Thor (2011)
falls short
Cons: -Bad script. I don't know where to start. At the beginning of the movie, Thor and his friends came to an agreement to go destroy that realm in which the iron giants dwell. When they confronted with dozens of iron giants there, who were ready to defend their soil and their lives, Thor's friends suddenly began to snivel about it. What were they expecting? Red carpet? Thor became worthy of becoming the king of Asgard overnight. No character development whatsoever. Makes no sense at all. I didn't even understand what was that about when Skaarsgard got Thor out of SHIELD's detention and how he did it. Bad guys being bad without a motive etc...
-Worst editing i've ever seen in a big budget, summer blockbuster movie. Constant cuts which weren't supposed to be there, often in the middle of a scene or a dialogue.
-Careless, even sloppy acting overall.
-Action scenes are a mess.
Pros: +Some amusing moments.
+Lead actor, although average at best, wasn't sloppy. Amid all the bad acting, he makes the movie watchable at least.
+Nice CGI scenery from time to time.
The Expendables (2010)
Total Letdown
I have nothing against Slyvester Stallone. In fact, i'm a fan of both Rocky and Rambo series. Especially the last Rambo movie was brilliant. So, i had high hopes for this one, not just because of the cast, but also i was hoping to see another intense action movie directed by him.
But unfortunately this movie disappointed me in every way. First of all, the script is pure crap. It's like they started shooting the movie with an uncompleted script. Or cut half of it randomly. Dialogues are totally pointless, boring and not funny at all. Character development is non-existent, it's hard to be sympathetic towards any of the characters. For example, i doubt anyone would notice, if Jet Li had been dropped out of the movie halfway through. I really didn't understand why he accepted the role anyway. Throughout the movie, he just shows up randomly, gets beaten and tries to be funny. That's it. Even the action sequences are far from impressive and badly directed, particularly the martial arts scenes. And last, but not least, acting is so poor that Sylvester Stallone looks like he's a parody of himself.
It's like Stallone summoned his friends and said, "Hey, let's shoot some random sh*t and make some money". I hope he works with a better screen writer next time. I give this movie 1 star, plus 2 for Jason Statham only.
Tosun Pasa (1976)
recommended
it's a real funny film that will guaranteed to make you laugh. an incredible cast and brilliant performances make this film a master piece for Turkish cinema. it's about a poor (and a bit stupid) man who acts as Tosun Pasa who is a strong, rich and famous commander. lucky for the poor man that the people who he tries to deceive have never seen Tosun Pasa before. from then some romance and lots of comedy is waiting for you to watch and have fun. it's not a wonderful story by all means though, but it doesn't mean that the film isn't good. it's a wonderful film that will make you laugh and feel good. definitely 5 out of 5! and if you like this film (you're gonna like it!), then check out "Sut Kardesler" and the series of "Hababam Sinifi".
