House Shark (2017)

You Know What To Expect - And Yes, It's A Lot Of Fun
16 May 2018
One can't watch a movie called "House Shark" and expecting a horror movie that's scary and thrilling. BUT, one has to watch "House Shark" for what it actually is: a lovingly and funny homage to all of the shark movies (mainly, of course, "Jaws"), where everybody is in on the joke and they're having the time of their life.

This is a fun, micro-budgeted, clever little movie that is more astute than the vast majority of flicks you see on SyFy (or the like). All right, they don't have drones or cranes or state-of-the-art special effects - so what? The movie has a pulsating heart, and it was made by people who cared, and who are having fun.

Why shouldn't you, then? (also, the underwater scenes are shot in one of the most clever way I've ever seen - and they are totally efficacious) Overall, a very fun romp into the shark movie realm.

One of the most jaw-dropping experiences of my life

This series of frames (I cannot force myself to call it "movie," sorry) is appalling, mesmerizing, unbelievable... You can't miss it!!

If you feel like spending one evening by laughing uncontrollably at your TV screen, this is the movie for you. Don't look for mundane film-things like a story, character development or a satisfying climax - those things are left to the amateurs. This is beyond any possible human comprehension.

Here's what I think the movie is about: there are some US Army ships, a couple of choppers (stock footage filmed by the writers while on vacation, or so is said in the commentary), then a bunch of scuba divers find in a submarine some frozen piranha in Ziplock bags, there is probably a plane with a lot of smoke and a crash-landing in a lake. I think. Suddenly, the piranha are free in the lake, which has alternatively some of the murkiest and cleanest water I've ever seen. Then something happens, and the movie is over (after 1 hour and 10 minutes).

Superb!! You will appreciate the complete ineptitude of setting up a story of some sort, the great locations used for the flick (the hotel by the lake has a great lobby... not!!), the Agent sent (presumably) by the Government, who seems to have the I.Q. of a beet, and everything else, including a score made by someone who was clearly watching another movie.

Do not miss this movie if you want to have a ball with your friends and you enjoy talk back at films. It's a riot!!

Heartwarming, very funny movie.

Little Cary Guffey from Spielberg's "Close Encounters" plays here an extra-terrestrial kid who got beamed down on Earth by mistake, and meets with Bud Spencer who, as any good sci-fi cop, doesn't believe the kid and thinks he's only pulling his legs. He will make up his mind pretty quickly, and will side with the little kid, while the army tries everything to snatch the alien. The story offers many standard moments for Bud Spencer's punch-fight trademark scenes, and even if very naive, the story is good for more than a few laughs and a very satisfying ending. The Oliver Onions' sountrack (Guido & Maurizio DeAngelis) doubles the pleasure. It's not Frank Capra, but it's a good movie for the whole family.
