you can SIT through this and that's about it. it's nooooo waterboy or wedding singer. it's plot is boring and predictable, the acting kind of bland, and winona ryder doesn't have any charm of drew barrymore or fairuza balk (wedd sing & waterboy) and is just plain annoying in her eyes bulging/sneering way. adam sandler plays it so low key and boring that he's just not funny. the extras are wasted as actors and winona ryder like i said is miscast and out of her league..she just isn't funny. perhaps reese witherspoon or renee zelwegger could have made something out of the plot but as time passes, winona ryder, an actress i used to love, just seems less and less able as an actress with less and less range. she actually made a good character totally annoying with no redeeming qualities except she's cute or something.

overall, a renter or go see it at the $1.50 movie, but don't pay $8!!! you'll regret it.

i think ethan hawke is a thinker and dreamer but simply does not have the foundation to carry any of it off. he doesn't have the know how, background or education his heroes have. there is NO storyline which might seem kind of cool except it's impossible to follow. it's like your subconcious on screen but who can follow THAT? the actors seriously look lost throughout their parts with bad dialogue and nothing to do. it's sort of like so-so musicians having a jam session with some memorable moments but no decipherable song or tune ever being played, just some off rifts. after awhile, it's annoying and not worth it. half the audience walked out of my showing so don't pay to see it. if he actually gets some education in storytelling and directing, there might be hope for him, but winging it is not going to work for him. he's not a genius and cannot pull it off like some others.
