I'd swear there is a scene missing
19 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Sunday afternoons after church were a special time for me, because we'd come home and our local station would always play a Rathbone/Bruce Sherlock Holmes episode. I adored them. But as I recall, the version I watched in 1968 had one extra scene where the decoys for Tobel and Holmes in Switzerland are rescued in the nick of time and the Nazis in the opening scene are taken into custody. I cannot even find a record of that scene existing now, but I'd swear it was there. Holmes even mentions that, when Tobel asks, what will happen to his servants and Holmes replies not to worry, he's taken care of everything. But that's left in doubt now, since there is no scene as to the fate of the decoys. I'd swear if a search was done for missing film, that scene would be found. It exists out there somewhere.

Best Sci-Fi TV series of the 70s
29 March 2021
I was 14 when this show came on. I absolutely loved this show. I still get shills when I hear the theme song, just remembering how much I adored this show. It's only short coming was it was too short. The 2004 remake didn't even come close.

Mission: Impossible (1966–1973)

Ah the memories!
20 December 2020
My father's favorite show. When Mission Impossible came on, the popcorn was popped, the lights would go out, and we children were not allowed to say anything until the show was over. My Dad sat in his favorite recliner and we children sat happily on the floor. It was always an exciting show. It still holds up after all these years, even if the cold war themes seem dated by now. It's not a show that can be copied and I don't think the movies come close. Watch it for yourself and see, but don't forget to turn out the lights and pop the popcorn!

BORING!!!!
3 July 2020
After the first installment I was ready to see the 2nd Chapter in hopes, they would do it better than the miniseries did with the adults. Unfortunately, that just didn't happen. Like the miniseries the adults are just not compelling. It's easy to believe a child will be scared of a clown, not so much an adult. Stephen King understood this. That's why his novel keeps switching back and forth between timelines, so you don't get that bored feeling. Unfortunately, both the miniseries and the movie separates the stories into just 2 timelines. Chapter 1, the kids. Chapter 2, the adults. What's worse, they made the most boring half of the series almost THREE HOURS LONG. It was long, pretentious and just NOT scary at all. Stick with the book, guys (except for that one, part of the book in the drain with the kids together in the drain. Just NOT OKAY STEPHEN!)

Night Stalker (2005–2006)
No Darrin McGavin, No Night Stalker
29 April 2020
Without Darrin McGavin's wry wit, comedic timing, and almost tragic obsession with the truth, the character of Carl Kolchack is just not Kolchak. Having a younger man play him, with a "gee I'm just really too cool for this part" attitude leaves a lot wanting. You can't use the same title to just get attention to something without having some semblance to the original. This doesn't even try. It's no wonder the show didn't last long. Watch the original folks. It may seem dated now, but it's still a way better show.

Killdozer (1974 TV Movie)
10/10
It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.
26 November 2019
Ten years before the Terminator there was another mechanized terror on the loose. Only it was very slow and you could walk on crutches and still avoid it. Somehow we were all a lot slower in the 70s because that Killdozer still managed to take out a lot of people. But then we were goofier then and our standards for entertainment were much, much lower. A great movie of some guys stuck on an island when a killdozer, who has no real motivation, hits a rock and decides after that to kill anyone who hasn't figured out how to run away. Greatest movie ever made folks! Sit down with your kids to watch and let them know they were lucky to avoid this goofy decade we now know as the 70s

Watch this only for David Rappaport
5 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this film in the theaters 34 years ago. I was excited to see a film with Sting and Jennifer Beals who were big celebrities of the time. I found them completely out of their element and dull for the entire film. The only gem in this entire film is David Rappaport who carries the entire film on his diminutive shoulders. He is a delight as he befriends the monster and takes him to join the circus. He really brings out the suffering and humanity of people, society of the time would consider freaks. Forget Sting, forget Beals. Watch Rappaport! He is the real star of the film.

Freaked me out when I was a kid
12 August 2018
Saw this movie on TV in the very early 70s when I was about 10. I have to say the movie and the concept, pretty well freaked me out. Seeing it now is a great slice of nostalgia. So, it's 2069 and we still wear 60s mod fashions and use tape based computing. The only thing they got right was the sort of Apple Watch or Fitbit the Space Exec wears to monitor his heart. The wires don't show when they are weightless like in some movies. Great work with the camera angles! Great movie to watch on a slow Sunday A1. Roll up on the couch with the kids and the dogs and enjoy

Finest film I've seen in a long time
23 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This film was about the darkest hours of the war in Europe. When all seemed hopeless and men were just fighting to survive. lA film that makes it clear that surviving such times is a triumph in and of itself. To never give up and fight another day is bravery and courage beyond the call of duty.

You are really swept up with the individuals in this movie as they each play their part to survive in the face of hopeless odds.

This is a movie to watch when you feel the odds are stacked against you.

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

Watch this movie and remember the fight is always worth it,

I've never fallen asleep on a movie in a theater before
24 November 2017
Tepid, over long, and boring. It was well acted. I'll give it that. But lacked cohesion, or the spark to make it interesting. Given the vastly superior 1974 version, this was a unnecessary remake. Granted, I was warned by reviews that it wasn't good. I decided to give it a try because it was the holidays. I should have listened. I have never, and I mean ever fallen asleep on a movie in a theater before. But my daughter elbowed me, when I began to audibly snore. I was so embarrassed (after all, seeing this movie was my idea) I strongly denied I'd fallen asleep. But I'll admit the truth, it was so long, and the dialogue so droned on and on, I fell asleep on it. Have decided to buy it, for when I have cases of insomnia. May be worth the buy for only that reason.

A Powerful expose by a powerful filmmaker
24 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It's no surprise that Rotten Tomatoes has this film at 5% yet the audience score is at 83%. I just came from watching the film today. It got rousing applause when the film ended. I only saw two people leave before the film was over and they left when the Star Spangled Banner was playing. I'm not sure why they would leave during that. The film was a poignant testimonial to how the Democrat Party jailed D'Souza on trumped up charges but also the racist history of the Democrat party. The history of extortion, theft, and then moving onto the next con was also on display. The film tells the awful truth that the Democrats do not want you to know. Go in with an open mind, come out with one determined never to vote for Democrats again.

How much oil was used to make this film?
21 September 2014
We are always being preached at by leftists about our "addiction to oil."

This they do while driving cars, using air conditioners, using electricity (which BTW, is generated by oil/coal) and using products that contain plastic.

The DVD/Blu-ray you are viewing the film on is made of some form of plastic (oil).

The keyboard you are furiously typing on to tell me I'm wrong, is MADE OF PLASTIC (oil).

I'm sick of these hypocrites preaching to us how we have to stop using oil, while they go merrily on using all the oil they wish.

It's only okay for them, it's just not okay for us.

We have to give up OUR cars, OUR air conditioning, OUR plastics, on and on and on.

Meanwhile, they live in mansions, drive Cadillacs, fly Lear jets, and have no problem buying that big screen TV which has a LOT of plastic in it.

How much oil was used to make this film?

Hypocrites, every single one of them.

Jeremy is brilliant, the rest . . OUCH!
19 January 2013
People are mistaking the subtle nature film allows with Shakespeare on state. There are no closeups, or music to convey emotion, it all must come from the actors. Like silent movies, it looks like overacting to the untrained eye, but like Noh Theater, the action must be conveyed in body movements akin to dance. Jeremy Brett meets this challenge with brilliant subtly one second and booming voice sure to be heard in the bleachers. The other actors however, are awful. Lady MacBeth is the worst. The rest seem to barely remember their lines, reciting them in a monotone barely worthy of a grade school production. Watch it for Jeremy, the rest (as Hamlet would say) SHOULD be silence.

"Ahab beckons! He's dead, but he beckons!"
11 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
No one will ever match the performance Gregory Peck gave to Ahab in this movie. Patrick Stewart didn't even come close.

But that's not all. Is there anyone that can match Leo Genn as Starbuck, or Richard Basehart as Ishmael? But there are too many great performances to count. Royal Dano as Elijah always stays with me. I used to try and imitate his strong voice (despite the fact I'm a woman) Elijah! They call me, Elijah!" Orson Welles in a cameo part as Father Mapple.

This film is an undisputed Masterpiece. It does not matter if the whale doesn't look real, or the special effects aren't up to today's standards.

I would rather have poorer special effects today, rather than poorer actors. Unfortunately, we have traded spectacular special effects for actors and acting that will never come up to the standards set by films like this.

It is an age, I fear, of which, we will never see the likes again. Thank the Good Lord we can still see these films and my hopes are they are always preserved.

Most Stunning of the Dark Knight Movies
27 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
It's slow to get moving. And I could only understand half of what Bain was saying trough that mask. However, "The Dark Knight Rises" was stunning, dismaying, and enthralling, all at the same time. It's the fruition of the Occupy Wallstreet Fantasy, and the truth about where it would really lead us--into the Hell and atrocities of another French Revolution. I suspect that is what is annoying those who hate this film.

This film goes beyond the fantasy of being the Dark Knight into the toll it would take on your body and your soul. It brings the fantasy of the super hero into the stark light of reality, and reality is unforgiving.

I strongly recommend this film. It's one of the best I've seen in years. I can't wait until it comes out on Blu-ray, so I can turn on the captions and learn the other half of what Bain was mumbling. LOL!
