Uncoupled (2022)
A gay Sex & and the City 😁
Netflix better renew this show! You can't leave it hanging like that! That finale!
I love everything Darren Star makes ever since Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place (and Sex & the City of course) so this one was a no brainer for me. I loved it!
It was funny and emotional in the same way as SATC was. But gay!
Neil Patrick Harris was a amazing, and the entire ensemble cast too, even those who appeared in just one single episode.
I can't wait to watch more seasons, because I'm sure there will be more! 5 at least!
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Eh...
I give it an 8 mainly for the nostalgia of seeing Ian, Ellie and Alan together again.
All the nods to the original movie were cool too, but the story itself felt a bit... Hum... I don't know, it felt like something was missing. And the whole locus storyline was kind of odd too.
Great action sequences as usual, and amazing effects. But definitely not my favorite movie in the Jurassic Park/World franchise.
I's rank it right next to Jurassic Park III.
Haepiniseu (2021)
A fresh look at an outbreak
"Happiness" is a really good drama about hard times during lockdown. It really takes on a new look at the zombie genre and makes it 10 times better.
Don't expect the craziness and mayhem of "All of Us Are Dead" or "Train to Busan", but there is action and tense sequences well spaced out during the 12 episodes.
It's about the relationship and hardships the residents of the apartment complex face during the outbreak of an infectious desease.
I was really surprised. I enjoyed every episode. They are all over an hour long, so it's like watching 12 mini movies.
The characters are well portrayed and relevant for the story. Some of them are annoying, some quite unlikeable and even obnoxious.
For a drama about a lockdown during an outbreak, these people surely spend a lot of time out of their apartments, roaming around the building in and out of their homes.
The Adam Project (2022)
Entertaining sci-fi
I really enjoyed this one! And I'm not a fan of Ryan Reynolds' movies.
Nice acting, emotional score, really good action sequences and special effects.
For a Netflix flick it was really good, I would've watched it at the cinema too.
Scream (2022)
I still prefer The Babadook 😜
It was fun to watch but not scary at all. Then again I never thought of the Scream movies as scary anyway. I love the original Scream, and in my mind that one is the best of them all.
This one was ok, but it doesn't really add anything new to the franchise. They did a great job comnecting all the original characters to this one, but the big reveal was a bit of a let down, really been there, done that.
Did we need this one? Not really. Was it fun to watch? Yes, kinda.
The Crazies (2010)
Another outbreak flick
It's not bad,but it's not the best either.
The concept is fine, the execution ok. The acting and pacing is fine too. It's another outbreak survival movie, which is not pretty bad.
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
Holy s***t!
Koreans really know how to make a zombie flick!
Great character building and introduction of the different plotlines.
Two episodes in and it's mayhen and chaos all over the school!
As you go on more characters and different situations are presented and it all unfolds perfectly.
It is really well paced and non-stop action. A dramatic scene here and there but not too much to get you bored.
Freaky zombie outbreak like I've never seen before (only in Train to Busan).
I can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Eternals (2021)
Ok, what's next?
I want to say I loved it, but I can't. Did I enjoy it? Yes! But I'm just not crazy about it.
The effects were amazing, the music was great too and the fighting sequences were awesome!
I wish we had more info about the Deviants, I feel like we didn't really know much about them and when we got to really see them and know what they were all about, they were gone.
Maybe it's because it was a whole new thing full of characters I never even heard of, it took me sometime to see who was who and who did what.
The big reveal and twist was great though, I didn't see it coming.
And what was that mid-credit scene about? Huh? I didn't get it. But then again, I'm not a comic book fan, I only watch the movies and my knowledge of it all only comes from them. So I'll have to dig about that.
And that other after-credits scene? Well... I don't know what to make of it yet.
El páramo (2021)
Very odd movie
They say sometimes less is better, but in this case, I wish there was more.
The setting, cinematography, music and even the acting is good, but at the end all I can say is: What was going on? Was it a ghost? Was it a creature? Was it a product of their imaginations? Was the mother crazy? What the hell was happening?
A very good suspense and drama-driven movie but with a very unsatisfying ending.
I reminded me of The Babadook (which scared the hell out of me by showing nothing), or the VVitch, which was actually scary.
Area 51 (2015)
Boring
I never liked found footage movies ala Blair Witch Project, so this was a big No for me as soon as it started. I gave up after 10 minutes, I couldn't care less about what was happening: a party, college kids getting wasted and jumping naked into the pool, meh... I quit watching.
Vtorzhenie (2020)
Visually amazing
I had no idea this was a sequel, so that little montage at the beginning of the movie was very confusing to me, I didn't know what was going on and when I figured it out I was kind of uninterested in seeing what would happen next, but I kept watching and was surprised by the action sequences and special effects in the final act of the movie.
I need to see the first movie to fully understand what was happening and to get the whole picture, but as a sci-fi, alien invasion movie, it was ok. Again, a bit confusing for me but I was invested in the story till the end.
The whole water dome sequence was amazing, the best part of the entire movie.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Super slow burn
Great cast, and that is all. It's funny at times, also boring and dull and incredibly gory. All those great actors just to get them killed off screen.
It takes a long while for stuff to get started but when it does it's kind of fun and chaotic.
Strange humour, it's a comedy but it's pretty gritty and melancholic too.
It gave me George Romero's Night of the Living Dead vibes (I guess that was the intention).
And that alien space ship at the end? What the hell was that about? Totally ridiculous.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Hilarious!
I'm almost done with season 1 but I got hooked since episode 1!
Loving the clash of worlds and how the family is coping with their new reality.
Catherine Ohara is amazing! Dan and Eugene are hilarious!
Red Notice (2021)
Meh
Just your standard thieves action movie.
The Rock, Ryan Reynolds playing his goofy self as usual and wonder woman without her suit. Pretty ok.
It checks all the boxes for an action flick: thieves, prison break, car chase, cons, dance sequence and even a bull quick chase.
I kept wondering how they could just travel so much from country to country considering INTERPOL and everyone is looking for them.
It leaves the door open for a sequel which I'm not going to bother to watch.
The Remaining (2014)
Holy molly!
Wow! I was surprised by how quickly I got hooked on it.
The chaos and all natural disaster stuff was really well done, the effects were pretty good.
For a movie I had no idea what it was about, it turned out to be quite entertaining. Except the ending, which sucked big time!
I didn't care for all the religious bs, but it got pretty annoying by as the movie went on. It would've been good to show the strange creatures (fallen angels?). But it was pretty scary and tense not seeing them at all.
To sum up: it's just another average end-of-the-world, survival and suspense-horror flick.
Don't take it too serious and you might enjoy it.
The Darkest Hour (2011)
Another alien invasion
I saw this 10 years ago when it was first released, and I wasn't impressed.
I watched it again now, and I'm still not impressed, but it is a watchable, entertaining movie.
It doesn't waste much time setting the characters and then invasion takes place quite fast. Mayhem amd chaos everywhere, people screaming, aliens disintegrating people (and dogs), you know the drill... Another typical alien invasion, except the aliens are invisible!
It's an Ok movie for a saturday afternoon. Get some popcron and enjoy it.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Not as bad as they say
Another chapter in The Matrix saga.
I actually enjoyed it, although it took me a while to get into.
I didn't know what was going on at first, but once it became clear, I kind of figured what was next: freeing Trinity.
I had re-watched the first three movies before watching this one so everything was fresh in my mind, but those little flashbacks to the previous films were a nice addition.
It's not as good as the original, the second or the third one. But it is not so bad either. It has lots of action sequences (that SWARM mode was INSANE!), great effects (the machines were better designed and better looking too) and good music.
The bad thing: the villains. They were so weak and were not even close to the great Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith, nor were they as menacing as any other agent in the previous films.
Don't expect too much WOW. It's the matrix, a sci-fi movie with a love story.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Ok, not bad but not good either.
I don't know anything about the video games, so I base my review only in the film.
As a scary movie, it is ok, some jump scares here and there but that's it.
If it wasn't called Resident Evil I wouldn't know what the heck was going on, what is this Umbrella Corp. And stuff? I know because I watched all the previous RE movies.
There were some monsters and weird creatures that I have NO IDEA what they were or where they came from (experiments I guess).
And how did everyone in town get sick? What happened in the mansion? Why was the orphanage all abandoned? No explanation about anything, only that they (Umbrella Corp) are relocating and blowing up the town.
Will there be a sequel? Or this is it?
Antlers (2021)
Not your typical scary monster movie
It's not what I expected, but it was good. A mixture of drama, suspense, myth and horror.
It's got a very depressing, gloomy mood shown in the town and the characters, who are all dealing with their own demons while this strange mythological creature wreaks havok.
Pretty good horror movie.
The Master Cleanse (2016)
Odd
A weird movie. It's not bad, but it's not great either. Very strange but easy to follow and understand.
It feels like a lost episode of the Twilight Zone or something like that.
Nisser (2021)
Great story, terrible acting
I kept wishing that the annoying little girl get eaten by the elves.
The story and idea is great, the setting, the music and the slow reveal of the creatures are amazing. However, the acting... Especially that girl was terrible. She did everything you should not do.
I was really rooting for the monsters to get her.
This Is the End (2013)
Hilariously dumb!
So dumb and funny!
It's a very enjoyable non-sense disaster movie. The funniest thing is to see all the celebrities getting killed.
Don't expect too much other than people getting killed, running around screaming and doing stupid things.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Wow! Pleasantly surprised!
It's not your typical super hero movie. In fact it doesn't feel like a MARVEL movie at all, but more of fantasy movie.
It's got non-stop action, plenty of fights, martial arts, magic, mythical creatures and DRAGONS!
What's not to like?
Invasion (2021)
Patience needed
UPDATE: It is a slow burn for sure, and the first 5 episodes will probably make you want to quit watching, but episode 6! Wow! If you keep watching, you probably won't stop after this episode.
It's like War of The Worlds and A Quiet Place together in one episode.
If only this episode happened earlier in the season! But I guess the creators really wanted to take their time and set the entire thing slowly. Very slowly!
When you finally see the aliens! OMG!
Your patience will be rewarded.
There's Someone Inside Your House (2021)
Meh
A Scream/Gossip Girl horror wannabe type of movie. For a rainy saturday afternoon is ok. Too much teen drama as usual. It fits perfectly in the Netflix universe of bad movies.
