This is my second "experience" with the Backyardigans and I'm so glad they're still put out shows! My oldest is now almost 8 and it has been several years since we used to watch it together, but now his little brother is enjoying it! Other reviewers have done a better job than I can of addressing the great musical themes and performances, the artwork, and the subtle lessons that come through. And, as other reviewers have said, grown-ups can enjoy it as a relief from the endlessly repetitive toddler and preschool shows that have their value, but can drive parents nuts when heard again and again.

I will fully admit to singing along with the catchy theme song and "The Pirate Says Argh"! The music is wonderful... the voice actors fantastic (yet still kid-like, which is even better)... and the "sets" remind me of what it was like to let your imagination fly free as a kid. Both my boys have enjoyed it (my oldest has even joined us a few times!) - I highly recommend it. Cheers from a mom in Idaho!

So it should say "Cheadle and Sandler Were Amazing." I didn't know what to expect, as I'd forgotten about it hitting the theaters last year. The story is excellent. I'm sure there are flaws in the film, as most films have them, but what problems there were ended up lost in the story and the job these two men did in presenting their characters. I've always thought of Adam Sandler as a comedian, funny but never to be taken truly serious. I enjoy his movies, mostly as a guilty pleasure (ie, childish and low humor). This is nothing like anything I've seen him do before. And without giving anything away, this character - even the movie itself - reminded me of The Fisher King. I loved that movie as well. Grief is painful and each person deals (or doesn't deal) with it differently. These movies are simply a look into one way these particular characters live in it. Flaws and all, this is a great movie... worth a second look by doubters.
