I love musicals, especially Moulin Rouge & Phantom of the Opera. Those romantic and tragic hearts accompanied by amazing music, get to me every time. Almost all of my favourite films have a music sequence that provides a pivotal emotional connection. I am occasionally obsessed with the actor Gerard Butler, due specifically to his role in Phantom. Very partial to Scottish and Irish actors in general and ended up marrying an Irish blue eyed devil :-). Extreme fan of Baz Luhrmann, what a talent and unbelievable genius. Enchanted with films from the 30's and 40's and love watching movies at night, with the lights low, for the perfect setting.

The Adam Project (2022)
Super enjoyable, very well done
I really enjoyed this movie. It had everything.... action, adventure, humour and my favourite - emotion. I found myself teary eyed several times due to some very poignant scenes. I hope the creators, writers and actors try to avoid listening to any negative reviews. I think most people will really enjoy watching this film and only the super cynical won't. The cynical ones aren't fun to be around anyways so don't listen to them!
I think there are several great bits of wisdom in this film.... especially to do with seeing our younger selves, our relationships with our parents and dealing with loss. Kudos to the team that wrote this and to the actors for touching my heart with their very moving scenes, each of their performances were great Thank you!
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
A true MUST WATCH...it will give you laughter, depth and ignite your soul
I loved this series so much and want to vociferously declare my thoughts and panegyrize (tee hee Moira speak) the creators.. I am a joke snob and I laughed OUT LOUD frequently throughout the 6 seasons. I am Canadian and already adored Eugene Levy and Catherine Ohara from their SCTV days, 2 of my favourite actors for sure (Bobby Bittman & Lola Heatherton, OMG and the soap the Days of the Week). I was lazy and didn't actually have cable so I waited until the series was completely finished and on Netflix to watch it in its entirety. WOW so incredible. I am so thankful to the creators (extra shout out to Dan Levy) and writers and to all of the amazing actors (which are one in the same for some roles) on this show. I truly honestly LOVE the characters and am completely grateful to have experienced such incredible performances. This show is absolutely brilliant, heartfelt, poignant and lovely. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for giving us this wonderful, stupendous show. I am SUPER proud and honoured to be Canadian, and therefore loosely affiliated via nationalist kinship with most of the people in the program (haha). Bravo!!
Listen to Me (1989)
some thought provoking moments make for a good film
I saw this movie when I was 19 years old and it always stuck with me. I remember then renting it on video (Yay VHS) and still liking it very much. So, now at nearly 46 years old I decided to watch it again to see if I still felt the same emotional impact that it first gave me all those years ago. YES, I still really like this movie. I still feel the heart of it and still appreciate most of the film for its emotional elements. I am pro-choice and will always vote pro- choice, but hope that most women never have to make such a difficult decision. I will always hope that women & men try their best with birth control so that they don't have to be subjected to such a painful life decision. For me as a supporter of pro-choice, to like this movie that was definitely more pro-life, means that it was well done, in my opinion. As far as the debating team not being realistic with regard to how it really is, I can't know that as a lay person, so it didn't affect my opinion of the film. I could see why it would annoy true debaters though. Anyway, I think that this film is well worth watching even with its flaws.
P.S. I Love You (2007)
Absolutely wonderful movie, makes my top 10 list
This movie makes my top 10 list of favourite movies of all time. I am 43 years old, so that means I have watched a decent amount of films over the years. I always have this as a go to movie if I want to feel love, emotion, sadness and joy. I find it to be very emotionally moving. The music is top notch and placed perfectly throughout. I am continually impressed upon subsequent viewings. Originally it received poor ratings, which really irked me, but I notice it is currently sitting at a 7/10, which although not as high as I would like, at least is an improvement. I have watched this movie at least 20 times and I truly love it and very much recommend it. I gave it a 9/10 only because there were just a few lines (maybe 3 in total) in the entire film that I would have written differently. I hope the actors in this picture are proud of their work, I know that I greatly admire the writer, director, actors, crew, and especially the person who picked the score......... Thank you so much for giving this to us, it will be something that I never forget and I have deep admiration for all who were involved in the making of movie!
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011)
I loved it, give me a break the rest of you naysayers
The rating of 4.9. is ridiculously low and most definitely unfounded. Give me a break people! (yes I was born in the 70's). I LOVED the music, I LOVED the emotion, I LOVED the nostalgia. I was very much affected by this movie. I think it was very well done, from a regular person's point of view (who else really counts as far as the box office is concerned). The wedding made me cry (because of the music), the honeymoon locale and ambiance was unforgettable (I would do anything for a moonlit night on an exotic beach with the man of my dreams), the rest of the story and particularity the music was moving and I felt, well acted and convincing. The low IMDb ratings for the Twilight movies, despite the exorbitant profits is a little annoying. I LOVE watching them as do obviously a gazillion other people! Be sure to view this with the lights low, a glass of wine (if you are of age) and an open heart and you will be transported into the feelings of love and life and the emotion of it will be an absolutely unforgettable experience. Heartless cynics, get lost and find another place to reside, you don't belong here.
Twilight (2008)
Excellent movie, not given enough credit
The first time I saw this movie I was brand new to everything Twilight. I had not read the books and really didn't know much about them or the movie. I remember leaving the theatre intrigued, entertained and wanting more, but felt like they could have stepped it up a bit especially in relation to the special effects. Since that first screening, I have now read the books and seen the movie at least 5 more times. I, like so many others, devoured the books and have definitely grown to love the movie as well. You can't watch a movie repeatedly if it is crap. I absolutely adore the music and the story and although it can't completely capture the tension and yearning of such a moving love story that the books are easily able to convey, I think that it does do a great justice to it. I feel that the director and actors did a wonderful job and I believe in each of them. This picture is lovely and moved me as well as making me laugh and enjoy myself, and as I said previously, it is a continuing pleasure to watch.
