Lenin kam nur bis Lüdenscheid - Meine kleine deutsche Revolution (2008)
easy watching
the best movies almost happens by chance - to me while channel hopping at night. the topic of this reality-documentary is quite similar to 'wickie, slime and paiper' but without any of these famous items of the 70s. replaced by 'blochin, dkp and Vietnam'. a successful mixture of irony and history - captivating. one had heard rumors about communist families in the 1960s and 70s but never known anybody out of such surrounding. you will be told about life as a boy in a 'revolutionary' family. a boy that was not different to other kids his age but with his idols DDR, Moscow and the soccer-team of dynamo Kiev - right in the middle of west-Germany! paired with private S8-tapings and some out of TV-news of these days. a very likable movie.
Bailar para vivir (2003)
a smooth quiet unexcited jewel
i suddenly was in this documentary while zapping through channels - and it keeps me to stay like being under magic charm - and charming is the right word for this masterpiece. the protagonists don't look handsome or behave like stars but in the end they are my stars of daily life. a life that is worth to live because of the "danzon". no matter if you are blind, transvestite, street cleaner, priest, taxi driver, 80 or 18 or 8 years. they are connected in their common pleasure and joy of dancing. dancing in the "salon Mexico" or "los Angeles" or even at a well known plaza in the town together with 100s of other dancing couples. and all are respected whatever they dance unless they move their feet in the rhythm of the music. "staying healthy and live long" is the plan, nothing more nothing less.
