After the Pandemic (2022)
It's a shame
It is a shame that this movie went straight to YouTube, it never really got a fair go. I hope that at the least it spotlighted the actors.
It is a low budget production, the fact that it was released in 2022 and on YouTube before 2023 says a lot.
Too many people are judging this production harshly, maybe it's the soft lesbian feel between our heroes or maybe people expect big budget movies for free.
Honestly, it's not that bad, watch it and judge for yourself.
I have seen far worse in low budget films, at least the acting and direction were solid as was the sound effects and music score. Watch it for what it is, not what it could have been with CGI and a few million dollars more.
The Satan Bug (1965)
Well crafted and enjoyable to watch
There are so many future stars in this movie, the actors are first class and the direction flawless. Obviously low budget but that doesn't stop the story being well presented. Uncomfortably the thought that a government could manufacture an extinction level event virus is in the post COVID world vastly more chilling than it was in 1965 when this movie was made. I would like to see a remake now that we have so much footage of civilians in masks. The only thing missing in this film is footage of the panicked evacuation of LA, it is spoken about but not shown, today there is a substantial amount of footage of riots and panic in LA. A remake would be brilliant, although topping the original would be difficult.
