Dubbed & Dangerous (2001)
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenius!
This short movie is classic, it's got some great action sequences, and really dodgy dubbed dialogue. what more could you want from a short movie titled "Dubbed and Dangerous"? I managed to catch this when it was Sky TV's Short Movie season and thought it was brilliant, i acquired a copy and showed it to all of my mates, and we are all in agreement. This is hilarious, and i have got to tip my hat to the starring man, he did some fights that were a sheer joy to watch.
Initially i was sceptical about this, but within moments the spoof element reared its head with some typically slap stick stuff. If you can get a copy of this short, I'm almost certain you won't be disappointed.
The Last Broadcast (1998)
i missed the start...
when i turned Channel 4 on at 1:30 in the morning, i thought i was watching a documentary, until the final 20 odd minutes of the film i had sussed out that it was a film, up to that point i was getting freaked out. i had never heard anything about this film, and had no expectations....then again i did only watch it because i was suffering from Insomnia. its a good watch, but the ending is a let down, just plain silly and ruins the whole atmosphere of the movie!!
Lat sau san taam (1992)
possible the best action flick ever?
Im not too sure about the best action flick, but it is one of the best. Chow Yun Fat plays the part of the psycho cop perfectly and adds his own coolness to the part, perhaps why John Woo chose him. i have to say, this contains one of my all time favourite shoot outs, the one when Chow jumps through the roof and goes crazy with his shotgun.
This film is a must see for all action fans, and if you are a John Woo fan or a Chow Yun Fat fan and you haven't seen this film yet...what's your excuse?? go and rent it...no scrap that, go and BUY IT now!!!
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002)
THE FUNNIEST FILM EVER...
...if you actually have seen any REAL martial arts films! the people who claim this film is rubbish are those sad people who call The Matrix a martial arts film, or think that Romeo Must Die is Jet Li's best film...obviously because they have no real brains. or maybe the people tho claim Rush Hour 2 is the best jackie chan film ever....! you people need a good slap!
this film is only truly funny to the audience it was aimed at, and that is the people who watch or have watched classic kung fu/martial arts films of old! the pre-Bruce Lee days when there was usually a chosen one somewhere in the plot. this film really did crack me up. i have never laughed so much in my life!! me and my brother were almost wetting ourselves laughing!!!
ok but to be fair, i can see how people didn't find it funny, but thats only because you have no idea what it is mocking! and comparing it to Scary Movie?? what on earth are you on about? Scary Movie was rubbish, all the jokes were predictable AND not funny, at least in this the jokes are predictable but also funny! and its so funny because its just so stupid!!! its classic!!!!
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
WASTE OF A FRIDAY NIGHT!
Ok, let me start my saying that this is possibly the WORST star wars film made, and thats hard to say seeing as how poor the last one was! i did not expect to see a 2 and a half hour romantic crap film with a little bit of action! anakin skywalker had the gayest look, and just whined all the way through the film!!! and for crying out loud....WHY IS JAR JAR STILL THERE!!! PLEASE SOMEONE KILL HIM QUICK!!!! and Padme kept annoying me by constantly calling anakin "Anny" in the most annoyingly annoying fashion!! even Obi Wan had some of the worst cheesy lines i have ever witnessed in a film, they weren't even amusing! they were just badly timed and badly scripted!!!
however....worth it to see Yoda kick some ass with a lightsaber!! you know thats the ONLY reason most people wanna watch it!
Spider-Man (2002)
The Trailer was better than the film!
Just like pretty much any other movie that has received hype for so long...this falls flat on its face. the acting was ok...the lines went BEYOND the level of cheesiness we have come to expect from these kinds of films and for god's sakes...the special effects were rubbish!! the game for the PS2 looks better than the film!! i was so annoyed when i came out of the cinema, it was a waste of my cash, my money could have been better spent by renting X-Men!! im a great fan of the comics and the cartoons, but im starting to think that these comic book heroes should remain pretty much just that. as for The Hulk...im not holding my breath...for me, the best part of the Spiderman Cinematic Experience were the trailers for upcoming movies!!
Highlander: Endgame (2000)
Honour is not in the weapon, It is in the Man
it was a pretty dull movie with really poor action sequences, but those scenes involving the one and only Donnie Yen made it worth while to watch. i never did watch the series so i was totally lost with all this "watcher" and "sanctuary" crap.
