C'era una volta il West (1968)
Poorly Edited
A perfect example of what happens when there is little or no post-production editing..at least half this ponderous mess should have been left on the edit room floor..Leone's obsession with trivial nuance- such as the fly on Elam's face- also helped ruin what was actually a decent plot...Bronson playing the harmonica was also a stupid gimmick which was about as believable as Santa Clause..great cast..some very fine scoring...some wonderful scenery....some very good dialogue..all brought to it's knees by poor editing and stupid gimmicks...too bad...apparently there are many that feel this was some sort of masterpiece..but it would be an excellent teaching tool in a movie-making class about what happens when a film is not edited
Burn Notice (2007)
what is up with this jesse character???
Burn Notice is definitely one of the very best TV series to come along in years!!...When a seasoned US intelligence agent gets "burned" and loses his standing..where does he go??..well,,, home to mom....where else!!...truly a refreshing look at an old premise..but all the twists and turns keep it fresh and interesting..and the three initial cast members have an excellent chemistry...until the addition of the character Jesse!...sorry, but am I alone on this??..just don't like the look of him, or the sound of him for that matter..there were at least a dozen other former guest stars on the show that would have made a fine addition to the "team"...so what were they thinking when they added this guy as a regular??...I just don't understand it...and the "love connection" between him and Fiona is simply repugnant as far as I am concerned....I keep hoping with each new episode that he gets killed or ejected somehow...it's getting to the point where it is ruining the show for me...they REALLY blew it adding this joker to the regular cast..
Der Ölprinz (1965)
Absolute Drivel
I must admit I am not really a fan of foreign westerns- and as an American- why should I be!? ..but this one really takes the cake- I could not even finish watching this rotten tomato...totally fake voices, poor audio dubbing, actors that are the fakest excuse for Indians I have ever seen..an almost blatant disregard for a coherent plot..constant injections of idiotic scenes which have little or nothing to do with the story...lousy script, terrible actors..just FAKE, FAKE , FAKE in every respect...how I made it through an entire hour I do not know..How in the world these other people can give this movie a good review is beyond me- but it just goes to show that the vast majority of these reviews are from people who would not know a good movie if it walked up behind them and bit them in the gluteus maximus
The Omen (2006)
an insulting disaster
topping the original would be difficult..however, with the technical options available to movie makers these days, some very interesting effects could have been brought to bear to actually make a comparable remake...but with the poor casting, the insipid approach of the actors , and an obviously unimaginative director, this almost total copy-cat remake of the original is actually insulting to the 1976 version..where does the " remake it to make a quick buck" mind set of current Hollywood projects end? The more I watched this disaster, the madder I became...PLEASE....no remake of Omen 2..I am begging you!! I honestly don't think anyone involved with this project ever even saw the original..or they would have understood the mantle of responsibility involved with remaking the movie..and would have tried to make it better..not just producing this steaming pile of dung they came up with...
