Yes Man (2008)
It's a Carrey Curry
Some people may find out Jim Carrey is not the same as he was a decade ago but I would say the magic is still there! It's something like you've watched it for at least one and half an hour and you're still expecting something more until the credits start rolling. This Jim Carrey show was no different. Total comedy with a little romantic touch at the end.
Now, I would rather prefer not to say anything about the storyline in here, because I believe everybody must laugh at anything Jim Carrey does in this movie without knowing it before. But in a nutshell this movie is about saying "Yes" to everything and how everything can fall in place with it (though it's mostly being super lucky!). But again when you ask for laughter/smile/enjoyment for one hour and forty minutes, this movie says the magic "Yes" to you.
Finally, it is a preparation of Carrey, with Carrey, by Carrey and so it's a perfect Carrey Curry. All the other characters are nothing compared to his.
Mere Baap Pehle Aap (2008)
Death of a good comedy!
It was not exactly the total failure of Priyadarshan, but at least a part of it. We went to see it because the parts of this movie which is usually shown as a trailer in different channels in TV are hilarious and are definitely the best parts of it. Otherways, it is one of those flicks which runs for long without any reason and without any strong storyline behind it too. The movie started very well, continued till 1 hr and couple of minutes with Priyadarshan's true sense of creating a great humor flick, but suddenly it tried to get down from track and making a mess of it before the long waited "Intermission".
In the second half, the story keeps on crawling with little space for humor in it, and that's where it fails. Certainly, then it felt like wasting too much for trivial things, not exactly related to the genre of the movie.
We've also expected Rajpal Yadav to be given some more minutes in the movie who is definitely the best comedian/actor of the lot. Akshaye Khanna was good at his role, Genelia D'Souza looked very cute, Paresh Rawal and Om Puri were on their own to save the movie. Finally, I would say my 120 bucks were worth for this show out of 200.
Lastly, as I said, this flick was a bit lengthy where more than once we expected it to finish early. But against all odds and failures, this movie did make us laugh 6 times out of every 10 times and hence my rating goes as 6/10.
Woodstock Villa (2008)
Never waste your money on such a horrible flick!
With this one "Bollywood" has once again proved it keeps on wasting lacs of money to introduce youngsters who can't act, can't dance, don't even look good and most unluckily aren't backed up by good storyline. I went to the theater with lot of expectations from Sikandar(Unfortunately I never saw him in the newspaper, magazines) who is related from the family of great names like Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher. In the end I could only say if you don't have a good face for Hindi movies you must know how to act and how to dance (Unfortunately, my dear, Sikandar, you know nothing of them!!). The whole story is based on a kidnap/murder, which is rather comical than being a thriller. The music scores are pathetic and I must add the songs are not required in the movie at all. And specifically I just don't want to discuss about the storyline because there wasn't any real story behind, it's all real CRAP!
