CHiPs (1977)
A very dumb show
If I had to describe this show in one word I'd say: dumb! The storylines are so predictable, and the CHP officers ate tasked with duties that are not CHP duties irl. The car crashes are completely unrealistic! If this show didn't have so much violence and suggestive adult themes I would say it was a great kids show. But since it can't be a great kids show, it's much too goofy to be good for anything else. None of the characters are likable in the least! Ponch is an egotistical idiot, Jon is shallow and annoying, all the female officers are airheads who want to rule the world, and all the criminals have no IQ whatsoever. This show could get away with being goofy if they weren't trying to make it so serious. Dukes of Hazzard was a relatively goofy show after the first three seasons, but it wasn't trying to be serious like CHiPs was! The acting on CHiPs isn't bad but it isn't good either. It is WAY over scored... the trumpets and all that grand music for such a dumb, predictable, pathetic show? A waste of a theme song.
The Dukes of Hazzard: Dukes Meet Cale Yarborough (1979)
great 1st ep for newcomer to series
Absolutely brilliant episode. What can you expect from season 2 anyway... seasons 1-3 were brilliant almost every episode. Season 4 wasn't so hot, and season 5 was simply terrible. Season 6 was an attempted comeback from season 5, but in the end, season 6 and 7 didn't end up being very good. Anyway this would be a great first episode for someone new to the series to watch, if they didn't want to start at the beginning. This episode clearly lays out who the characters are and it has LOTS of good car moments. Definitely one of my top favorite episodes. Overall a wonderful example of a wonderful series.
The Dukes of Hazzard: Brotherly Love (1983)
Brilliant, especially for season 6
One of the 10-15 good episodes from seasons 6 and 7. After Coy and Vance's terrible season 5, the quality went even further down. In seasons 6 and 7 there was a pretty good to brilliant episode every three episodes. This is one of the absolutely brilliant ones. It almost ranks up there with the best episodes from season 1 of the show. The acting is great, every character is used to their fullest and there are some GREAT car scenes. I would've liked to see Jud return in later episodes, but unfortunately he didn't. Such a missed opportunity. Obviously they were running out of story lines if they used robots/aliens later on. They could've just used Jud again.
The Dukes of Hazzard: The Great Santa Claus Chase (1980)
Better than other TV show's Christmas Episodes
For a Christmas episode, this rocks. It definitely does not make my top 15 Dukes episodes list, but it's pretty good, especially for a Christmas episode. As usual with the Dukes of Hazzard there is a healthy amount of car chases, crashes and jumps, and thankfully not as healthy as a dose of corny Christmas fluff. Boss Hogg smiling and laughing while reading about Ebenezer Scrooge was pretty funny, and thankfully they decided not to overdo the 'emotional' part. I am very disappointed by the teasing of the fact that Santa clause might be real, but what are you gonna do about it? Overall very good for a Christmas episode.
The Dukes of Hazzard: Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke (1983)
Brilliant Comeback
A lot of people say that they wanted Coy and Vance to stay on for this entire episode, or that they didn't understand why they didn't. It's because Coy and Vance don't have characters, and most of the audience hated them anyway. This episode was an amazing comeback from the miserable first 18 episodes of season 5, and the beginning of season 6 was awesome too. Sadly, season 7 saw the ultimate downfall of the show. They probably knew they were going to be canceled by the time season 6 had come out since Coy and Vance had taken the ratings down so badly so, they probably just made a season of junky episodes (season 7) to get it done. They really underestimated John and Tom's value. Season 5 is the proof that the car is not the star, even though it is a HUGE element of the show.
The Dukes of Hazzard (1979)
Best TV Show Ever... like i mean it
If I had to describe The Dukes of Hazzard in one word, I couldn't do it! I'll use several words: warm, fun, happy, exiting, endearing... it's just such a good show. It doesn't take long to forget that they are actors. You start to believe that there really is a Duke family who lives in Hazzard county with their indestructible flying orange car. Sure the storylines got rather dumb by the time season 4 ended, but it was just so funny and endearing that you can't criticize it. Only thing I'd say is that Daisy ain't no better than any other 70's/80's girl character. She's pathetic, stuck up and selfish. They had a chance to make her a cool character but missed out.
"The Dukes of Hazzard is not just a hillbilly, scratch-em sitcom, although there's nothing wrong with that, and it's not just a car-crash show, although that's part of its appeal. It's really a fairy tale, an allegory in which good persists through corruption and comes out the other side uncorrupted, un-bought, un-bribed."

It's funny how the guy who plays the villain described the show perfectly in two sentences. I don't just watch the Dukes for the cars and action, although that is a very enjoyable part of the show. I watch the Dukes mainly because once the Dixie horn has blown for the last time, the Duke family is smiling and the credits roll, I get this satisfying feeling that justice has been done. The good have fought the good fight, and they, the underdogs, have come out on top again, while the foolish, evil, rich man sits helplessly tied up in the snare he'd set for the good guys not 45 minutes ago. I'll never get sick of that satisfying feeling that justice has been done so, I reckon I'll never get sick of them good ol' Dukes of Hazzard.
The Dukes of Hazzard: High Flyin' Dukes (1983)
High Flyin' Dukes
People say Luke is the 'bravest of the Dukes'. Sure, it takes a heap of guts for Luke to hang out of a moving car and shoot a bow and arrow, or climb from one moving car to another while being shot at, but it takes the same amount of guts for Bo to jump a car over a gully, to climb out of one car and climb into another via a rope ladder on an airplane while being shot at, or to jump a car over a barn or lake while being shot at. Yeah it's not like Luke never jumped the General Lee, but it's also not like Bo never climbed from one moving car to another*. They're both braver than the average person, but I don't think either of them is braver than the other. And of course it's a TV show and it's mostly stunt doubles anyway, but I'm talking about the characters, not the actors.
*a reason Luke did the climbing from one car to another part more often than Bo did could be because Bo was driving most often, since Bo's a better driver than Luke.
