I have the good fortune of seeing it in theater
I have the good fortune of seeing this film in the theater. It is a visually powerful film. The scientific imagination of needing to move earth due to impeding solar disaster is a excellent cinematic commentary on the ecological challenge confronted us now, given the issue of climate change. The film is a typical example of narrative with multiple lines and viewpoints. Seeing the few minutes the film gave to the love and marriage of Lu Peiqian and Han Doudou gave a human dimension to the faceless brave folx who risk their own lives for the greater good. Likewise, Tu Hengyu's attachment to his daughter is an enlightening exploration of emotional attachment and letting the finite self go. The agency of the internet server is a hidden element to watch for. All in all, this is a film that gives you the thrill, the smles, the tears and most important of all, the wisdom and tenacity to persist and be good facing the big unknown. It is now on Amazon Prime. A film with multiple viewpoints and storylines may need patience, but this film will reward you. Trust me.

A Great way of combining art and real world social issue.
Have you ever had any family members being sucked into a pyramid scheme? This is a story about a nature-loving simple college student, walking the walk with his mother, seeking to find herself again. His mother becomes infatuated with the self-actualization that the pyramid scheme offers her; such a false sense of self-worth never felt before is unleashed and it becomes very hard to let go. Between hell and paradise, the film artistically juxtaposes the hell-like identification with commodification against the power of sincere love and serene nature. The female lead's highly dramatic acting is award winning. Leo Wu's lotus blossom like Wulian is worthy of the big screen.
His face, his being and the natural scenery is breathe-taking, while scenes from pyramid scheme will surprise and shock you. This film is definitely a departure from the director Guo Xiaogang's earlier film, an astounding artistic use of hellish commercial world and paradisiac serene nature. A Great way of combining art and real world social issue.
