Dat Rung Phuong Nam (2023)
Song of the South
Song of the South was acted with average good level (for me). Anyways, a Bravo for An. There are many funny, plein and somehow rude talks, which are true for countryside residents in old times
Especially, the film color was really true and either do costumes. Scenes of Western markets emphasized the poverty back in the day clearly
The beauty of Western Vietnam and the childhood of kids growing up there were described naturally. There were also various profound lines about family and patriotism
However, its flow is not coherent enough. Therefore, I feel like I was only impressed just by some lines or stunning sets. Moreover, the adventurous life of An was somehow limitedly expressed.
Atonement (2007)
Atonement
This was truly a masterpiece of cinematography with wonderful performances, lavish sets and moreover, haunting themes.
Atonement was successfully directed and acted. All actors and actress were amazingly beautiful. The costumes they wore were amazing too. The concept was really great, sets of nature were stunning.
However, it is easily seen that Atonement focused more on images rather than its plot. I know it was adapted from a book but its meaning is not specific enough. Even the love between Cece and Robbie or the jealousy of Briony were not described deeply and limited.
Antony wanted to cover many things (love, reality of WW2, jealousy, sexual assault...) so it was nor profound enough in each aspect.
Summer Strike (2022)
Warming our hearts
Summer Strike is really my go-to drama in summer or spring from now on. It is extremely heart-warming.
There is no need for romance. Mainly friendship, neighborhood, and love of nature. (moreover the dog Gyol-ul was really cute )
Yeo-reum's life was peaceful and plein in Angok, which is sometimes boring but somehow ideal (for me). I appreciate everytime characters enjoy and feel light breeze, sunlight, sunrise or smell of the sea... It is omg so healing
There are not many dramatic parts in the plot. So go enjoy!!!
Especially, I am happy that in this drama, no one is really seemed as cold-hearted. There're still some not-nice people, but this drama did not go deeply into them
Love it, wish I could found many pieces like Summer Strike!!!
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
Multi-aspects in a series
I love the way we can deeply understand every character's problems and personality.
Especially about the friendship between three women. It is the most valuable thing of this series, which makes people jealous. Like sometimes you do not need anything in the world except your closest friends who can stay beside you every time you need, who can figure out how you feel by just looking at your face and never disappear in every happiest and worst moments in your life.
Sweet Magnolias is also about family. It emphasizes every difficulty raising your kids, entering their grown-up world and pulling them out of their despairs. It also features how hard to maintain the flame of love and to stay truly yourself in a marriage or even a love relationship.
Sweet Magnolias is also about neighborhood like how you and your family can challenge other to be a good person.
Three women here are the most beautiful and strongest people ever. They love, they dedicate, they fear, they cry, they collapse and they change, they smile and they appreciate every little happy thing. Especially, they never pull anyone down, they always treat others with the kindest hearts! Like Sweet Magnolias :)))
Eat Pray Love (2010)
No need romance
The movie includes beautiful cinematography, good music and great actors.
Julia Robert's role in this movie inspired me a lot. No matter of what genders we are, we should spend time alone, travel alone, read alone, eat alone and make friends ourselves. No need to depend on others. We create our life journey ourselves.
She inspired that we should always renew ourselves. Learn a new language, go to a new place, see new people, why not?
More than that, she still maintain and nurture her feminist beauties. Respect her feelings, allow herself to cry and laugh, fight for her utopian, enjoy every minimal thing, and then help others.
Into the Wild (2007)
Victory
Alex reminded many people of how they grew up. Alex healed many's pain from their childhood. The pic of real Alex at the end of the movie literally made me cry. His smile represents the happiness, freedom and forgiveness.
The movie has a lot of beautiful and deep scenes also regarding the cinematography. Various meaningful quotation and the thinking flow of every character (especially Carine and Alex) appeared, making the audience reflect.
Into The Wild gives a lot of Call-to Action somehow (for me). After that, we can wonder:
- Do we live at our best?
- What are we trying for? Does it really make us feel happy?
- Do we love our beloved in the right way?
- After all, what do we live for? Freedom, family, peace or God?
Into The Wild is incredibly meaningful, it is a masterpiece, a must-watch movie for me.
Majo no takkyûbin (1989)
Take us back to our memories
The movie is totally beautiful and meaningful when Kiki nearly reflects how we used to be when we first moved out independently
First time to be in a new land, find how to live or sustain, figure out how to get along with the community. It is never easy but unregrettable.
Kiki represents for the young whose mission is to fly away and find their own place. They started with being petit boys and girls surrounded by their own families then continued their growth by leaving their home.
Kiki's delivery service is the journey to grow up. It includes tears, disappointment, uncertainty, boredom and pride, surprises, gratefulness.
The movie is a stunningly animated work of cinematic art. The music is epic, which can touch your feelings.
In a nutshell. Kiki's delivery is very worth us enjoying.
Liteul poleseuteu (2018)
The most healing witch
I watched this piece when I needed the most. When you feel lost, empty, or disappointed, just direct your mind to the "Mother nature". She always embraces you, stimulates you with the purest but strongest power to forgive and love yourself one more time.
"Little Forest" reminds me of what happiness truly be. It just stems from the simplest things. Little forest is love, family, friendship, food, veggies. It is also the sound, the breath and the eyesight, or the eyeclose.
One step back to know that you need to listen to your inner flow of soul more. Two steps back to know that you should burst out crying or laughing. Three steps back to know that you can have an infinite love to yourself.
I am living in Paris - a big and hustle city where I feel overwhelmed many times. Thanks "Little forest" for taking me to a peaceful countryside and teaching me about the nature.
The Night Agent (2023)
Best Netflix action series in 2023
From my own perspectives, TNA is very worth us watching.
Throughout the story, I had to drain my brain to guess who (the character) we could trust. It is dramatic but logic. Every person all had stories to hide, along with their conspiracy. Everyone had motives to carry out bad moves.
Moreover, no one was too evil, all have moral sides.
The main characters were all intelligent, experienced and their instincts were very sensible.
Moreover, the jobs, organizations, and powerful politicians were evil but cool. To be honest, I was immersed into the dark politics world. I imagined myself as the main character and wondered what the next action I should have anticipate.
The factor of action satisfied me enough. The cinematography is so good for me, nothing to complain.
The most special thing is the plot related to different parties, making us not able to anticipate anything!
Thats my experience. I like action series as they can clarify situation and personalities better than movies do. On Netflix, now it is hard for me to find a series like TNA which includes many features: action, romance, politics, spying and also family.
