Killing Eve (2018)
Well That Went Downhill Fast... and Far
The first season is excellent and certainty worth watching.
Jodie Comer seriously plays psychotic perfectly. Pulls off a complete disconnection from normal emotional reactions. Her ability to act one way and do a complete 180 in a blink is so well done.
Sandra Oh plays the square housewife well in season one and two. The episodes are well shot and well paced with some dark humor thrown in.
Then, it happened. I'm not sure what type of relationships the writer has had with women, but I can assure you that they all aren't borderline psychotic lesbian ninjas.
Season three and four didn't need to be made. Somewhere between season three and season four Sandra Oh became a super bike riding, super marksman MMA black belt ninja mind reader that can bed men (dimes) half her age. Same lady that had a psychotic break when she poked her nemesis at the end of season one.
The only normal character we care about dies episode one of season three.
Show runners don't know how guns work, how fights work, how physics works and so on. People just teleport all over the globe to be where they need to be exactly when they need to be there.
By the end we didn't give a flying fornication about anyone left standing and we're just waiting for it to end.
Fool's Paradise (2023)
No Movie Has Done Less With More
So much talent. It seemed like this wasn't really done for the audience. Much like Movie 43 was really written for Hollywood insiders. But at least some of the bits in Movie 43 were funny.
This was all one bit, and if you don't like that bit, you won't like the movie. We didn't like the bit.
As usual, Ken's over the top acting is a huge miss in this one. With him being the central character, it's tough to swallow.
Also, the movie doesn't take advantage of Charlie Day's biggest asset, his voice. Keeping him mute for nearly the entire movie is a crime.
Adrian's work was pretty well done.
Ray played Ray Liotta as usual, RIP.
Edie was great.
Cameo by Jason playing Jason Bateman with a tennis ball cannon was excellent.
Sprung (2022)
Not Subtle: Based on Actual Events
Anyone that doesn't appreciate Greg Garcia's work doesn't understand comedy.
The characters have amazing depth. There are so many subtle callbacks to things they said.
Having the straight man having been kept from society for so long really gives the story some places to go.
I speak from experience when I say that the poor white trash references they make are legitimate, and hilarious.
It's seriously a work of genius. Non-stop laughs. Pokes fun at American politicians, fears, and pop culture.
It's a show that really calls out the mass idiocy regarding the pandemic.
I can't wait to see where it goes.
Invasion (2021)
As a veteran
This show is a disaster. So many mistakes as to how the military reacts, how they dress, how they interact.
It's pretty much a hot mess of a show.
Almost all the kids need some serious acting classes.
The graphics are good, the aliens are pretty scary.
I don't believe the show runners understand how humans work. At some point, an uncle saves his nephew from drowning, he's kicked out of the household for yelling at the kid. Wait, what? He SAVED YOUR KID'S LIFE!!!
Season one was okay. So far, season two is a grind.
And to fill the character minimum, I will also share that I really like tacos, I really don't care what they are.
