Gekijô-ban poketto monsutâ: Adobansu jenerêshon pokemon renjâ to umi no ôji manafi (2006)
Another satisfying and enjoyable Pokemon Adventure!
The Pokemon movies stopped appearing in American cinemas with the sixth feature (now released direct-to-DVD), but are among the top grossing movies in Japan to this day, where the tenth is currently set to release in the land of the rising sun this summer. This is the ninth, and the first to be dubbed by the new voice cast that took over for the ninth season, Battle Frontier. The previous two Pokemon films were just about perfectfun and enjoyable fantasy plots, wonderful and creative animation, excellent voice acting, sprinkles of great humor, a little bit of drama, great music, and totally enjoyable endings. The ninth feature has all of that for certain. The new cast, led by Sarah Natchonneny, does a great job in this feature. May gets a spotlight in this one as well, to great effect, as she has always been one of my favorite Advanced Generation (6th to 9th seasons) characters. Team Rocket has one of the best lines in the movie in a wonderful fourth-wall breaking moment, and Ash has some really cool heroic moments towards the end. The ending song isn't quite as good as the one in 7 or 8, but is still pretty good. Sometimes you just want a movie where the good guys are good guys; the bad guys are bad, and watching it is just fun. This movie, like its predecessors, left me feeling content and satisfied, something that many movies focused on avoiding the happy ending just can't do.
From Justin to Kelly (2003)
An enjoyable fluff piece...
An upbeat fluff piece, almost in the spirit of Gidget. The female leads are attractive and sing quite well. The male leads are just kind of there as far as singing goes. There are some humorous aspects to the film-including the male jock continuously having to pay fines and the smart guy in the group trying to find a girl he met on the internet. The Star Trek reference involving this character is quite hilarious, possibly the most amusing part of the movie. As for the musical numbers, they are more enjoyable than your typical Disney songs, and one or two are above average-but nothing comparing to most of the selections on your local Oldies station. The cinematography is bright, which is another plus. It does slow down at times, and there are some sexual references that are surprising for a PG (G in Canada) rated movie. Overall, enjoyable-but nothing spectacular.

Another enjoyable Doris Day comedy...
Another Doris Day comedy from the FOX Romantic Comedy Age (about 57 to about 65), this one has Day starring opposite Cary Grant. As with most of the romantic comedies of this time, the plot is implausible, but that doesn't matter at all. The dialogue is constantly witty and there's even a break-the-fourth wall moment involving a veiled reference to Day's other works and a cliche-buster moment when the secretary lets her hair down and removes her glasses-becoming even less appealing! There's also a lot of enjoyable slapstick comedy amidst the romance. Although Day and Grant are great, the film is also highlighted by a great supporting cast including Honeymooners' veteran Audrey Meadows, future Addams' Family Star John Astin, and future Darrin #2 Dick Sergeant. The movie's ending is the usual ending for this kind of movie, but is done is an amusing fashion.
