Animation vs. Minecraft Shorts (2017)
Lore
AvM shorts first started off as a episodic story where nothing much happen. Until season 3.
Plot: nothing much to say about the plot, season 1 and 2 where mostly episodic and nothing much happened until we where introduced to Purple and King Orange. These 2 characters made the show immensely successful.
Characters: King Orange is mostly a perfect character with a sad origin story, likability, and an amazing wrap up character that made the most out of his character potential. Purple, also villain who have a sad villain origin, mostly a disappointment but other than that these characters changed everything for the show.
King Orange and Purple both become father and son, the color gang got what they needed and ended on a satisfying tone, and everything was reversed. However King Orange's actions done in season 3 where mostly reversed meaning he didn't have to pay for any of the costs and responsibilities he must face.
The series overall: But overall it was a great season...yet again, it wasn't a season...it was a single episode that saved this series. Season 1 and 2 basically had nothing and the show had almost pull out of the series forever.....and I'm glad i didn't.
Oddballs (2022)
Inexperienced Creator
Now first of all, it's not terrible and it's light years better than velma. But it's still pretty bad.
Plot: the plot is a very early 2000s kind of episodic story structure. A kid in a small town full of friends and wacky adventures. James is the creator of the show' meaning he is a bit inexperienced with these. Oddballs is a kids show, but is being watched by adults. So that combination lacks entertainment so it's obvious the audience is expecting serialization...unless the kids show is bluey, then that's fine.
Characters: 2 seasons into this series and the characters lack everything, max is just there because their best friends but they don't explore why that's the case, it just happens. Echo is a time traveling kid from the future, an "odd" combination? Yes. But did they push her limits?... No' of course not. It's unexplained why this character matters at all. Mr. Mcfly is james and Max's head teacher and they do wacky stuff with this character but he's more of a plot device than a character. Max's parents and James's parents are just their cause why not. The entire show lack diversity where it reaches the 4th dimension.
The Actual Story: plots and stories are different in mumy opinion. The plot is where the show is beginning and it's surrounding environment, and story is the beginning to the end and everything in between. Like i said 2 seasons into this series and every character barely matters. The only serialized part about the story is where toasty lives in the end of s1e1 and then came back s2e8 just for this character to be completely wasted. I guess toasty was the reason why echos timeline got nessed up and had to stick along for the series. But that precious potential was also wasted.
I think in season 1 they should have given depth into side characters more and end the first season with the ending of season 2 then serialize the story a bit in season 2 and don't let any possible potential be wasted.
But for now oddballs is at it's "All Time Low"
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
A Flawed Masterpiece
I personally enjoyed the movie and i think it could've been better in many ways.
Plot: the plot of the movie was simple and predictable, an adventure with sentient robots and humans where a world ending scenario. The plot has been overdone a lot.
Characters: the characters where absolutely great, chris and noah where absolutely great along side alana. The transformers themselves where also great. Mirage, optimus, scourge, and many more.
Conflict: honestly the conflict was poor alongside the final climax of the movie. We all know world ending scenarios are predictable so the final climax was sorta wasted. I think the conflict would be more powerful if personal situations accrued.
Deaths (MAJOR SPOILERS): in the movie bumblebee and mirage died and it was a more heartbreaking moment cause it would have made the final climax have more tensions, instead bumblebee and mirage both came back in the end and everything else from their was predictable. The only permanent death was airazor, and airazor's character was kinda wasted.
But everything but that was amazing, the cgi and vfx was stunning and battle was great. Sure the villians where also sorta wasted. But hey if it works, it works.
