Shockingly Good!
12 October 2010
I LOVED it. And I didn't think I would. I almost turned it off after about fifteen minutes because I was kinda tired, it was late, and Vin Diesel doesn't look nearly as hot without hair. But, I held out and I was given a real treat. It was excellent! Mr. Diesel can act well and is not just an action movie star. I found myself rooting for the smart ass mobster. I agree that Annabella Sciorra was good in her very small role and I wish we had seen more of her. Another thing, damn those guards for breaking up that hot, little scene they had going there. But, I digress and say that this movie was a filled with great laughs, good story line, and enough drama to make you really care about the characters. Definitely a thumbs up picture.

Depends on You
11 October 2010
The Stock Market looks boring in this movie. I missed the glamorous shine offered to us by The Boiler Room and other works like it. Then, again, it could be the age of the movie. There is no doubt that Charlie Sheen shines here and Michael Douglas is twistedly brilliant. It is an excellent business and stock marketing movie, but seemed rather dry to me. It is classic and offer plenty of good quotes and lessons about money and life. The ending to me was a bit of a cop out. They could have at least given us a trial. But, I did learn that Gordon Gekko was wrong, because the fact remains that for people with a soul, "Greed, for lack of a better word, is evil".

Strays....Good Title
11 October 2010
Alright, this movie....is for lack of a better word: interesting. It has it's strengths and weaknesses. Strength 1: Vin Diesel looking, a walk through ten miles of broken glass just to drink his bathwater, HOT! I mean, this whole review could be about this fine specimen of man, but I digress. Strength 2: The acting was good. It seemed almost unscripted. The banter between the gang was perfect and very true to life. Weakness 1: THE ENDING!!! What the hell was that? I mean, let them be together! Bad choice Mr. Diesel, but because of those obviously frequent trips to the gym, I am willing to forgive. Weakness 2: Skipping over when they made love. I know it's petty and girlie and even slightly perverse, but I don't care! I wanted to see some skin. So, there's my review. Thanks.

A Sweet November It Was
17 June 2009
Anyone who saw this movie and thought is was boring or corny, simply don't get the wonderful subtle elements within it. It was made to show how someone, completely devoid of sentiment can learn to love and appreciate the smaller and sweeter things of life. Everyone falls in love with Sara Deever (Theron) because all of us have some Nelson (Reeves) in us. We all wish and hope to be as youthful and loving as Sara. This movie is sad, but also a feel-good movie. It leaves wanting to appreciate life a little more. To quote the film, "It doesn't get much sweeter than this". This movie had all the elements of a great film. Great actors, message, and story. Just give it a chance and maybe you will get a second chance at life.

Very Good Norton and Hopkins!!!
16 June 2009
This movie was just very entertaining and fun to watch. Having seen it a bunch of times and loving it every time, I know what I am talking about when I say that it keeps you entertained and having a great time. It brings back one of the most and epic and disturbingly lovable characters in cinema history, 'Dr. Hannibal Lecter', and we also get the bonus, and it's a big bonus, of Edward Norton's amazing acting skills. Why hasn't he been given an Oscar yet? Anyway, watch it and you will be in for quite a treat. Also, I read a review that said, "better than 'Hannibal', not as good as 'Silence of the Lambs'". Well, that is comparing apples and oranges.

Not worth the controversy!!!
20 August 2008
I read that back in 1984, there was a lot of controversy and protest about how it was corrupting the youth. In reality, the protest should have been about the movie itself and how horribly it was made. The acting was mediocre and bordering on atrocious. Bad casting, bad direction, bad everything basically. The idea of a killer Santa Clause is intriguing and if used well, it could be great in fact, but this movie just made me feel like I was being mocked for wasting my money on renting the stupid movie. Skip this and save yourself the disappointment, disgust, and the utterly nauseating experience. I thought the whole thing was a joke and beneath a 1/10 which I had to give it because IMDb Database doesn't allow a lower rating.

Frickin' Sweet!!!
29 May 2008
This movie has it all and more. It has the action, the awesome explosions, followed by the flinging of body parts and blood. Rambo was super cool. The acting was spectacular. This movie although great, it doesn't beat the first one because the first is not only just as great, but it is classic. Sylvester Stallone proved that you are never too old to blow up people up and kick ass. It was realistic, brutal, and I want to watch it over and over again. The acting of Julie Benz was good and very sincere. Even the annoying, minor characters had their own bit of charisma, charm, and added wonderful things to the movie. We have to to have bad guys after all. It was an action packed adventure for everyone who has ever liked action movies, Rambo, or has common sense. Thanks Stallone!!!

27 Stars!!!
29 May 2008
This film was the grandest of romantic comedies. Usually romantic comedies are not my thing because they don't have a good balance. There is either not enough comedy or not enough romance. I prefer a choice of classification and not a mix of the two, but I was pleasantly surprised with this film. It had me laughing, getting angry along with Jane, and even crying. It is cheesy and fun. It gives good insight and a great message. Katherine Heigl was adorable and James Marsden was hilarious and in Heigl's words: "Sexy". There was great casting with the other minor characters as well. The selfish, but sweet underneath sister was played by "Heartbreak Kid" kooky-girl, Malin Akerman, and the man that was pined after was played by the classic, but slightly boring, Edward Burns. He gives something to the film though. In the end, it wraps up to be a good time for all.

Sophie's Choice
29 May 2008
This movie was given an 8/10 purely because of Meryl Streep's forever amazing performance. This movie is truly haunting. "...There are still some things we have yet to imagine", is the slogan of this movie. This is true because some of the things in the world are just too difficult to imagine. Sophie's Choice dares to show us those true horrors of life. Kevin Kline was also incredible with his portrayal of someone with a schizophrenic disorder before the time when that sort of thing was recognized. Peter MacNicol had an easy, but still memorable performance. This movie has a place in history, due to it's disturbing and unimaginably painful decisions and ideals it drives our minds to, and Meryl Streep has raised the bar in way that almost no one could ever surpass.

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed.
21 May 2008
I had high hopes for this picture, considering their was such a large and almost all-star cast. In reality what I got was kind of a half-ass try at a love story that could have been told so much better. The story line was a little faulty and the best thing was the landscape of the setting. Claire Danes is not as great of an actress as I thought. She has some talent, but she is just shy of Oscar material. The best acting was done on Hugh Dancy's part with his portrayal of the miserable drunk. Harris' appeal was unknown to me, and why everyone was in love with him was a mystery. The charisma was low and the story was weak. I was expecting a grand love story with magic mixed in and I didn't receive. I am sure to be more careful about how high I allow my hopes to get next time. So, thanks for wasting my time to Lajos Koltai. In all the misery and weakness of this movie, came some good. I cried at the end because it taught me something. Now I know that life should not be wasted and every moment is precious. It seems that life flies by. Being only an adolescent myself, maybe I have no real idea what I am babbling about, but I think that deep inside the poorly made cinematic adventure, was a message about how short and sweet life really is.

What's all the HUB-BUB?!
21 May 2008
This movie didn't even deserve the 1/10 I rated it, but 1 is as low of rating that IMDb allows. This movie is claimed to be terrifying and I heard that some people said they couldn't even sleep the night after. This movie was ridiculously not scary and deserves all the mocking it can get. In my opinion, one person liked it and all their friends just agreed. Then this trend just went on, until almost everyone declares it to be horrifyingly frightening. Those of us with IQ's over 55, know that this movie was a waste of time and although the idea of being lost in the woods is terrifying, you don't get credit for a pursuing the death of some teenagers. This movie was humiliating to everyone whoever saw it, and we are all now dumber for watching it. Thanks losers!

I am Legend
5 April 2008
Way overrated! That is all I can say about this movie. As a huge fan of Will Smith, I was very disappointed. Expecting to go to the theater and see a movie that the critics call "mind-blowing", instead I was given a mediocre film who's story line has been done before, but in different ways. It had an overtone of depression and sadness. The only brilliance of this movie is the acting of Will Smith and his slow slip into the cabin fever madness, which there was not even very much of. This movie pulled in millions upon millions, only due to the fact that Will Smith has reached "A" list level stardom and people assume that almost anything he makes is good. I was very disappointed and I give this a 4/10.

Jeepers Creepers
5 April 2008
This movie is a true horror classic. Some people who couldn't get past the lizard in the hat part of this, I feel bad for them because obviously they have no imagination. This movie had every element necessary to create a great horror film. Why a 7/10 you ask? Only because compared to classics like From Here to Eternity and Rain Man, this movie is very pale in complexion. If you are a huge fan of horror movies and entertainingly fun gore, watch this flick and enjoy. Those of you who have heard that it is cheesy and fake from friends, well Maybe in their opinions, it was. Maybe they need more gore and are looking for a Re-Animator type of movie, but see it for yourself. If you turn out not liking it, what did you waste? A measly 90 minutes of life. Just take a chance.

Rescue Me (2004–2011)

Rescue Me
9 March 2008
Drama, intensity, and heat. All components of Rescue Me and a great show. Denis Leary is a phenomenal actor and if it weren't for this show, we never would have known it. This show is realistic and entertaining. It is hilarious, deep, and performances by others than just Denis Leary give it a real spunk and attitude that we all love. It has the ability to make a situation go from bad to worse to the worst you could possibly imagine, and have you frustrated along side the characters, yet giggling as well. This show deserves a lot more recognition than it is receiving. Andrea Roth gives a sizzling performance. Steven Pasquale is great as the annoyingly dumb, yet hilarious sidekick. Watch this show, it's grotesque, gratuitous, and pure television genius.

Awake
8 March 2008
Awake adds new levels to the title of psychological thriller. Just when you think you know what's going on, a new twist rocks you with a shock bigger than the one before. With a charismatic cast and Jessica Alba going to new lengths as an actress, this movie is sure get your heart pumping. Hayden Christiansen gives new depth to the term anesthetic awareness. This movie grabs you and refuses to let go. This movie "does for operations, what Jaws did for the water"-Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter. Terrence Howard is slightly confusing and makes you wonder. Every thing is achieved, and this movie deserves more recognition than it is getting. I thank the writer Joby Harold for allowing me to slip into a deep sleep for almost two hours filled with frightening, disturbing, and brilliant dreams.

That '70s Show (1998–2006)

That 70's Show
8 March 2008
If any show in the last ten years deserves a 10, it is this rare gem. It allows us to escape back to a time when things were simpler and more fun. Filled with heart and laughs, this show keeps you laughing through the three decades of difference. The furniture was ugly, the clothes were colorful, and the even the drugs were tolerable. The hair was feathered, the music was accompanied by roller-skates, and in the words of Merle Haggard, "a joint was a bad place to be". Take a trip back to the greatest time in American history. Fall in love with characters and the feel good essence of the small town where people were nicer to each other. This classic is on television as much as "Full House". Don't miss it, and always remember to "Shake your groove thing!!!"

An Affair to Remember
3 March 2008
How to describe a movie this timeless is almost impossible. Cary Grant was someone every woman could fall in love with. He has a certain charm that tugged at my heart. There is also the splendid Deborah Kerr. She is unbelievably wonderful and causes tears with her heart-warming performance. It allows us to escape to another world where anything can happen. It makes us have hope that one day we will find someone and meet them at the top of the Empire State Building. Movies like this fill our hearts with love and look back on the sweeter things in life. The scenery of this movie just reeks of happiness and wonderment. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr are marvelous and this movie will live on in my heart forever.

The Stand (1994)
4/10
Stephen King's The Stand
1 March 2008
The beginning of this movie was very entertaining and gripping. After the second hour, and the third, the fourth, and the fifth, I was nearly snoring. After you have invested nearly a quarter of your day into this movie, you are trapped because you have to know what happens. About three hours in, I found myself only watching it for the sight of Rob Lowe and my silent prayer that the non-charismatic Molly Ringwald would be killed off. Stephen King is usually a genius and I would have watched anything he made, well Mr. King, you really disappointed me. If you ever see this, I am billing you for the six hours of my life that I will never get back.

A Streetcar Named Desire
23 February 2008
This is a movie of madness, mystery, and love. It is timeless and filled with brilliance. It has all the makings of a great cinematic masterpiece. There is the magnificent acting if Miss Vivien Leigh and her slow slip into madness. The portrayal of sweet and warm-hearted, Stella, by Kim Hunter is compelling. Then we have the truly incredible acting of Mr. Marlon Brando. He is what gives the story so much power. It is a struggle to get past his brutal actions and words, but once you do, you see clearly that there is heart behind every word spoken and every swing taken. Just the feeling and aura of the 1950's New Orleans makes this movie a legend in it's own time and ours. This movie is a classic and will be remembered for all time.
