Naechureol siti (2003)
Not too bad at all....
..... in fact, a lot better than expected. I watched both trailers before the movie to see if it looked any good, and it did. It looked stunning, just a bit empty. On watching it, i found it to be very accomplished, it put most Hollywood films to shame. In saying that, though, there really aren't any US equivalents to this. Yeah, it borrows from plenty of other movies, but none of them would be so daring or have such a sombre tone. This is quite bleak and nasty stuff. Highly recommended, just don't expect a happy ending or any humour. If great, Blade Runner-style visuals are your thing, you'll find plenty to enjoy. Four out of five.

How can anyone call themselves a fan and not like this? - Spoilers
Looking at some of the comments here, i don't understand it... were you people watching the same film? Of course, some of it is quite amusing, the opening "I'm a Believer" version, for example if terrible, but i don't think this is a particularly laughable film at all. To be honest, i think it's Woo's very best film, even better than The Killer and Hard Boiled, very serious, quite an emotional film in parts, and stands the comparison to Deer Hunter well. Also, the ending, which some think is over the top, is pure John Woo. I agree that they could have left it a bit more ambiguous by leaving it when the skull is presented in the boardroom, but i liked seeing their double-crossing friend pay for what he did. Great film.
Dog Soldiers (2002)
Like Predator For Lycanthropes
I saw the trailer for this at Blade 2 a few weeks ago, and thought it looked hilariously bad. Really, it looked awful, laughable effects, bad comedy ripped off from other films, the whole gamut of rubbish. But, I read a lot of good reviews for it, actually, I have never seen a bad review. If you ever come across such a thing, ignore it. This is a great film, very entertaining all the way through, with extravagant amounts of blood and guts and thousands of bullets fired. I won't give anything away, except that, as I said, it is Predator with Werewolves. Actually, a touch of Night of the Living Dead and Assault on Precinct 13 have been thrown in the mix too, so, as you can imagine, it is quite a tense little film. I never thought I would believe Kevin McKidd as an action hero, but he is great here. I laughed when I read someone's comments that McKidd was a credible action hero, but I was wrong, I admit it. I have to rate this a 5 star movie instead of the 1 star I expected, brilliant, great laugh, good effects for the tiny budget, and the fact that I enjoyed it more than Attack of the Clones, which I saw a few minutes before this one, speaks volumes. AOITC is great, but this one cost 50 times less and is FAR more entertaining.
