Well, if you have read any of my other reviews, you will certainly know that i am a huge fan of the amityville movies (except amityville curse, god that is a crap movie). i have managed over the last 5 years or so to see all the amityville movies (especialy amityville dollhouse, my favourite). But this remake of the original 1970s Amityville horror surpasses all its predecessors. I know that many people will disagree by saying ohhh its all special effects the acting crap and the story has been lost, but in my opinion the special effects are kept quite minimalist and the true tenseness is still there. there are lots of jumpy bits which really made me and my friend scream ( specially the werewolf creature in the barn oh my god scary stuff) but that aside the acting is fantastic the effects top the movie and the story if anything is a lot more scary then the original. if like me you love a good scream then watch this film you will not be disappointed.

p.s. just had a thought what if they start to remake the other 7 amityville movies, oh no, i can see this heading down a black hole.

i am so pleased i bought this movie at first i thought oh dear lets hope the film is more original then the title and to my surprise it was. this movie is full of action and suspense from the beggining, it has special effects like you expect to see in big blockbuster hits and even though the acting is a little on the over the top side its made up for by the brilliant gore and spider special effects.

contains spoilers the govenment is carrying out experiments on a spider and injecting it with alien DNA but when a sola flare hits the space craft were the experiment is taking place the spider escapes and begins to kill of the crew one by one then laying egges in a surviver with boldging bodyparts the special effects really get going when the spider comes out of the hosts mouth and begins to attack anyone in its path including three nosey college newspaper reporters the spider is finaly killed but not before laying egges in its creater ( some phsyco messed up bloke) who when the students get out of the lab underground find there boss dead and the phsyco bloke sitting in there seat then the spider is born. the spiders leggs come out of the back of the bloke and it grows as big as 3 double decker bussess. the spider then gets into the city ( with amazing real special effects) reaking horror werever it goes. i wont tell u the end because hopefully by now your on the edge of your seat and you will have to by or rent this movie 9/10

This movie is so good it is so weird. it realy makes you think. the special effects on a scale of 1-10 on average a 6 maybe a 7 if your having a good day the acting 1-10 7 not bad at all and the horror 1-10 9 a real classic haunted house story what people miss in modern horrors today.

spoilers a man buys his dead aunts house not knowing that she hung herself. the mans so had gone missing years before and he keeps having nightmares about his missing son and about his time in the vietnam war then the horror begins the house starts brining his fears to life he and there are lots of messed up demon creatures and a decompossed friend from the war.

this movie is a real toung in cheeck jump out your seat kind of movie

Oh my god this movie is sooo scary it is so messed up the blood my god the gore, it is REALY intense i was craping my pants through the whole of this movie

spoilers a st bernard dog is bitten by a bat and it gets infected and it sends him phsyco. a woman and her son go to a mechanics house to get her car fixed and they have gone on holiday not knowing that cujo (the dog) has gone majour ape and the womans car breaks down and then the dog attacks her many times rips apart a policeman and two over men and cujo looks realy menacing. this movie realy put my faith back into horror movies 9/10

i have seen every amityville apart from amityville 4 and a new generation and all of the others were excerlent (especialy amityville 3) but this one was a real disarster it is extreamly slow unbeleviably boring right up untill the last five minutes so if you want to buy or rent this out only do so and fast forward to the last five minutes

Contains spoilers!!!! a woman is drawn to a house and moves in with lots of other people (does not make sense why) this house was home to a preist killed by his long lost son (drags on and on) the spirit of the son who hanged himself from a tree out side of the house is in the basement and takes over one of the people in the house, old woman dies and man gets sliced and diced by blades and acid etc (that was the last five minutes) and they all die apart from a nuty woman and her freind who for some reason is desprate for sex

so this film is a must see no no so skip this and head for amityville 1992 its about time
