The Finder (2012)
10/10
Come on People, Canceled with an Asterisk
3 April 2024
The Finder got canceled because one of the main characters, Michael Clarke Duncan, could not continue to do the show. Tragically, he died far far too soon at the age of 54, from respiratory failure brought on by a heart attack 6 weeks earlier that was two months after the final episode of Season One aired. His death reverberated throughout Hollywood for many months afterward, he was loved and respected by all who knew him and/or worked with him. He was a genuine good soul, a giant of a man in stature and kindness. Although he was gone from this world too soon he left an indelible body of work that will live on forever...

Chicago Fire: Red Flag (2024)
Season 12, Episode 7
4/10
Sadness and Surprise
27 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If this, Season 12, isn't the final season of Chicago Fire then next season (13) will be when the network orders a shortened schedule of episodes to wrap up the series. I have never seen any show go from so great to so-so at best in so short a time. The writer's strike that marred the entertainment industry for.nearly half of 2023 seems to have played a big part in the show's decline but not the only part. The show runners in recent years have shuffled the cast much too often. I kind of see the use of a big departure like Casey's but then a great new character like Mason comes on board only to be shown the door unceremoniously after a short arc. Now they get rid of Brett and Gallo almost simultaneously and a solid new character, Gibson. Is already in the wind, that;s just bad for business. I am very surprised the episode ratings have remained around 8.0 because I cannot see how this show can continue to go.

FBI: Imminent Threat: Part Two (2023)
Season 5, Episode 17
2/10
Agreed X 2
5 December 2023
Two stars because what I saw of story arc it seemed like it had some potential but i have no idea how story began or ended. I completely agree with the other two reviews wonder why episode began in middle. The only time I saw Most Wanted was the 3-4 times their characters were on parent show and (I don't know his name) the lead on Most Wanted is awful. So, too, are a couple of the other characters. They do far too many crossovers. I watch many episodes of FBI on ION so when Episode 17, Season 5 airs it airs between Episode 16 and 18... of FBI., not FBI International, not FBI Most Wanted. It is ridiculous. Chicago Fire and PD do same but both those shows are good enough to watch. Stop trying to constantly force these spin offs down our throats. I am okay if they do it once, even twice to get ball rolling on new show but it seems like there are two or three every season. Enough!

Great series, an all time favorite, but...
1 December 2023
One of my all time favorite TV series, a very short list. Every season was fantastic - great characters, great acting, great writing through and through that's what made this Finale very very tough to swallow. They fumbled at the half yard going into the end zone on a breakaway TD. I saw a couple reviews that were spot on. Everyone forgot how to act and the music was dreadful for the last 10 minutes, it left a bad taste in my soul. I give the episode a 6 because it did wrap up story lines nicely but what the heck was that final stretch? It was so inexplicably awful, I do not understand how they got the first 99.89% of the show so right and miss the sundae the bowl the entire table trying to put the cherry finish on top...

NCIS: Too Many Cooks (2023)
Season 20, Episode 10
9/10
Aye Aye Aye
20 November 2023
This is a gripe more than a review. I did give it 9/10 because I do love the additions of Gary Cole and Katrina Law and, in my opinion, NCIS (DC) doesn't get enough love since Gibbs' departure. I do agree with many of the points made in the Eye Roller's review but i rarely overthink anything I see in any episode as long as it was even marginally entertaining because that means it was a good distraction. However, in full disclosure, I would have to give my rating as "Incomplete" since I was able to watch only one-third of the crossover. I did enjoy watching three different NCIS-verses working together in one episode, that was a lot of fun. Okay, back to my gripe - I often watch my "new" episodes on ION and when these crossovers play they leave you hanging big time because the next episode after NCIS Season 20, Episode 10 is NCIS Season 20, Episode 11 not NCIS Hawaii Season 2, Episode 10, it is super lame. Either remove any crossovers from the rerun rotation or play the entire story line in the correct order. They already skip 1 or 2 episodes here and there occasionally, at least do it for the right reasons...

FBI: All That Glitters (2021)
Season 4, Episode 1
5/10
No Idea
17 October 2023
I can give it only a 5 because I have no idea how it plays out. They run part one of a three part crossover on ION and they just play next episode in FBI season, you have no way of knowing it's even a crossover unless you go to IMDB because the ending is totally baffling since you're left hanging. Either pull it from schedule rotation or follow it up with actual Part Two and then Part Three, good grief, it cannot be that difficult. ION does the same thing with every crossover, do they have a monkey pushing buttons at a control board? Or is a real person just blindly going through the motions? Come on, it is 2023, get your act together!

NCIS: New Orleans (2014–2021)
9/10
Like a Fine Wine
7 September 2023
This show got better with the new characters that were added due to the departure of some actors, it is rare for a procedural show to pull off but NCIS New Orleans did a great job. Gregorio was a HUGE improvement over Brody, Hannah Khoury was sooooo much better than Percy and, I may be in the minority, I believe Agent Carter.was better than LaSalle in every way. Throw in the additions of Pride's half brother Jimmy and Pride's love interest down the show's final stretch, Rita (Scott Bakula's real life wife Chelsea Field), and you end up with a show that was much better at the end. The main NCIS (with McGee) also does a great job of adding new characters, NCIS Los Angeles, however, does not.

I believe NCIS New Orleans hit its stride about a third of the way into Season 6 when Agent Carter (played by the very underrated Charles Michael Davis) comes on board. It is definitely a show worth sticking with, just be patient.

Just Shoot Me! (1997–2003)

Wow. Great Show that has Gotten Very Little Love
7 February 2023
I was rabbit-holing on the internet, I cannot remember now what I chased into the hole, and yada yada yada I am trying to remember the name of that David Spade, George Segal, shrink from NCIS show from the Y2K-ish era. I IMDB search to get shrink's name (sorry Laura San Giacomo, I am forgetting too many things at my age.)(Side-bar PS - You look fantastic M San Giacomo!) Anyway, I got here via her name and was shocked to see overall rating of 6.9. I agree 100% zmos69's show review and would love to know the answer to their question - how does Scrubs have a rating 1.5 points higher than Just Shoot Me?? My guess is shows with mischievous, subtle humor like Just Shoot Me never resonate with mass audiences but that's as far as my theory goes because I don't know why they don't resonate. It's a bummer, though, hopefully people trying to find a good comedy to watch look past Just Shoot Me's low-ish rating and take a chance after they see the incredible cast this show had. I promise anyone who does give it a go: You will not be disappointed.

Maybe My Favorite Marvel Movie
23 January 2023
The trailers for this entry into the Marvel Universe didn't do it any favors. I had zero desire to see this move when it was released. It looked, from the trailers, like Brie Larson was a terrible choice to be Captain Marvel. Turns out, I could not have been more wrong. I "accidentally" caught this movie on TNT when it came on after something else I watched, I was working on my laptop and never bothered to find remote, I started really paying attention about 25-30 minutes. Loved this movie. Have Direct TV so after watching most of Captain Marvel on East Coast feed I paid attention start to finish on West Coast feed. Movie had a perfect balance of levity, drama and action; reminded me a lot of the first Ironman, now I cannot imagine anyone besides Brie Larson in the lead, she was fantastic Don't listen to the naysayers, if you're on the fence, WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Hope
20 January 2023
I watched every episode, in order, for the first six seasons of Chicago PD. It was intense, it had an edge other mainstream TV cop shows didn't have. Ultimately, that same intensity pushed me away. I still catch a few episodes each season in real-time. I caught this episode and was very glad I did, for a couple reasons. First and foremost, it was a very good episode. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews until I noticed a common element in many of those not so positive reviews - disappointment in seeing an original character, Jay Halstead, in his final episode. However, as I said, there were a couple reasons I really liked this one and my second reason was because it was Jay Halstead's last hurrah. Good riddance, his aloof "I am better than all of you" personality was irritating in season 3 and his heightened, seemingly endless moral standoff with Voight was beyond tedious in seasons 8, 9 & 10. Too bad he didn't take Hailey off into the sunset with him...

Roundtree and Namazi Need to Retire
9 January 2023
Used to love this show, it had more levity than the original even when the stories seemed a bit stale. I understand Linda Hunt cannot due a weekly procedural anymore but would still like to see her a little more often. Gerald McRaney has done a fantastic job filling her shoes so her loss hasn't created too big of a hole. The problem with show now is Roundtree and Namazi they are both bad actors that add very little to the the show. Neither one of the characters has ever been any good. Namazi whines way too much and Roundtree is just blah. Individually and as a team they are ruining the show. I hope the show runners realize this sooner rather than later and get rid of those two and replace them with something watchable.

Some Love
2 January 2023
After reading the other reviews I felt this episode needed some of the love it deserves. I love Gary Cole as Agent Parker, Gibbs' time had come and they did a great job with his exit earlier in season. However, I get the feeling many people are still upset with the departure then give new episodes bad reviews. Parker deserves a blank slate, an open mind from all the viewers and I think they'd come around. He adds MUCH needed levity to the head of the team that Gibbs had been lacking for some time. Also, it feels like people that say the new cast doesn't have any chemistry are watching a different show than what I am watching. I think the one thing this show has always done well is keep good chemistry amongst the main characters. I was afraid the loss of Bishop would have a much bigger impact than Gibbs leaving.but Agent Knight has been as good if not better than Bishop who tended to be mopey more often than not the last few seasons. I truly believe NCIS could have another 5-7 strong years if people just stop dwelling on the past and enjoy now and the bright future ahead.

Good news or bad news first?
24 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Good news is this was a great episode - lot of action, lot of drama, suspenseful and it employed the back and forth time jumping to perfection. The bad news, unfortunately, it was the last episode with the character Lori Weston which dropped my overall rating from a 9/10 to the 7. I thought she was a fantastic addition to the 5-O Unit. Season 2 was the best of the 10 season run, in my opinion, and Lori had a lot to do with the show's success. But one show's loss was another show's gain as Lauren German jumped almost immediately onto a new show (at the time), Chicago Fire and became a huge part of that show's early success.

I Regret Not Walking Out
8 March 2022
From the trailer, I had high hopes, I really looked forward to seeing Matt Reeves' vision for the Caped Crusader. Unfortunately, I was disappointed on every front - story, pacing, acting, all terrible with a few exceptions; Colin Farrell as Oz is a revelation, Andy Serkis as Alfred is fantastic and in their limited screen times Paul Dano & John Turturro crush it as always (the Bat Mobile was awesome too). Everyone else overacts or appears to be new to acting and with a runtime of nearly 3 hours it's practically torture. This movie could've told the exact same story in 90-95 minutes, EASILY. When they set up a sequel near the end I didn't know whether to be angry or sad or just laugh. I would not recommend this movie to my worst enemy.

Extremely Average
27 June 2021
With all the acclaim and awards I had high hopes going in but was completely underwhelmed. I was hoping for a Growth of the Soil type epic feel goodfest.but was disappointed at every turn. The only "message" I took away was 'Women are impossible to please." which is awful, I know.. If you make the mistake of watching this movie, tell if you get anything different...

Good News or Bad News?
29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, there is only good news - my 10/10 rating isn't for this episode's story, I give this episode a perfect score because it is LaSalle's final episode. I like. Lucas Black as an actor but LaSalle is just a bad character who, I feel, dragged the overall potential of this show way down. Show got soooooooo much better after his departure. Kudos to Lucas for exploring new career paths and kudos to writers for giving him the send off he deserved.
