Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
Contrived; disingenuous.
The first thing I do is ask: Is the plot believable? Ans: No, no and no!
Every single plot twist in this second rate movie is falsely portrayed on the screen. Something happens. . . A girl is kidnapped, poor thing; Why? So her father will get mad and start a war with a competitor in Mexico, when every single event screams -> CIA! But it gets worse. The CIA dude and his paid Mexican compadre(why is he along?) both develop a soft spot for the kidnapee, because she's a girl of course, and not bad looking at all.
She admits her family is at war with Alejandro's family, as in a Hatfield/McCoy sort of way, and they immediately develop a kind of a man/girl loving relationship. Very non-professional, teenagery, and typical of the sicko Hollywood pseudo-writers nowadays. EVERYTHING that happens in this movie, just ask yourself, Why? Why? Why? It is contrived. It is playing on trivial immature emotions. It makes the US agency heads look much dumber than they really are. . . I t-think. It's a fantasy! It's . . . Disingenuous (look up the definition right now!)
But I liked it because Del Toro was in it.
