Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Oscar material.. ROFL
I finally managed to watch the "masterpiece" of MCU..
I remember people (+ celebrities) complaining why this movie was not considered for the Oscars..
I don't know what you guys are smoking (inhaling/etc) but I would like some.
Cinematography is like watching a TV-movie and is actually worse than the video game.
The movie shares the same, super annoying, theme with the PS5 latest game where you hear people talking (spewing BS) 90% of the time and especially during the action sequences. I can't begin to explain how irritating this is for me.
Also, this CGI-fest is PG5 at the most. I don't mind kids movies, but this is for pre-school.
The only redeeming factor is the nostalgia/memberberries that in this case is actually kind of nice and not offensive.
Amsterdam (2022)
A complete misfire
This movie is in a category, for me, created by Fantastic Beasts.
Pretty to look at, good or great actors, interesting (on paper) plot and a total mess in the execution.
The director was going for the bizzare/looney take, he ended up with a parody that does disservice to the story. Actors are laughing on irrelevant moments, stone faced on dramatic moments. We are constantly told about the "great love" of 2 of the 3 main characters and it is the most lifeless romance I have ever witnessed on the big screen. Their love consists of two pathetic kisses that seemed to me like very awkward and forced. Zero chemistry. Just going for the diversity angle.
Many viewers compare this with art, well it is true, sometimes art is truly bad..
Elvis (2022)
The Elvis biopic where you hear anything but Elvis.
The good:
Visual quality.
The Protagonist (???) for Elvis. He was handsome and had the vibe.
Small scenes of his performances.
The Bad:
The soundtrack. A movie about Elvis where you hear rap, lounge remakes by talentless nobodies and 5 second snips of actual Elvis songs.
Tom Hanks. I love him but his character is annoying AF and takes too much screen time.
The direction. So bad that I couldn't believe it. Many people have described it perfectly as a fever dream. Too much movement and panning and choppy editing that it becomes tiresome pretty quickly.
Too much liberty with the dramatisation regarding several aspects of his life and relationships.
Conclusion. A pretty, dizzying mess that leaves you unsatisfied.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: My Moon My Man (2022)
A tragic conclusion to a emotional story.
I knew the ending was going to be "bad" but didn't expect it to hit so hard..
Excellent direction and beautifully realized characters in the leading couple.
I would like to thank the creators for giving heart and emotion to the game world that needed it badly. Not that it didn't have it's moments but nothing this meaningful.
David's story arc reveals where the game failed with the genetic protagonist and why Witcher was so much better.
The metamorphosis of David's character was interesting and believable.
Didn't expect this level of storytelling.
David and Lucy will be dear to me despite the small time i knew them.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Very good story packaged with endless garbage.
This won't take long.
It's a very moving story about the aging protagonist and her crumbling relationships with her closest people (husband, daughter, father).
The cast is excellent, the emotions genuine and the cinematography beautiful.
My problem is the fantasy garbage nonsense this movie had to be packaged with to resonate with the popcorn audience.
There is good weird and there is Tenet weird. This is the later and that is bad for my tastes..
The Witcher: Dear Friend... (2021)
Good episode.
The episode is good and the branching stories interesting but the Netflix influence is getting beyond annoying.
This series has some good casting choices (Gerald, Yen, Jeskier,..) and some poor (Triss, Frigilla, The creepy Commander watch-his-name,..). I still haven't decided about Ciri.
This season has gone full PG-13 and it is really disappointing. Also this full on diversity drive of Netflix is getting on my nerves.
They have race swapped most of the characters and every scene must have a diverse character that the camera has to linger on every time..
I am trying to ignore it but they are relentless.
First season was better so far.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
I would rather watch Snoop Dogg taking a nap for 2h than watch this again..
Pros:
Nice cinematography. That's it.
Cons:
Boring plot.
Obvious twist.
Lingering shots on stuff that are not interesting.
Dislikable characters.
Total lack of communication between the characters.
Besides the mountains the scenery was blant.
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Far from Good.
The pros:
Likeable Holland.
Zendaya grows on you in the 2nd film.
Jake is always a plus
The cons:
Annoying friend.
Magic drones.
Sub par plot.
Tony Stark constant memoriam.
Annoying May.
Cheers: A Fine French Whine (1991)
God awful
I love this series but this episode and especially Kellys character are beyond obnoxious.. A girl that is stupid beyond reason. She makes Woody look like Albert Einstein.
I don't remember any episode that is worse than this.
Castlevania (2017)
Up to 3rd season
Very mediocre stuff.
Positive: characters, some action, some fights.
Negative: most of the drawings, most of the vampires, all of the night creatures..
The worst thing of this series is the monster design. I have never seen a more uninspired design. It is very underwhelming.
Psychonauts 2 (2021)
Any decription and review does not do it justice!
This is by FAR the most unique game I have played, maybe ever.. It is phenomenal. The fantasy behind it is limitless. No two levels are alike. It is Persona 5 (castles) on steroids. The mind levels are beyond description. Characters are cartoonish and lovable and the story bizarre AF.
P. S.:If you don't like platformers you will have a hard time.
Koma (2019)
Interesting idea with spectacular visuals.
Very decent effort in the Sci-fi genre. People in a coma live in a dream world and get to interact with each other.
It's an interesting story but what stands out are the visuals. Great effects shots and dreamlike scenery.
Also I saw on another review that I am not the only one to see the Death Stranding connections (creature design and the structure creation)..
I really enjoyed it.
Man of God (2021)
Good Man
I don't know if he was a Saint but he seemed to be an altruistic selfless man of the cloth..
The story is moving, the character of Nektarios is a holy man who sacrificed his life for faith and his fellow man. Servetalis performance and transformation is fantastic.
Directing is not so great. The film seems like a TV movie at times.
The choice to have English-speaking dialogs was a mistake that cheapens the experience. When actors are forced to speak on a non native language the result is at times amateur like.
Kariofylia Karampeti shines on the couple of scenes she appears.
Mørke (2005)
Did no one read the script?
One of the stupidest scripts I have seen in film.
The protagonist has a suspicion that turns out true and he does nothing with it. He finds evidence and shows them to noone. He is falsely accused of murder and sees no point in sharing his findings with the police. The killer admits to him what he already knows and he is shocked by the "revelation".... and calmly drinks the beverage the killer offers him.
Twin Peaks: Coma (1990)
It is more like a parody
After a mostly normal 1st season the 2nd is of the rails.
I am pretty sure that after the success of the first season director was given cart blanch for the remaining episodes. I am also positive that the instructions on set are go out there and do and say whatever comes in mind..
O anthropos me to garyfallo (1980)
In memory of an iconic political figure.
The movie deals with the last years of Belogannis life, his trial and execution.
It is a shameful part of my country's history that people pretend never happened. The Civil War and the years after are conviniently ignored in the history books.
Unfortunately little seems to have changed since then (regarding foreign powers dictating policy) in this country.
This movie is flawed on a technical level but strong on the story and performances.
Oi treis Harites: Kai o Theos eplase... tin Bebeka (1991)
Middle (late) life crisis
The girls ant decides she wants a divorce, after being married for decades, due to different interests.
Oi treis Harites: Akrotites (1991)
A lot of nonsense
A pretty crazy episode that is more on a annoying side..
Seinfeld: The Little Kicks (1996)
Do I sting??
Oh Elaine, George, Jerry and Cosmo.. since last season you sting and you sting bad..
WTF happened to this series??
Seinfeld: The Bizarro Jerry (1996)
The nightmare of canned laughter
I find it extremely annoying that the stupid fake canned laughter is 3 times louder than the dialogue..
Seinfeld: The Soul Mate (1996)
Oh boy..
How worse can it get??
What the hell happened to this series?
Seinfeld: The Invitations (1996)
Maybe the worst episode.. Ever!
It's not funny that in order to have the moron George single again they had to kill Susan and have everyone be super cool about it..
It really soured the whole series for me.
George was always a moron but to make him this sinister is beyond funny..
It Chapter Two (2019)
Where is the tension? Where is the Horror?? The atmosphere???
I knew it was going to be bad (even though I hoped it would at least have some creepy moments) because the 1st one was also bad. But I still could not help myself.. Still hoping for a worthy adaptation of a king novel (there are a couple).
The cast is good, acting ok but the "scares" are hilarious. The scene at the Chinese place was straight out of a star wars circus.
There is every cliche in the book with extra pointer to make sure "you get it".. Blasphemous references to actual cult films (Alien, Shining, The Thing, Nightmare on Elm St, etc) that feel more like an insult than homage.
NOT ONE moment of tension. NOT A SINGLE scene with atmosphere...
Enough said, I can only blame the "director" for this screw-up.
Breaking Bad: Sunset (2010)
Finally
Finally an episode without the domestic BS of the previous ones on this season..
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Great success!
Denerys was quickly swept under the carpet (after being butchered as a character last episode) so that we could have the LOTR finale for GOT.
Jon was found out or confessed to the unsalied and was not executed instantly because...
Drogon knew the "symbolic meaning" of the iron throne...
Unsalied and Dothraki resurrected again for "cinematic purposes"..
The Stark clan has inherited the whole Westeros because GRR Martin felt bad for screwing them for 7 seasons.
Anyway I am done with this Disney adaptation..
