Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Still Giving it a high rating
Ive loved this series from the beginning, although I havent rated any of the espidodes until this one. It was the weirdest and felt the most out of sync with the rest of the series. However, I felt the need to say that despite this strange, weird, out of touch episode, it still adds depth and character to one of the most underrated people on this show.....coach Beard. I wish we had gotten a little less psychedelic episode for him but its still worth it. Just my posting this is testament to that.
If you get a chance to watch this episode, please have a few drinks beforehand, that will definltely help.
The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines (2006)
This movie is fun. It is not an Oscar winning classic.
If I were to base this review simply on commercial success, I would have to give a 3 or a 4, however Noah Wyle makes this movie a hidden gem.
Don't take it too seriously, because they don't have the budget for high quality special effects, but the acting is good (except for a few of the baddies) and it is definitely worth a watch.
Gabrielle Anwar provides a great opposite to Noah in this episode and there are a couple of twists that were unexpected.
I've been pretty happy with the whole librarian series, but again....don't take this stuff too seriously! Its meant to be fun.
Sirens (2014)
Excellent show worth watching
I had no expectations for this show, but I was so pleasantly surprised at how realistic it is in terms of plot lines. Its not really rolling on the floor laughter that it means to provoke but there are a few moments of those as well. Everything seems plausible, unlike so many other shows which have outlandish plot lines that you just cringe at seeing (ie the "Happy Endings" took, even though I still somewhat like that too).
There are serious moments too which also feel real. The chemistry between the cast is great and easy to see.
All in all a great new show and worth watching.
Level Up (2012)
Actually pretty good, if you're into online gaming
First, I think the target audience of young adults would give this a higher rating than it actually has as this is not meant for a general audience.
Having played online role playing games, this appealed to me instantly, and I wasn't disappointed. The acting is fine, the dialogue isn't especially spectacular, but the story is original and fun. The special effects are really pretty good for the budget I would suppose this show has.
All in all its a fun show to watch and I would recommend for people who have played online games or role playing games in general.
Take it for what it is.
The Book of Eli (2010)
Interesting movie to watch. Its just a movie people!
If you have half a brain you can read between the lines when you read a 1-star review for a movie like this. Religious haters will come down hard, but I don't have time for that kind of crap.
Watch this movie without any prejudice and its an enjoyable movie.
Watch this movie thinking that some fanatics were behind it and you probably wont like it.
Its well directed, well filmed and that is basing it on a very difficult script to pull off.
All in all an enjoyable film with good acting.
Luckily for me I had absolutely no idea what the movie was about before I watched it, so my pleasure was guaranteed!
Lie to Me (2009)
A truly great new show
We came across this quite by accident, but have been extremely pleasantly surprised.
A pseudo-psychological thriller, Tim Roth takes you into an area which hasn't been explored yet (except in random episodes of some series) area of body language.
Each show deals with two cases, and although they are completely separate, all the main characters intervene (mostly) in both cases to give their specific viewpoints. Its kind of like a CSI but totally based on speech, behavior and other body language.
I give it a 10 because it has captivated me completely, and gives you a nice little feeling of having learned a little after each episode. Even more so than with MacGyver :) I recommend to watch just the first episode. If you like it, you will 100% like the rest of the first series. If not, nothing lost!
