Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981)
Such A Fun Experience With A Lot To Be Thanked For!
Like I said in my 'Friday the 13th' review, it's often stated that the Original is always the best and that is true a lot of the time but sometimes you get the rare exception to which the Original's Sequel is actually better.
'Friday the 13th: Part 2' is to me the real first Friday movie, and I say this because the first film feels just so out of touch with the rest. But not with Part 2, no in this film it carries so much more entertainment value with more kills, far better characters and a bigger budget (it shows).
I will say though, at times the kills may feel a little too offscreen but that's mostly due to the lack of Tom Savini in the SF Apartment.
Overall though, 'Friday the 13th: Part 2' is a sequel worthy of praise and a really fun time and is more on pare with its later Sequels. I do recommend checking this out for a watch but I wouldn't go far as to say it's a Classic; more rather a fun time.
So in that my rating, a 75%.
Friday the 13th (1980)
If This Was A Stand Alone Film... I don't Think It Would Be Loved So Much.
'The Original is always the best' says many avid Film (especially Horror) Fans and in some ways that's very true but unfortunately The Original 'Friday the 13th' is not really all that special. Yes it did inspire the 1981 Slasher Boom (Part 2, The Burning, My Bloody Valentine ect...) but on its own I think it's pretty dull. I don't think that it really has many things that I would hold in high regard, but I will say the Score by Harry Manfredini and the Kills by Tom Savini do help. But the acting, the pacing and even the Killer reveal are all unsatisfyingly to me, and I think it really pulls the rest of the film down.
So in conclusion, I would recommend 'Friday the 13th' to any hardcore Slasher fans or those who want to see where the franchise started but if you want to have a fun and thrilling night then I would suggest perhaps watching one of its sequels instead.
And so my rating, 63%
Brandon's Cult Movie Reviews (2011)
This Show Will Never Not Be Funny!
This show is (to me) up there with 'The Simpsons' and 'Community'; it's entertaining and never feels stale or like it's running out of ideas. It's something I can watch for hours on end without getting bored. Honestly Brandon Tenold is a master at his craft and yet doesn't come off as a douchebag that's way over in his head, instead a loving fan that you will come to relate with immensely if you are too a fan of Cult Classic Cinema. I became aware of this Channel through my love of Godzilla, like many others, but now am entrenched with other amazing genres. If you're looking for a show to watch that resonates with your love of obscure cinema then please check out 'Brandon's Cult Movie Reviews' as you will fall in love with fiffing movies as well as learning to obtain the gift for yourself.
And for that, a 10/10 from me.
