The Marvels (2023)
A disgrace to Marvel
If you can't come up with story which is as good as recent Endgame, Spiderman, Dr Strange then don't come up with something which is as lousy as this.
Nothing was right from start to end. Usually the first few minutes is the ideal time to capture the attention of the audience but this movie fails to do that miserably. It was so confusing that I lost interest from the start.
By the time you start to acknowledge and make peace with the fact that this is going to be a waste of time but you should just sit back and enjoy the movie and finish your popcorn, you figure out that you have watched dozens of the same predictable plot.
Extremely extremely disappointed at myself for eagerly waiting for this movie and suggesting friends to watch the first day first show.
Will never ever trust trailers of movies. From now on will wait and watch after reading reviews and ratings.
Antarjal (2023)
😶😶😶
Watched yesterday along with a good number of audience as it was a Friday. Quite a few people left before the movie was over. I wanted to leave as well but assumed it would get better after the interval but it didn't.
I didn't like the Thai guy. Disappointing locations of Thailand were chosen. The story had no deapth. As an audience I didn't feel engaged or involved. Could not relate or feel sorry or love for any of the characters.
The movie seemed mostly like the plot of a si fi TV series of the 90s. Apart from that there were:
1. Too many songs
2. Absence of edge of the seat or impactful moments
3. Predictable storyline
4. Good cast but they were not given a chance to show their acting skills
5. Poor choreography, cinematography and stunt direction
6. Dialogues were below average
7. The dialogues about the technical concerns were complicated and I was lost most of the time
This is my personal review which some of you may or may not agree with. Will still continue to watch Bangla movies as we need to support our industry.
Would request movie directors to understand what the audience wants and make movies accordingly.
The Nun II (2023)
If you have nothing better releasing in your country than watching this wouldn't be such a bad idea!
A very uncomplicated and simple storyline. Actors were good. Was expecting to have Valak back with all her glory but was disappointed.
In the second half there was a creature with horns. Couldn't see it properly. They called it the devil but it's fate was unresolved.
The climax wasn't impactful enough as the previous so I was a bit disappointed. It could have been prolonged a bit more. While watching the climax I assumed it was just a warm up before the final big bang but then realized that is it.
It was a boarding school and the class had several children but the climax included only around six. Was wondering where the others were when so much distructon was going on in campus.
The name of the movie is The Nun. I assume it refers to the bad nun who should be given more screen time.
Finally It was not a bad movie but nothing that magnificent either. I hope the next sequel is better than the trailer.
Surongo (2023)
Not a dull moment
The movie succeeds in keeping audience at the edge of their seats all throughout. The story could not have been told in a better way. It was heartbreaking to seen Masud beg his wife to return. Nisho and Tama were superb. I've also become a Selim fan after this movie. Apart from the item song it didn't copy any scenes or ideas from any Hindi movie and that was very refreshing. Most of the locations were set it the beautiful Chittagong. It's annoying that many people have unnecessarily exaggerated and termed it as an adult movie or else this original movie has all the qualities to break all records.
