All Hail King Julien (2014–2017)
9/10
A stroke of creative genius
16 October 2015
Arguably a prequel to the Madagascar movies. This show is set in Madagascar before the penguins arrive and center entirely around the lemurs, in particular King Julien and his somewhat crazy exploits.

You could consider this an upgrade of the penguin series. The format is doubled in length and the result is more complex story lines. The writing is very creative and over the top hilarious with the obvious.

New characters are introduced, chief among which is King Juliens new security adviser. A paranoid female lemur by the name of clover. Leaving Maurice with more fires to put out than normal. I fear for his blood pressure.

Mort has been somewhat sidelined but seems to be a lot more accident prone than usual. Often at the hands of the king himself. Which seem fitting as he is often super annoying.

King Julien is still voiced by Danny Jacobs and he never disappoints. Making this one of the most hilarious shows in years.

I do from time to time miss Skippers frustration. So I must deduct a star. 9/10

Bad excuse for a comedy!
19 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is all about hype and the fact that it's written by one of the most prominent stand-up comedians in Denmark.

Having heard so many good things about this movie I finally decided to watch it, that was a very bad idea.

This movie has been defined as the biggest comedy movie in the last decade. But that's just it, had this been written by some other guy other than Mick Øgendahl (the aforementioned stand-up comedian) this would not even have been labeled comedy. More like a love-story with comic relief.

Thure Lindhardt delivers (as always) a very good performance and Mick Øgendahl is also quite good. Other than that none of the actors are working too well. In fact during Sidse Babett-Knudsens first flashback I got goosebumps because of the bad acting. Normally Unconving at best, but in this movie she delivers a performance which is worthy of the IMDb's bottom 100 list. Giving her a path where she frequently has to speak English is a very stupid idea, mainly due to the reason that she cannot speak the language at all.

This movie is probably the biggest disappointment so far this year and frankly I don't see anything beating it to the finish.

Hard, ugly and disturbing look into the underworld.
6 March 2005
For some reason I felt draw to this movie from the first time I saw the trailer, so of course I had to see it during it's opening weekend and I can say without a doubt this is the best movie this year so far. It's a disturbing look inside the under(drug)world of the 5th largest city in Denmark. Set in the mid 90's the movie follows 3 persons,

Maria (a runaway from home girl). Allan (a guy who left it all when his best friend got jailed, but returns after an accident) Thomas aka. Steso (a very bright and intelligent guy, who does the drug because he likes the mental freedom it provides and acknowledges that he's addicted, but still loves it)

The movie follows the 3 main characters as they struggle with their lives, Allan with trying to get out, Steso with getting more into it and Maria just being where she can't really control her life.

The movie uses no known actors (except for Kirsten Nordholt as Allan's mom and Lars Mikkelsen as Steso's dad), maybe this is a deliberate decision so that the actors and therefore characters doesn't out do each other. And yet the movie is played with a top class performances, by ALL actors (not like Pusher 2 which, except for Mads Mikkelsen, is played so poorly that one has a hard time feeling for the characters). The 3 main characters does a very breathtaking performance, but everyone else does also great job, all the way from Pernille Vallentin Brandt as Tilde to Rudi Köhnke (who by the way looks a lot like Joaquin Phoenix) as Frank. Everybody delivers an absolutely outstanding performance.

This movie is based on a book by the same name, I haven't read the book so I cannot comment on the level of integrity toward the book. But I can say that I love this movie.

It's a 9/10, if you liked Christiane F. or Pusher, then you'll love this one. It's a Hard, ugly and disturbing look into the underworld.

Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart are amazing
29 February 2004
So I was bored a saturday night and decided to go to the movies with one of my buddies and for some reason we ended up buying tickets for this movie. At first I was very sceptical because I really didn't think Ashton could play drama.

But the end of the movie I was so amazed that I had come to believe it was the best movie I've spent on a movie for along time. The storyline is extremely well written and all the 12 key actors/actresses (the 4 main characters over 3 time settings) are all doing a great job. But I have to say that Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart are amazing. I would say this movie is a don't miss because of the well written story and very convincing acting by almost everybody in this movie.
