Deadheads (2011)
surprising flick
I just happen to see this movie while going through random titles. I am glad i found it.
It's a low budget film without the horrible plastic look and feel that most of them have. I was quiet surprised of the quality of acting from a lot of no name people.
Taken from the view of zombies, it creates an original plot and sub plot.
It reminds me of dale and "tucker vs evil", or a low budget "zombieland".
I wish there were a lot more low budget movies like this one.
La vampire nue (1970)
Must see sexplotation movie
I started watching this movie by accident. I found that even with a sub par plot, minimal acting, and terrible effects this movie was a sexplotation delight. It was like a weird Bjork video but with better looking women. It was extremely subtly sexy and the framing and cinematography was superb. Considering the director had a cruddy plot, he worked wonders. The opening scene was odd, yet very well done.
If you like watching sexy Euro women walking around scantly clad, and getting undressed for no apparent reason, creep yet sexy twins, and a very modest attempt at making something different, you will like this addition to the cheap horror movie genre.
Deep Impact (1998)
cheesy and flawed
Even though i gave this movie 3 stars, it was in many parts entertaining. The real flaw of this movie was its taking too many nonfactual jumps in its plot and science. You leave the movie thinking "aww come on how is that possible".
The plot was straight forward enough, a comet was going to hit the earth. The top earth scientists decide to do something. However, in researching this movie the could have at least consulted a few scientists to see if what they were purposing could even be plausible.
One of the worst scenes in the movie was at the end where somehow a kid makes it back to richmond va, gets a motorcycle drives to virgina beach (why the parents were heading to virgina beach then away from virgina beach i have no idea), finds his gf and then somehow in a few minutes time, ends up on a mountain top. Give me a break.
Alien Raiders (2008)
surprising sci fi flick
Alien Raiders surprised me from the moment i turned it on. Clever plot twists, good story line and excellent acting.
The story begins with a big mystery with a group of people with weapons looking for something they never explain what. The employees in the store add to the drama of the scene, each with their own well developed character.
The story builds momentum and it keeps you wishing for more and more information.
The ending explains just enough to be interesting but not giving too much away. I'd love to see a sequel to this flick.
Eragon (2006)
laughable
I saw this movie in the theaters without knowing much about it or reading the books. Being a closet nerd and old D and D fan, it seemed like a good movie. The movie starts out from the first moment as an assault on the senses, but in a bad way. After about 30 minutes, we began to make fun of the movie, and as we grew louder, the rest of the packed theater joined in until it was like a massive mystery science theater 3000 episode. People were making phone calls, milling about. I've never ever seen more people disinterested any movie this way. The popcorn was good at least, and we really enjoyed making fun of this movie. It is hands down the worst movie i've ever seen in a theater, and i sat through the awful movie "meet joe black" a few years back.
S. Darko (2009)
not good...at all
this movie was completely boringly sad and confusing. It contained scenes that were disjointed, and had no meaning. the only reason i gave it a 1 instead of a 2 was its only redeeming value was watching Daveigh Chase pout.
I was excited about this movie because D darko was one of my favorite movies. However this is a lousy sequel. They tried to make this just like the original, arty and deep but instead it came up extremely short and shallow. It took all my will not to turn it off.
As i said before, it was fun to see all the ways Daveigh Chase could look pouty, pretty and hipster like but that got old quick.
Bent (1997)
barely watchable
I love historical dramas. This subject matter is very rarely talked about. Jews, poles, gypsies and other undesirables were all brutally exterminated. Homosexuals are very rarely talked about. So this subject matter seemed very interesting. From the start the movie seemed like it was going to be a musical, and i almost turned it off. Then it seemed to try to be a rip off of "party Monsters" but set in pre ww II Germany. The action seemed to get better and the story line started to develop. However the acting and the plot just falls apart, into something predictable and bland. The whole movie seems like someone who wrote a high school play was suddenly given a big movie budget but decided to keep it in a play format.
Chastity (1969)
Boring
This movie seemed to have all the potential of a classic grind house movie type classic. Rebellious run away, crazy Mexican whore houses, drugs, sex, and hitch hiking all thrown together in a big heap. Unfortunately, it turned into a big heap of something else. Instead of joan jett "im angry at the world" type of angst, Cher seemed just randomly crazy and mean, with a bored look on her face. This actually could have been a female version of midnight cowboy, but instead was just another waste of film reel.
I was excited to see this because i think early Cher was very pretty and represented that whole early 70's look. She even ruined that.
