Evil Rising (2002)
This Film doesn't exist!!!
13 April 2009
Reffering to an information I got from the writer of the script, Thomas Reitmairr, I sadly have to herald that this film was never produced. Production was planned to be set in Iran but unfortunately the project was finally stopped in early 2003. Due to this fact the rating here really makes me wonder... what did these people rate???

So don't try to find it... you definitely won't succeed.

And now IMDb wants me to fill at least 10 lines... well folks, go ahead and have fun with Ittenbach's other great masterpieces of horror. Who dares call this a horror movie???
31 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this is far from horror. For about an hour it is nothing more than a drama... and even as this not really a good one. This was one of the weakest pieces of crap i have ever watched. It was lame, boring and the acting was just awful. It takes about 55 minutes of slow paced intrigue (and made me yawn a couple of times) until that so-called horror starts. A little girl is killed by one of the villains and her blood spattered body is found on the big wheel of the circus the next morning... huh! A few minutes later one of the villains is killed with a big hammer and another one gets stabbed with a knife... that's all. And did i mention the really annoying music? This was horrible and really got on my nerves. Brave as i am i sat through and don't know why by now. This was one pretty bad experience. Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED for anyone! Banned in 42 countries? Haha... what a joke... they must be kidding!!! You can only be disappointed with this one and waste time of your life you'll never get back. Done.

All you can expect from horror... and much more!!!
24 March 2008
Wow... seems like somebody dropped some cameras over Greece... and they immediately knew how to use them!!! This little gem has everything you would expect from a horror movie and offers much more yet. Of course you have seen most of it somewhere else... the stuff's not really new, isn't it? And yes, in some parts it seemed to me like a Greek version of "28 days later". But I've rarely seen Zombie's heads being destroyed in so many different ways. Headshots, lots of (almost obligatory) decapitations, head splitting and much more. Yes, this is definitely for the real gore-hounds among you! Acting, sets, make-up, etc. were OK but the camera work and editing were really cool in some parts... especially in the ending scene. If you're in the mood for about one and a half hours of good old bloody fun try to grab this. Highly recommended (for fans of the genre). To the producers: more of this, please!!!

Just another flat-liner from RatPack Productions
23 March 2008
Well... Germans trying to spoof American horror movies? Yes, you're absolutely right - this can only go wrong! Even two of the most successful German comedians, Axel Stein and Christian Tramitz, can't save this piece of ... (here you may enter any deprecating term you like) from failing badly. And these two guys REALLY have potential... but it seems wasted here. Poor acting, poor dialogs, poor make-up and so on... Try to imagine Jigsaw, Jason, a bunch of Zombies and a kid with a pumpkin-head all together in one flick trying to be funny... once again you're absolutely right - this is a disaster and not funny at all! What are these guys at RatPack arrogating? Even Hollywood itself failed in various attempts of such productions. Avoid this and take any of the "Scary Movie"-series instead.

One of the greatest German comedies of the 80's!!!
11 September 2007
Although not produced on a high budget this is definitely one of the movies of the 80's i remember best...- and i've seen a lot since then. The story is simple, most of the cast amateurish...- it's Detlev Quandt's performance nobody should miss. He was (and still sometimes for me is) the prototype of "cool". Far ahead of time and style he carries the entire movie. Hard to describe... or possibly just charismatic. Especially if you're living in this region of Germany we call the "Ruhrgebiet" (as i do) you might like this 90-minute-piece-of-sheer-coolness because it's set here. I still love it after 26 years now and (no joke) watch it regularly, at least every 2-3 years. They're not made like this anymore....

Ichi's first strike - WHAT A BLAST!!!
20 October 2003
Wow, if you're a fan of Miike's work and liked the "original" Ichi, you will probably love this prequel! It's almost hard to believe that it wasn't Miike himself on the director's chair. But as the assistant director in the production of Miike's masterpiece, Masato Tanno for sure knew what he was doing as the director in this prequel. He shows Shiroichi during his time at Highschool, where two other boys lay claim to the status of the best fighter of all Highschools in town. So, almost the whole film is about fighting. And these guys really know how to punch! Tanno's film isn't as strange and dark as its "forerunner", but it doesn't have to hide behind it. You can call it in a row with such great masterpieces as "Ichi" or "Story of Ricky". It's different but brutal and violent as hell. Acting was good, so was the camera work. But director Masato Tanno definitely did the best job of them all. If you have the possibility, you should rent it. If you're a fan of Miike's films, buy it - you won't regret! It'll blow you away!!!

Decent japanese Ghost-Story
11 September 2003
This is the story of Tomie, a young japanese woman, who gets stabbed to death by her boy-friend in the beginning of the film. Don't ask why, because the two really seem to be in love. While he's painting a picture of her, she slightly whispers that she loves him. And suddenly he seems to lose control. When two of his friends appear, they find him holding her dead body in his arms. The three decide to keep this homicide as a secret and bury her somewhere in the woods. But a few days later she's back and looking for revenge. Strange things begin to happen.

Not the right choice if you're looking for a gory splatterflick. Almost no blood at all. But if you're a friend of films like "The Ring", "Uzumaki" or "Parasite Eve" this one could be the right choice. Can be compared with the first two but is not as brilliant as "Parasite Eve", although the end looked pretty similar.

So while the gorehounds among you might call this boring, i would say it was slow but entertaining and rate it 6/10.

Schramm (1993)

Intense Pictures!
14 August 2003
Well, this one's pretty hard to describe. Some people might say, this is one of those movies you either love or hate. Some might ask, if it's art or trash. First of all it's a movie about a serial killer. But in my opinion it can't be compared with other serial killer movies, because it's too different. And it's supposed to be. If you like to watch a story like the ones about Ted Bundy or Jeff Dahmer you better let this one pass by. In the mood for some funny, gory horror-stuff to watch with your friends having some beer and some laughs? Wrong choice! "Schramm" is weird, disturbing, almost bizarr. Or do you think, every man should for once in his life pin down his penis on a table using 2-inch-nails? Schramm does. If you like stuff like David Lynch's "Eraserhead" or the Japanese "Tetsuo" you might probably love "Schramm". And even if it serves some gore it might be stuff to think about for some among you. Try to get its message...- it's worth a watch!

Not one of the typical "TROMA's" !!!
29 September 2002
First of all I was surprised to see that this film is not one of those typical TROMA-releases. It's an italian production and (sad but true) not one of those splatter-comedies like "Class of Nuk'em High", "The Toxic Avenger" or all the other funny flicks that made TROMA so popular. While watching this film, you won't even have a single chance for a smile. It's completely different from the flicks mentioned above. The story is one of the worst ever and the acting is nothing but amateurish. The only thing this film can offer is gore!!! So, if you're a fan of Ittenbach's "Premutos" or Schnaas' "Violent S***"-Trilogy this one's the right one for you! Decapitation, chainsaws, Zombies...- all that stuff a real gore-fan could expect. If you're not related to this kind of film, you better don't buy or even rent this splatter-flick.

Wheee...-this movie roxx!!!
28 May 2002
To all those, who criticize this movie in a negative way: Take 7.000 bucks and ask people like Mr.Spielberg, Lucas, Stone or any other Multi-Million-Dollar-Producer to make a movie with this budget. What do you think will be the result? Did you see Rodriguez'10-Minute-Film-School? He didn't even have enough money to buy a can of black paint for the guitarcase!!! Not the best circumstances to make a movie. Not a single inch of film-material was wasted. The whole movie was taken with only 2 different lenses. Robert, you didn't show us how to make a movie...- you gave us a lesson in the ART OF FILM-MAKING!!!
