Random Acts Of Senseless Violence.
27 June 2002
This is the worst movie I've seen for a looooooooooong time. I gave this (uh-oh) "masterpiece" note of 2. Just point for acting (Jared Leto, Willem Dafoe, Christian Bale). Whole movie is nothing more, but stupid, useless, worthless, meaningless and so on, and on... 'American Psycho' is like hiding Jason from 'Friday the 13th' behind Hannibal Lecter's mask and telling Him to act like a really convincing cyco, but Bateman is not doing this. He's out of His element. This movie ISN'T convincing. Nothing else matters. Amen

At least We find out why John Huston didn't like this one...
30 May 2002
Only few words... I do love John Huston and his works, but this one is really baddish. All I can say is that mr Huston did what He could, but One can't do much with such a crappy script. As a director He did a good (but only good) job, but whole movie depicts people who are either stupid or naive. Screenplay is worse than the one in "Friday The 13th part 8"... This movie couldn't make it to the borders of place where Great Western Movies reside. In comparison with Penn's 'Little Big Man' (there's much about Indians too, but it is shown the other way round), it's like playing with matches and playing with flame-thrower. I love John Huston and If it hadn't been for Him, I wouldn't have given this movie 4/10.

I remember reading what He said about this one...:

"This is the only one of my movies, that I really do not like".

Sorry for my English, if it was hard to understand this... or that..

The Babysitter (1980 TV Movie)

How this could ever happen? Step back, Step away from this disaster!

People what's wrong with You?! How, in the nine hells, this movie got so high notes? Geez, this is complete no go. Don't waste neither Your money, nor Your time (as We all know 'time is money'). What I know for sure, is that They should hang'em all high - actors, actresses... o yeah and the script... and music.. There's nothing in this film that makes worth watching it. Yes, I know 'Romeo Is Bleeding' is a great movie, but 'the Babysitter' is Peter Medak's Waterloo. Last thing: There's as much suspense as in Beverly Hills 90210 or any similar crap.

Innocence (Purity) gone, bloody gold.

Now, watching this movie is like tasting a bottle of fine wine (or beer :)). You may not be satisfied at the beginning, but later... If it weren't for 'Midnight Cowboy' who knows..., then maybe 1969 would be the year of 'The Royal Hunt of the Sun'. Sensational film which depicts brutality, hypocrisy, greed. This awesome picture shows how one peaceful (in comparison with the spanish) world falls apart, shows how reality strikes and hits You real hard (e.g. - Young Martin). Robert Shaw and Christopher Plummer... well... They're absolutely fabulous!!! Christopher Plummer with his attitude and ... c'mon watch Him walking, dancing..., even asking about 'art of writing' ! His unbelievable way of acting goes strictly together as one with the way of thinking, moving, ranting... pointing His finger. Robert Shaw - angry, coping with His injured leg, unbeatable, bursting with force. One world dies, as the other one devours Its essence. In the name of god none gives a damn about that. Well maybe some of them do..., but when They have to choose...

WARNING: It's strongly recommended to watch this Movie.

1991: We know where is Kinski..., but the question is: Where is Herzog?
19 May 2002
I must say that I'm little disappointed after watching this movie. It's not this way because I've heard so much about it earlier. It's more like, Werner is trying to do His best because the industry is watching and He wants to show Hollywood His best (this one is even English, not German spoken film).

Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. I've seen it few minutes ago (it's 7:54 am, 20/5/2002) and I consider this picture as one of Herzog's worse creations/works (from what I've seen so far). Why is it so? Well..

Firstly I do miss quotes! I cannot forgive this one! I love'em. Quote at the beginning of "The Mystery Of Kaspar Hauser", quote at the end of "Woyzeck"... These are just unforgettable. Here We've got none of this sort.

Second issue is this constant lack of feeling, feeling like "are We there.? Is it a dream?"... I personally caught myself few times changing into a daydreamer while watching "Aguirre Der Zorn Gottes" or "Herz Aus Gold" and believe my I am not addicted to drugs ;). Next case here is baddish script (I mean it). After all I gave "Cerro Torre..." 6/10. You may ask why... Well.. again: Donald Sutherland may wake You up if You fell asleep. There's one scene with cigarette (very short, but kept in lively manner) I really like. In my opinion Herzog doesn't focus on the main guy in the story as he did in His previous pictures. Shame on Him! :) This guy isn't bad at all, and PLEASE all of You... do me a favour ... Try to imagine that Kinski plays Roccia, okay? thanks. Mentioning actors, I cannot forget about Brad Dourif.. You'll love this fella. You could see Him in: "One flew over cuckoo's nest" for instance. What Herzog is doing with camera is His business, but I preferred when it was more static, showing more landscapes... etc. We saw it during "Aguirre", "Fitzcarraldo"... Well ! mr Herzog! these are mountains ... shouldn't We watch'em some more, instead of some naked bodies? Sounds coming from the screen are not those of heart-shaking type. One last thing, I believe. You liked it the way Werner put some music here, some music there in "Woyzeck"? Well forget about it... CONCLUSION is: That's not the step forwards, it's .. oops! I don't know exactly where I am, Klaus Kinski is dead (Great Man) and I feel like I must do something completely different. Hello? Is it Hollywood? I'm sorry I'm lost. I must have dialed the wrong number...

Everything may happen, when there's no much time left, but so many things to take care of.

Standing on the edge, with morality on one side and decent future of family on the other one may push You into the lungs of Hell...

I consider this picture as Wenders' best from what I've seen so far. It's even better than "Paris, Texas". You might still feel this freedom & fresh air coming from the screen, but at the same time.. there's nothing You can do, but stare and get involved like You would be out there.. Wandering somewhere on dirty streets of Hamburg. I must say that Bruno Ganz and Dennis Hopper are sensational! ONE WARNING! For every Dennis Hopper's fans it's the must-see! Much better performance than "Red Rock West" and (yes!) from time to time as good as in Lynch's "Blue Velvet". That's how We like it! If You are looking for something more than "let's waste friday's evening time", but not as emotionally packed as "Midnight Cowboy" or "the Shawshank Redemption"... Go for it! There's action, there's climax, there's something which cannot be said or written. You didn't like "Wings Of Desire" or "The Million Dollar Hotel"? Well this one is very different. But if You liked these two titles.... Call 911 and tell'em to come after 127 minutes of mind-blowing experience!
