A love story, sex, or seduction?
8 July 2023
There are different kinds of love, and the lowest of them is physical love, i.e. Sex.

Unfortunately, our current vocabulary is so poor that we use the same word "love" for sex, for a mother's love for her child, and even for faith in our Spiritual God-Father.

In the logline for this film, we read "... romance blossoms between a seventeen-year-old student and an older man..." But was it really a romance, i.e. Love story, or something else?

The plot of the film is constructed in such a way that the viewer at first naively believes that this is a kind of physical love of equal partners. In other words, romance.

This illusion lasts until Elio tells Oliver "God, we wasted so many days! Why you didn't give me a sign?", meaning that they could have started having sex much sooner.

In turn, Oliver's response throws us back to the ground when he replies "I gave you a hint when I touched you on the 'football' field."

This phrase means that 30+-year-old Oliver deliberately seduced a teenager Elio, who is half the age of his partner. This deliberate physical action and the consequences that follow it, we can not by no means call "love story, i.e. Romance." Even according to our undeveloped vocabulary, the real name for this act is SEDUCTION and this seduction is of a naive and underage boy.

After all, any physical action of a person, such as a touch, is determined primarily by mental intention. Even a simple casual touch can trigger feelings, but touch with intent has a much more powerful effect on a person.

It is the responsibility of the producer and director of the film to convey the message in the logline as accurately as possible, i.e. It's not romance, but a seduction.

In general, the film was shot at a high-quality level.

Father Stu (2022)
10/10
About the difficult path to God
12 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the best films about the difficult path of man to God.

Stuart is a boxer with a father who is a drunkard living for his own pleasure and a loving mother, without a spiritual spark.

His life destiny brings him to a change* - leaving boxing. He tries to become an actor but to no avail. In the meanwhile, he meets a Mexican girl who is Catholic.

To move on to a relationship with a girl, he is baptized.

Despite this, he continues to solve problems in the same way as before - with his fists. Even in confession, Stuward's speech is full of profanity.

However, our Higher Brothers see that the guy has a good potential for Spiritual growth. For this reason, they decided to create a problem in Stuart's life.

Before that, to attract attention, a messenger is sent to him. We do not know the details of whether this is a person or a talking hologram, but he predicted to Stu the further development of events in his personal life.

The stranger also warns Stewart not to drive that night. However, Stu ignores the weird guy's warning and gets behind the wheel.

A series of strange coincidences on an almost empty road leads him into a serious traffic accident. Again, our High Brothers are using their valuable resources to send Stu, the Holy Virgin.

The short conversation with the mother of Jesus should encourage Stu to move on with his life script no matter what.

Coming out of a deep coma, Stu decides to become a Catholic priest. (The courage and adventurism of this guy, using every opportunity, is stunning).

But on the way to his further life goal, Stu faces a new obstacle - his physical health is threatened by a terminal illness. His flippant mother recommends that he spend the rest of his life in pleasure, but Stu refuses the idea.

He prefers to continue following his goal.

During this difficult journey, Stu constantly improves his consciousness. Besides other spiritual revelations, this enables him to understand the value and purpose of suffering.

This is a great spiritual movie recommended for the whole family.

One Last Deal (2018)

Disappointing film
12 May 2023
The protagonist is an old man who tends to buy low and sell high. He teaches the same to his teenage grandson.

Despite the fact that the main character works in the field of art, he does not bring any inspiration or uplift to the plot and his attention is focused on completely on the money.

However, there were several moments in the film that could serve as the basis for introducing a deeper metaphysical or spiritual layer into the film's plot.

For example, the impetus for this could be the moment when the main character shows his grandson a picture with an old man and a child, and subsequently beat why Repin painted an icon of a saint instead of a portrait of a rich man.

This could work great for completing his own life story and a lesson for his grandson - material things aren't all we're here for.

A keyword - Personality
27 December 2022
This is a film with a strong female protagonist.

A person in the bloody turmoil of war does not give up her thinking, but does what her conscience and inner instinct tells her to do.

This is once again a Finnish film about the war, without chauvinism and division into "friends and foes."

The main focus here is Personality.

The main character is a young woman with a mature soul, able to separate the wheat from the chaff.

In the bloody turmoil of war, she does not give up her beliefs, following the orders of someone else's power, but does what her conscience tells her to do.

Since her words and actions are full of Courage and Compassion for others, we can say that she was a spiritual being moving towards the Light.

Tove (2020)
7/10
A biographical film about Moomin's creator- Tove Jansson.
17 December 2022
Normally, biographical films are not too cheerful, but rather conservative, this movie is an exemption from the rule.

Tove is an artist who wants to go further beyond the restrictions provided to her by society. So, she does not follow the "norms" which would be allowed her to get a grant and approval from her own father, who was an artist too. Therefore, she barely survives economically having trouble even paying rent.

However, she has spiritual strength for doesn't give up, and step by step she creates a whole world of Moomin.

Thanks to a chance she was able to open an exhibition of her Muumilaakso heroes and get recognition.

The conclusion: Tove was able to survive and bring to the children and adults her passion, but how about other artists?

Thousands of artists apply for a grant to cover their basic cost of living and only 10% of them get the help ( Finland, the year 2018). Therefore, 90 % of the artists left without any financial support are forced to give up on their passion and go to a brutal job to cover basic bills.

And how many of them are capable to survive?

Any economically developed society must recognize the value of Art and Creativity. Besides traditional museums, Houses of Emerging Artists must be established in each capital city, where they can exhibit their art in tangible or digital formats.

That will bring great visibility and value of Art into Society attracting investors, partners, and ordinary people uplifting society as a whole.

Biography of a woman artist
29 November 2022
There is no doubt that there is a high demand for feature films promoting women artists and entrepreneurs. Of particular interest are those who have achieved success and recognition, as they serve as a source of inspiration and striving for success among the younger generation.

However, to a modern viewer, it may seem that this film lacks action and thrills. And synergy with contemporary issues.

However, there is always room for improvement. For example, the plot could have two main characters - one Elena, and the other lives in the modern world and, like Elena, has a strong desire to invest her life in her own goals, achieving professional and personal growth.

The theme of the struggle for women's rights has been extremely important in all areas since the time of the Roman Empire and attracted the attention of not only women, but also men who bow to strong and independent women.

And the role of women in Finland has always been great, and it is not for nothing that the Finns became the first nation to give women the right to political elections, and now they have a woman prime minister.

Lack of understanding of spiritual things
20 November 2022
Pros: great attention grabber and charming protagonist

Cons: A poorly developed idea, if there was one at all.

Lack of understanding of spiritual things and the concept of sacrifice in particular.

Two ideas for upgrade options: 1. Positive protagonist: with respect for nature as a living being. In this case, the spirit of the lake helps her save her drowning son.

Or A negative protagonist obsessed with materialistic things and consumerist attitude towards nature.

In this case, the spirit of the lake gives her a lesson by taking away her beloved son in order to awaken human feelings in her and give her a chance to improve.

Fight Club (1999)
Fancy action movie with spiritual concept
12 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Fancy movie with spiritual concept hidden under the entertainment with elements of violence. The place: consumer-minded well-fed, well-structured society (could be any so called developed country); The main hero: a young man, who is protesting the society where there is no space for an Individual. The problem: main hero got a sleeplessness. it leads him at the first step to the narrow "niche" of the society- desperate people suffering from bad deseases. The fight club was appeared as the next step. Its his own "niche", own creation of the main hero.

This is a fight-protest inside and against the well-fed society slacking the consumer- minded structure.

Individual, and later a Fight Club organization, formed by number of followers, are in the opposition to the structured world. The opposition is providing a tense and a need for a change. The change however is leading to the destruction of the existing world. Its a big risk for the appearance of non- controllable anarchy.

Horror movie with element of " classic" spiritual choice
11 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Horror movie with element of high spiritual choice in the very beginning of the story.

Main hero, a man with high level of spiritual consciousness and spiritual direction to God, is getting a test via his beloved wife's death. By accepting the loss the man could gain a spiritual strength and become closer to God. However, the man made the opposite choice- he complained of God. As a result of this opposition the main hero ( Dracula) lost his unique chance to gain an extra enlightenment and changed his direction toward the Dark forces. The devotion to the dark forces transformed the man to their servant, i. e. a vampire.
