Wednesday (2022)
Fun show but with some flaws
Going into this show I was honestly expecting it to be a trash remake/ spinoff, but I was surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Overall, the best part of the show was Jenna Ortega's acting, somehow pulling of her own unique interpretation of Wednesday while still remaining consistent with the source material. Another positive was how the atmosphere of the show felt comfortable to me, almost Harry Potter like. The side characters were a little bit hit or miss, with characters like Bianca showing excellent development and Enid being the most entertaining character, however, the love interest Xavier and Tyler felt unnecessary and annoying. The story itself was passable, though predictable for a mystery centered show. The reveals were pretty predictable from the beginning but the show was still fun enough and had interesting world building to carry it. I am excited for a second season but I hope they focus more on lore then on romance, unless they somehow improve their romance writing (and I'm sorry but making Enid her love interest probably won't improve it that much)
One Piece Film: Red (2022)
Could've been better
One Piece is an amazing TV anime and one I've been watching for more then a decade. So I was make sure to tune into their movies. While this movie was far from their best, I still enjoyed certain aspects. If you tune in to watch a bunch of fighting (which most fans would've seeing as it is a battle shonen) then the movie is not good. Personally, I thought the musical + battle arrangement was innovative, of course it could've been better but the overall story was able to entertain for the duration (until the last part). I personally found the ending a mix of being extremely cool and extremely cringy, Shanks and his crew can't actually show their power because spoilers so it felt a bit awkward, and the choreography is nothing compared to Stampede. The music and animation was great, but Uta felt annoying, its a waste seeing as I thought she could've been the best movie only character. Overall, fun movie but would not satisfy most fans, particularly those who expect the usual style of One Piece movie.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Fun movie and good use of nostalgia
Spiderman No Way home is the best movie of all the post Endgame MCU movies, while it does heavily rely on nostalgia of the returning characters I still enjoyed the acting, CGI and fight sequences. It could've been executed better and they wasted Dr Strange, but they did not feel like that big of an issue. Aunt May's death was surprisingly sad even if I did call it way before the scene, but how they linked her character with Green Goblin, while not 10/10, did end up working well. Tom Holland once again was amazing, his acting was fun to watch and really captures what Spiderman is as a character. Finally, how they ended all of the villains stories was satisfactory, a fan of the original movies would love this.
