Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003)
One of the best installments of the Star Wars franchise
Just finished this game, decades after its' release, and despite the game's old age, I still immensely enjoyed it (perhaps more than most modern videogames). This game offers a very rich story, which feels very different from what Star Wars is usually known for, at least among casual fans like me, who are only familiar with the movie saga and a couple of serialized spin-offs. The world of the Old Republic manages too look both very different from the typical Star Wars aesthetics, while still maintaining the unmistakable feel of this universe.
Like I've said before, the game shines with its' story and characters. The game also has a lot of variety in terms of providing the players with numerous branching choices, which can have tremendously different consequences.
I was a bit annoyed about a couple of aspects, like the lack of fast travel to numerous parts of the hubs, a couple of game-breaking bugs and a slightly rushed ending (I just think that this game could've used an "epilogue", like most major RPG titles, where the player either gets to learn how will his choices reflect on the world for the years to come, or just to have one last talk with your companions and other major characters and learn what are they going to do next with their lives. Personally, I just wanted something more concrete than a 30-second "everyone is happy" final cutscene after beating the final boss and saving the day).
Nonetheless, it's still an amazing game.
