Beautiful story/ Amazing Cinematography
4 August 2009
I'm not usually a fan of film adaptations. Generally I prefer the real thing, but I must say, I absolutely LOVED this film! From the Romeo and Juliet story to the incredibly original filming of a stage performance, this movie is outstanding from start to finish. The cinematography was exceptional, and I can only imagine what a task it was to truly capture the feeling of actually being in the audience...but they succeeded ten fold. I also loved how the creators were able to place fictional characters (Romeo and Juliet, aka Robi and Juli) into a true historical period (The Hungarian Revolution) and simultaneously make you feel the tragedy of both right to your core. Hats off to all involved with this film and musical!

A visual and emotional masterpiece
24 November 2007
It's not everyday that Hungary produces gay films, so when they do, you most certainly pay attention. Despite the name, Men in the Nude is not just about gay men; it's about the places we find ourselves in life and how we never know how we'll deal with them until we're put there. It's about thinking you know yourself, when really you don't know yourself at all. The story itself is the true gem of this movie, however, with mesmerizing visuals and unapologetic love scenes, Men in the Nude is a triumph for Hungarian Cinema. A roller-coaster ride of emotions and twisting plots, this movie will have your head spinning until the very end. Excellent acting, amazing direction and fantastic writing. Well done Hungary!
