Spaceman (I) (2024)

Opera, space & hazelnut

We are all like a blink of an eye, very transient, yet our emotions are rare. This movie is a psychological thriller in which a man fights with his own guilt and how he overcomes it. However, the audience may have a hard time resonating with the title of the movie, "SPACEMAN". This movie fails to create the tension of a space travel movie and is heavy on dialogue. It may not cater to the whole mass, but it is a movie for those who have a hard time letting go of their thoughts, fears, or not addressing their emotions. Anyway, I am happy that I watched this movie and hope to rewatch it soon. Hazelnut.

Monster (2022– )
8/10
Gross, scary. Top notch acting,
2 April 2024
I have to say that "Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" seems like a very interesting Netflix miniseries. It tries to shift the focus from the notorious serial killer himself to the victims, which is a refreshing perspective. I've heard that Evan Peters delivers a haunting performance as Dahmer, and the supporting cast is also quite talented. The series blends elements of crime drama and psychological thriller, and the directorial style is characterized by long, tense scenes. Critics have praised the series for its performances and its commitment to highlighting the victims' stories, but some have also noted that it can feel repetitive and may not offer new insights to those already familiar with the case. Overall, I'm intrigued by the series and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys true-crime stories. But I was scared to watch it.

Sicario (2015)
8/10
Intense, Brutal, Sicario
1 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Released in 2015, "Sicario" is an intense thriller that takes you on a journey through the murky world of the US-Mexico drug war. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve and photographed by the acclaimed Roger Deakins, and is visually stunning, capturing the stark landscapes and tense atmospheres of its settings.

Emily Blunt's powerful performance as Kate Macer, an FBI agent enlisted into a government task force aimed at combating the war on drugs, sets the tone for the rest of the narrative. The film opens with a heart-stopping sequence that showcases Villeneuve's skill at crafting suspenseful and dramatic scenes.

As the story unfolds, Kate's moral compass is tested as she navigates the complex and dangerous world she has been thrust into. Benicio Del Toro's portrayal of Alejandro, a consultant with a mysterious past, adds a haunting layer of unpredictability to the mix. Josh Brolin's character, Matt Graver, also adds to the tension with his cavalier attitude towards the mission and its ethical implications.

"Sicario" is a film that does not shy away from the brutal realities of its subject matter. It presents a world where the line between good and evil is blurred, and where the cost of justice is often high. The tight and well-constructed screenplay, written by Taylor Sheridan, leads the audience through a series of intense and thought-provoking events that culminate in a climax that is both satisfying and unsettling.

The film's score, composed by Jóhann Jóhannsson, further enhances the tension and drama, underpinning the action with a haunting soundtrack that resonates long after the credits roll. "Sicario" is a standout film that combines excellent performances, masterful direction, and a compelling narrative to create a cinematic experience that is both thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining. It is a film that stays with you, prompting reflection on the complexities of the war on drugs and the human cost it entails. If you're looking for a movie that is intellectually stimulating and emotionally engaging, "Sicario" is a must-watch.

Kate (I) (2021)

I need my Boom Boom Lemon
6 November 2023
Kate is a 2021 action thriller film directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead as an assassin who has been poisoned by Polonium-204. The protagonist has approximately 24 hours to take revenge. In short, the plot is cliché and predictable, but the slick action scenes and impressive choreography make this movie live up to its genre.

The film is set in Tokyo and boasts a stylish and kinetic visual style. However, the chemistry between Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character, Kate, and Miku Martineau's character, Ani, could have been better. This would have given more depth to the characters in the film. At a certain point, Ani becomes more vital, and more depth is needed, which the director missed.

Overall, the movie was cool and worth watching once. However, it could have been much better if the characters were given more depth and the chemistry between the two leads was stronger.

Carry your home with you.
4 November 2023
The movie is very masterfully crafted the characters & portrayed the scenic beauty of the nomadland. Must watch for those who carry their home with them. The stories of real-life nomads who have been displaced by the economic recession & following the collapse of American Dream. The film also raises important questions about the meaning of home, the value of work, and the role of society in supporting or marginalizing its members. Nomadland is a must-watch for those who carry their home with them, or for those who want to experience a different way of living. Love this movie may be I'll watch it another time or few more.
