Arrival (II) (2016)
1/10
Long, pretentious drivel about selfish aliens and a selfish woman...
8 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Warning! Big spoilers ahead!

I won't bother going over everything that is wrong with this film since there are plenty of other reviews that cover those areas in detail. Here's the bottom line...

Selfish aliens: Squidwards From Space arrive on Earth and give a woman the gift of foresight in order to unite all nations in peace and harmony, however, they only do this because at some point in the far, far future the aliens "need" our planet...or humans...or whatever...for some unexplained reason. If they didn't need us, they wouldn't have bothered with us. Selfish, right? And a downright ridiculous plot if you think about it.

Selfish woman: The woman, who seems to be having flashbacks, but we eventually find out she's seeing into the future, decides to have a child knowing that as it grows into a teen will succumb to an incurable illness and suffer a lengthy, excruciatingly painful death. Wow, talk about selfish! Her husband leaves her after discovering that she knew full well what would happen to their child, and in one future-vision the daughter (after also learning that her mother knew she would die in her teen years) screams at her "I hate you!" She may have brought peace to Earth, but I hate her too.

Baretta (1975–1978)
10/10
Best 70's TV cop show ever!
29 April 2014
When Baretta was first broadcast, I was 10 years old and I had the BIGGEST crush on Robert Blake. Unfortunately, none of my little friends liked "Baretta". They all watched "Starsky and Hutch" at that time. All I ever heard on the bus ride to and from school was "Paul's cuter!" "No, David's cuter!" It was those two guys or Mark Shera from "Barnaby Jones"...yeesh! I never quite understood the appeal of Paul Michael Glaser or David Soul or Mark Shera, so I had nothing to contribute to the debate (and they all thought I was weird for swooning over Robert Blake anyway). I have to completely disagree with the description of the character Rooster as a "Huggy Bear wanna-be"! (Not sure what Huggy Bear's deal was in "Starsky and Hutch"...some sort of scam artist?) You know Rooster wouldn't hesitate to smack a ho upside the head with his platform shoe, and he might even cut a bitch if necessary. Couldn't imagine anyone named "Huggy" delivering a proper beat down. "Baretta" was an awesomely gritty cop show (oh my, those tight shirts he wore!) and let's face it, Rooster was a straight up pimp. I wish this series was shown in syndication today. I haven't seen it in years.

Chozen (2014)
10/10
Just go with it...
3 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
One slight correction to a previous reviewer's comment. Chozen didn't become gay in prison. If you watch the pilot, it's obvious he was gay long before that point and never made any attempt to hide it. That's what's great about this series too. No one seems to care who's gay, straight, bi, trans-gendered or whatever, which is quite refreshing. You'll either like the concept or you won't. I happen to think it's pretty hilarious, including the way Bobby Moynihan delivers his lines! Yes, he's loud and boisterous, but that's exactly who Chozen is...a guy full of outrageous confidence and in-your-face attitude. There's a lot going on in each episode besides Chozen's struggle for revenge, success and sexual conquests, so those with open minds should give this series a chance. To be honest, my least favorite part of "Chozen" is the rap. I'm not really a fan of that particular genre of music, so I couldn't really say if it's "legit" or not. (Well, I do like some artists, such as Eminem and Outkast, but it's just not my thing for the most part.) Fortunately, the musical interludes are quite short, so it doesn't become annoying if you're not a huge rap enthusiast either.
