extra profit on US tv programming, and that goes against the time of the before mentioned shows, that didn't bring extra profit and publicity in the beginning, but exactly why had the creative freedom of developing such depths of characters along the years. Just remember the main villain characters od DS9', which seem unimaginable in this time and speed of lives we live in. But at the end, to try to revive a philosophy of a certain genre and type of show, you cannot know/studied its basic principles! And for me, to see acting portrayed in the 24th century or whatever long time in the future era, with a street slang vibe of something current in the US, cause that's where is it's main audience, overbearing tech gibberish language, or over the top-sci fi drama stories, packed in 45 minutes, spiced with a tons of special effects, just comes down to one conclusion for me. The broadcasting networks, the producers and writers making these shows, are just doing this for the short run, basically for the money, and all of this while dragging down the, great, optimistic, balanced, altruistic nature of storyline characters and acting that comes with the true Trek universe. As with the impressions, on the part of Strange new worlds, comes to the same. Shallow and street styled vulnerable and overly chatty characters, that have nothing to do with how Roddenberry imagined our distant future, more even, with a Star fleet disciplined to act on the hight of its challenge. Too emotional drama, to grab audience's attention. Too ease sci-fi stories to swallow right before bed time. Not thinking afterwards, about the lessons it brought with it. In other words, no substance, just shallow branded production for the time being. On the plus side, this show does come closer to the Trek universe, but it needs a lot of adjustment.
