Well done, Christopher Nolan! A very successful attempt to recreate the story of Bruce Wayne (Batman) in a realistic, dark way, totally different, however, from Tim Burton, whose films I also like very much.
In this case - Nolan behind the camera is perfect. He creates suspense very well, the action scenes are well shot, and Christian Bale in the lead role is the perfect choice. The way he turns into the Black Knight is super, super interesting and a joy to the eye. Liam Neeson is very well cast as his teacher, whose character has very questionable moral principles. Young Killian Murphy also gets kudos for his work here. Katie Holmes and Gary Oldman are very cool, and Michael Caine is probably the best thing in the whole film.
The ending is brutally cool and sets everything up perfectly for the next film in Nolan's trilogy, The Dark Knight (2008), which in turn is already for me one of the greatest films ever made thanks of course to the late Heath Ledger.
What I didn't like - maybe the pacing at times; it was kind of boring as the villain in the film isn't particularly interesting and the last 30 minutes weren't anything impressive except for the last scene.
Final score: 7/10.
