Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two (2023)
Watch for Performance, Direction, Cinematography and Music!!
Ponniyin Selvan 2 by Mani Ratnam is based on Kalki krishnamurthy's novel - Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni). The film is the perfect depiction of the politics that was present back in the time and indirectly portraying how and why it is still relevant today.
The best thing about the movie is the performance, direction, cinematography and music. It is not a typical mass masala movie, so big relief there.
Made from an angle of Chola's history (who ruled the southern part of India from 9th to 13th Century at the height of their power) with a bit of family drama, a good love story between the king and an orphan girl and few other love stories, a story of one's revenge, one's anger, internal politics, betrayal and emotions along with some great action scenes.
Talking about the performances:
1. Chiyaan Vikram has delivered the finest performance in the character of a Chola King. The character has got both, an anger issues and emotions which was portrayed well by the actor.
2. Watching Karthi will remember you of the captain Jack Sparrow but with his own version of natural acting.
3. Jayam Ravi's portrayal of a Chola king will make you forget the rest.
4. Aishwarya Rai and Trisha, both had portrayed the great character of "Beauties with the Brain" women and when you will watch them on screen, the character actually fits well.
Overall, it is a great period drama with minimal Mirch Masala.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023)
A well made boring movie
The movie is full of drama with no proper story, dull dialogues, repetitive action and poor emotions.
This time Salman Khan and the team has onboarded Tollywood to give audience some high voltage action and drama, but still lacks to impress you except one or two instances.
There are so many characters in the movie that are just working for Salman that is just to portray Salman Khan in every scene, eventually impacting their own character and feels boring. With so many actors and characters the movie could have been made better but you will be disappointed.
You might like the songs Yentamma and Billi Billi.
Those who are Vijendra Singh's fans, you will see his punches on the big screen but with no sound effects, hence you might not like them too.
In my view, the movie is just made for Salman Khan's fans. Rest, stay away unless you don't have anything to watch.
Jubilee (2023)
Performance and Direction Opus!!
Jubilee is the perfect cinema piece that shows what cinema is, how cinema is / should be created for the masses, the sparkling and dark side of the cinema, aspiration of many, struggle, control, money, face value, and much more.
It's not easy to show a cinema within the cinema, it takes efforts to connect it with the Audience but #vikramadityamotwane has proved himself yet again with this magical show. This will definitely take you to golden era of the cinema.
Casting could not be better than this:
Aparshakti as an aspiring Actor
Siddhant as an aspiring Director
Prosenjit as one of the big Producer, owner of Roy Talkies
Aditi Rao as big movie Star
Nandish Singh as Theatre Actor
Wamiqa as an aspiring Actor
Shweta Basu as a simple supporting role
Ram Kapur in Financier's role
In my view Aparshakti delivers the best performance compared to all his past films / drama, he has showed his true potential in this show, his versatility can be seen in the character. It feels, the character was just made for him.
And that's not it, what a performance by Siddhant Gupta, for once you would feel he should have been in the race for becoming an Actor. It would have been a tough fight between Aparshakti and him. But you never know, what's coming because the second part is yet to come. Hold your breath until then.
Nandish Singh Sandhu will leave a mark in your heart with his performance even from the less screen space.
Prosenjit's presence in each screen makes the show even bigger, his style and dialogue delivery are top notch.
So, you Cinema Lovers what are you waiting for, go and watch this show today on Amazon Prime Video.
