The Last Dance (2020)
Definitely worth seeing
I would have given it 10 stars, but there was one thing I didn't like. And that was that Kerr takes such a big part in it (even on the cover) whereas Harper und Longley are almost completely ommited (Longley even more than Harper). I mean Kerr of cource contributed to that team, but nowhere close to Harper and Longley. Yeah, he hit that one important shot, but so did Paxson earlier. He wasn't even in the starting line-up most of the times. Also Kukoc was a far more important player for the Bulls considering the whole season (and I'm sure Kerr would agree with me on that).
Apparantly Harper und Longley were not willing to be interviewed for this documentary. It just could have been even better with them in it.
Nevertheless I really enjoyed watching it and can recommend it to old school fans as well as to people who want to get an impression of that great era of basketball.
The Pledge (2001)
Can't understand what problem many people have with this one.
This movie is a great adaption of the 1958 german movie "Es geschah am hellichten Tag". I personally like it even a little better than the original.
It is exciting to watch (no as many "empty scenes" as the original) and creates a compelling atmospere. Also the ending might seem a bit strange to some viewers and differs from the original, but I liked the idea.
Dune (1984)
Worst David Lynch movie I know
...and I've seen quite a few.
Visually it's pretty good, especially considering the year it was made. But that is not enough for a good movie unless you're on under the influence of some psychoactive substance, which I unfortunately wasn't when I watched it.
To be honest, I would have stopped watching after about 20 minutes. If this wasn't a David Lynch movie probably almost nobody would give a crap about it.
I found it pretty annoying that you can hear the person's thoughts all the time. Even if that is part of the book (which I haven't read), they would have just omitted it.
Stings appearence is so ridiculous. It's so obvious they created his role or put it so much in the focus just to make him a prominent part of the movie.
Most of the time to movie is not that bad, just boring somehow.
The worst thing is the end which is just so rushed. It's like the makers got lost in it at some point and then had to finish it within a given amount of time.
Well I'm looking forward for the version that is going to be published this year. I'm pretty sure it will be better than this, because that's not very hard to do.
Without the good screenplay I would have given it an even lower rating.
Schule (2000)
Quite authentic, if you graduated in Germany
To be honest, this movie just gets the vibe of Germany's upper schools around the millenium. I know, cause I was there.
